GeorgeT
Amaaaaaaaazing news ! Wodan currently reaches a maximum speed of 115 km/h Because of the cold weather here...it`s expected to go even faster when the temperatures are rising. Wodan will NOT (!) be trimmed ! (Souce : User "Dietlind" on EP Board...who`s boyfriend is a Wodan Co-Worker...it`s reliable !) Greeds...GeorgeT
RCT3Bross
^Sounds good. But I'm a bit optimistic about it. It will be awesome is it goes over 115 Km/h this will make it faster than Colossos at Heide-Park who is currently the fastest wooden coaster of Europa. cal1br3tto
Wow. That's faster than any wooden coaster I've ever ridden. No wonder it looked so quick in the videos. Even if the final typical speed ends up being slower, I just don't see how this coaster could possibly be anything but good.
Two Fifteen
That speed is impossible with a height of 35 m. Assuming no loss due to friction, potential energy = kinetic energy. gh = 0.5v² (9.81)(35) = 0.5v² v = 26.2 m/s = 94.3 km/h max
australianalex
^ I understand none of that But I agree 115kph seems very unlikely.
cal1br3tto
^^That does sound much more realistic. But even with that in mind, I'm sure the speeds will at least be average-good!
shivtim
^^^But the first drop goes below grade in a trench, as illustrated in this diagram from GCI's facebook page: Wodan is the purple track. I don't think the height of the first drop has been released, but it looks like it goes maybe 5m below grade. That could explain how it will hit 115 kmph. Although you're right, that still seems fast. It's over 70mph!
chickenbowl
Even with an extra 5 meters (40 meters from top of lift to bottom of first drop) and without friction, it could reach a hypothetical maximum of 100.85 km/hr...
GeorgeT
The woman who wrote that in a german forum (EP Fans) was able to ride (!) Wodan, because her boyfriend worked on Wodan. She said they measured 115 km/h...but if it`s really impossible, even with a heigh difference of around 40, maybe 42 meters...than I will definitively stop spreading stuff like this. Sorry, The source really seemed reliable to me...! Makes me a littlebit worry that there are so many people in the internet claiming things but not really knowing what they are talking about
Kooky
There are some nice photos from test that haven't been postet here and which show some intresting details (source: http://ep-fans.info/?id=3628&lang=& ):

There`s a lot of new greenery all around wodan... Hey...it`s covered (Protecting Wodan riders from Atlanticas little splashes !) And again greenery to make it look more natural...but not finished yet. And...we`re still waiting for the wolves to appear...come on...start spittig fire NOW ! d_gil72
Hi everyone, Need some advice on crowds in late april. I'm thinking of visiting europa park at 25.04.12 - 26.04.12 (going to holiday park for one day at the 27th) As i checked the parks site, these dates are right after the german ester 2012 school holidays. In addition to the fact that these are mid-week days , i suppose this all should mean a not too crowded park?? What do you guys think? and also - do you think staying at the on site hotels really worth it? Thank's! Gil
Werner
Europa Park has to be the best capacity park i know! And i don't think that in late april it will be as crowded as in midsummer So you proberly get enough rides on all the rides you wish Don't forget to try all kinds of food... Gil Perfect date to go to the park... normally in this time between the easter holidays and the "Pfingstferien"(holidays at the end of may) the park has very little crowds! Especially on midweek days, but on wednesday the park is often more crowded with french people, because they are not used to work on this day. So maybe on Wednesday there will be more people, but it will not be extremly full. On Thursday it should be a very empty park, maybe be with walkthrough the lines. And like the post before said, even on massive days with crowd records the park manages to get a massive amount of people through the lines very fast. They really have the fastest operators out there. And staying at a hotel ia absolutly worth it. If you just want to ride the main attractions (coaster,water- and dark-rides) you can do it in one day. But if you want to enjoy and explore all the rides and park area then you should stay in a hotel. the hotels are very nice themed too and overall a fantastic experience(i just know the Coloseo, but i think the others are good too. just give it a look on the homepage). food is delicious and prices are ok. and there are some other (cheaper) options. For expamle you can rent a covered wagon, camp in tipis or rent a lodge in the western city... but if you are going to camp, you should bring warm clothes... it could still be cold at this time (but last year it had over 25 degrees, so maybe not ) ! Here are more informations about the resort: http://resort.europapark.com/lang-en/Camp-Resort/c676.html?langchange=true So have fun and enjoy the park

GeorgeT
Yesterday there was a special event at Europa Park with a Wodan soft-opening ! Finally there was a chance to get some photos from inside the park...the Source of all pictures is EP Board.de. Well, this is not bad to give you an idea how elaborated Wodan`s theming really is...but a lot is the theming is still hidden inside the station building, most of it underground AFAIK....as a part of the rest of the queue, which was still closed yesterday. Enjoy !
Jackie Chan
Great pictures, thanks for sharing. Hope to see some video footage from inside the park as well. BTW I'm jealous!
RCT3Bross
Love the trains, the closed front looks better than the railing normal Millennium flyers have. The theming also looks great: The gate, statues and the station all look good. Well the station looks a bit empty at the outside (I'm talking about the massive amount of un-themed red wood.) the inside looks amazing. Great addition to the park. Can't wait till the first complete onride of this one.
cfc
Europa keeps getting better and better--Wodan looks like a great addition. The European parks seem to do a much better job when it comes to theming wooden coasters than the American parks.
