amy_mel
I swear I read somewhere on here that rooms were going for $400 a night though. Not much of a value if that's the case.
gisco
I swear I read somewhere on here that rooms were going for $400 a night though. Not much of a value if that's the case. I checked a couple of dates and I did find that a single night on a Saturday in late July was $345. I also went farther out on a weekday in October and it was $105 for one night. Might have something to do with being new and so many people want to stay there they can get away with it for a few months.

jedimaster1227
http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2012/06/victoria-alberts-receives-coveted-aaa-five-diamond-award-for-13th-consecutive-year/ Congrats to Chef Scott Hunnel, Master Pastry Chef Erich Herbitschek, Maître d’Hôtel Israel Perez and their team for earning their 13th AAA Five-Diamond Award for Victoria & Albert’s at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Of 28,000 restaurants reviewed, only 53 have earned five diamonds – and a mere 21 have had that distinction for 13 or more consecutive years. “Haute cuisine at its best” defines the AAA criteria. Add cutting-edge menus, the finest ingredients and “food prepared in a manner that’s highly imaginative and unique” and you’ve got the extraordinary combination that defines a winner. But beyond the kitchen, the maître d’ must lead an expert service staff “that exceeds guest expectations by attending to every detail in an effortless and unobtrusive manner.” That’s a tall order, and Victoria & Albert’s manages to wow guests every single night of the year with a fabulous “Contemporary-American” menu and refined touches such as Italian Sambonet silver, fine Royal Doulton and Wedgwood china, and Italian Frette tablecloths (hung, not folded, to avoid creases). Women get a small stool for handbags and a rose to carry home – and if you’re chilly, they’ll offer a cashmere wrap. Have you experienced dinner in the dining room, the elegant Queen Victoria’s Room or the Chef’s Table in the kitchen? Do you have a favorite dish? For reservations, call 407-WDW-DVNA (939-3862). Visit Victoria-Alberts.com for more information. Dining room is $135 per person for six courses and $65 for wine pairings. Chef’s Table and Queen Victoria’s Room are $210 for 10 courses and $105 for wine pairings.
Inukaza
Worth noting that the Landscape of Flavors at Art of Animation uses real metal silverware and real plates. The goal is to provide a sitdown style meal with the convenience of of a café style experience. Also, Art is trying to be one of the more "Greener" resorts. They are boasting about how the floor materials are made of recycled concert. I'm possible transferring over to Art from All Star, I'm excited after checking it out. Hilltopper39
The Art of Animation Resort looks stunning for a value level resort! I never was a huge fan of the All Star resorts or the Pop Century properties, they are fine for what they are (cheaper low end resorts that are "on property") but this looks like they've taken the value resort to a whole new level of quality. I would really consider staying here in the future even if only for a quick weekend getaway.

I am a huge Disney fan and love going to Disney World but I think I will wait a while before trying this resort.

A Standard room, sleeping 4 would only be $139 for the same nights. Of course, the only Standard Rooms will be in the Little Mermaid section (the last to open) and will be unavailable this august. The $105 in october is a standard room rate (not family suite - that would be $265 the same night)
RoCo
Haven't paid too much attention to the development of this new hotel option, but it looks dynamite! And that "Surf on Surf Burger" sounds SO GOOD.

I still get a better deal through my travel agent at Port Orleans. I'm sure every resort has this period right after they open. I am just taken a little off guard by exactly how high the rates are. It is a beautiful resort and if those rooms were the only ones available I would pay the rate because I would rather be at Disney than sit at home. Hilltopper39
Yeah, after looking at some pricing for this place last night it's hard to get a real good idea of what the room prices are. I priced a room for a Saturday night in July and it was over $400 a night, which just seems way over priced to me. I get the whole it's new and all the nerds will spend whatever price we put on it, but personally I wouldn't drop that kind of cash for a room here. I'd like to see these rooms priced somewhere above the Pop Century/ All Star Sports Resorts and below Port Orleans/Caribbean Beach, the high end of value, if you will. Also, something I just noticed, but the rfid room keys are really cool. I'd expect to see that system start popping up all around property if it works well at Art of Animation. Wes
^ But again, if you're pricing a room for July, you're pricing for a suite since the standard rooms don't open til later.
Bothepro24
June,July and August you will pay high prices. Not quite Christmas week or Thanksgiving weekend, but this is the busiest time of year for Disney, no school in session anywhere so they are packed, but there is no one from South America in the parks, they are in school. jedimaster1227
http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2012/08/d-tech-me-to-offer-disney-princess-figurines-at-world-of-disney-in-walt-disney-world-resort-for-a-limited-time/ A few months ago, we launched our new D-Tech Me experience as part of Star Wars Weekends 2012. You may remember how guests were “frozen” in carbonite at the Carbon-Freezing Chamber in Disney’s Hollywood Studios using state-of-the-art imaging and printing technology. I’m excited to share that D-Tech Me is expanding starting August 26 at the World of Disney in Downtown Disney Marketplace. This new interactive experience will allow guests ages 3-12 to live out princess dreams by placing their likeness on a three-dimensional 7-inch Disney Princess figurine keepsake! During this 10-minute experience, several cameras will instantly capture multiple angles of a guest’s face which are reconstructed in a computer for processing. The “princess in waiting” can choose one of seven different Disney Princesses including Ariel, Aurora, Belle, Cinderella, Rapunzel, Snow White and Tiana. Hair, skin and eye color of the figurine are customized to match the guest. A Princess silver link necklace with choice of colored gem charm is also included for participants. The completed figurine is then shipped directly to the guest’s home within five to six weeks. Each seven-inch Princess figurine is $99.95 (plus $15.95 shipping. Canadian and International shipping begins at $75.00). Guests can order additional replica seven-inch figurines for $74.95 each or a three-inch replica for $39.95. No discounts will be offered. Reservations are strongly recommended for this limited time experience and can be made by calling 407-WDW-TECH (407-939-8324) starting August 7, 2012. Please note: Guests must be between 3-12 years of age to participate. Children must be accompanied by an adult at least 18 years of age or older during the entire experience. A valid accepted credit card number is required at time of booking. No-shows or in the event a reservation is cancelled within 48 hours of scheduled experience will result in such credit card being charged a $25 cancellation fee. The experience, due to its personalized nature is non-refundable and not eligible for an exchange. Certain restrictions apply. All prices, components and information are subject to change or cancellation without notice.

gisco
Probably a smart thing that they put an age limit on it. I can see some older male TPR members doing this for the fun of it. I don't think Disney would like that.

jedimaster1227
http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2012/08/phineas-and-ferb-you-a-brand-new-reality-opens-at-downtown-disney-at-walt-disney-world-resort-september-1/ First there were “Phineas & Ferb” character meet and greets at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Then Agent P’s World Showcase Adventure opened at Epcot. Now, the brothers will invade another area of Walt Disney World Resort: Beginning September 1, guests of all ages can participate in a complimentary augmented reality offering at Downtown Disney called “Phineas and Ferb & YOU: A Brand New Reality.” The experience, which will take place next to Bongos Cuban Café, will allow guests to step onto a platform and virtually interact with Phineas, Ferb, Dr. Doof and Agent P (in their animated forms) on a screen above. Fans can expect to experience any one of 20 different interactions, from dancing “The Platypus Walk” to getting caught in Dr. Doof’s Freeze-inator. http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2012/08/new-20th-anniversary-walt-disney-world-marathon-medal-revealed/ Disney is known in the running industry for its cool race medals, so it should come as no surprise that runDisney has pulled out all of the stops in designing a medal for next year’s 20th anniversary Walt Disney World Marathon, January 10-13. The medal was revealed this morning after a two-week social media campaign called “The Great Medal Caper” in which fans such as you got to unlock clues to eventually unveil the medal. Trust me, this medal is unlike anything we have created before. It has the traditional round shape, but it features two spinning parts, including a medallion with a classic image of Mickey Mouse on one side and a modern image of him on the other side. The other cool features are two engraved quotes from Walt Disney himself. And to think, all you have to do to get one of them is run 26.2 miles. Better start training now! But don’t forget to sign up for the race first at runDisney.com. http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2012/08/hakuna-matata-lion-king-finds-a-home-at-disneys-art-of-animation-resort-at-walt-disney-world-resort/ The theming of the latest wing of Disney’s Art of Animation Resort is so detailed and fun that its impossible to walk through the area without humming a song – any song – from Disney’s “The Lion King.” The new Lion King courtyard, which officially opens today, allows guests to step into the adventure of Simba the lion cub, with landscapes and theming that reflect the fun scenes from the film. Here, Pumbaa and Timon dance with a young Simba across a log bridge. King Mufasa towers atop Pride Rock while his evil brother Scar slinks in the shadows and his hyenas friends gaurd the elephant graveyard. The fun continues inside each of the 320 family suites. Here, a figure of Zazu decorates the headboard, and Pumba and Timon appear on the shower curtain. Previous wings of the resort, themed after “Cars” and “Finding Nemo,” opened earlier this year. The final wing of the resort, which is themed after “The Little Mermaid” and offers 864 rooms, will open September 15. Which area sounds most appealing to you?
