Six Flags Magic Mountain Tatsu Flying Coaster

Recommended Posts

Yeah. That would be the way to go, if they did the same thing they did at SFGAdv this year with The Golden Kingdom.

Yeah. That would be perfect to replace the Sky Tower with some kind of free fall tower, whish they don't have yet.

BTW, I have been told from my source that Orient Express will stay, but it will only be cloused during construction. So thats a good thing.

I'm also very interested/exsited about that project at SFMM. Can't wait to fanally found out what the project is going to be, as like the announcement, which is likely going to be made in November, which is the mouth i'm born in. So it will be a good present for me if they announced the project on my birthday on the 21th.

I just came back from SFMM. First off, it was pretty crowded for a Wednesday! Yay!

Ok, they were SERIOUSLY cutting down a lot of trees. Areas by the skytower seems naked. There is a big pit in front of the tower. When I first got there, I saw two guys sitting on top of Valencia Falls (waterfalls next to Revolution). The waterfalls were turned off, as were the fountains. Revolution was closed when I was there. The original exuse was "technical stuff", but when I asked later if it had to do with them cutting trees, they confimed "yea...something like that".

They were installing more of that electrical line when I was there. They were also working in the gardens when I was there (I saw this huge truck move around, a little tractor moving around, and a guy watering down the land.)

Thats all I saw.

When I was over by metro, I saw the whole fence was painted, from Goldrusher to the Metro. Seeing a painted fence is a LONG JUMP to saying its coming back.

^Hmm I wonder if Metro will be coming back then, if they are painting the fence.. It seems sorta strange that they would paint it, if they had intentions of removal. :? This whole construction project is very interesting, and I hope we see the Sky Tower and Metro both return to operation next year. I cannot wait to find out the details of this project with the coaster.

I hope I'm not the only one thats going absolutely crazy over this stuff right now...I mean, what the heck could be going on?!?

However, I never thought about what the hell that building was behind the Superman gift shop, I guess I just kinda figured it was a bathroom and that was all...but now I come to find out it used to be a station for Eagles Flight (that's the 'ol sky ride thing with the cables and buckets right?) and I wanna make a trip to the mountain just to check it out...It's wierd, I'm always so interested with stuff in the past, and so sad when they take them out for new things...it's cool to learn about the growth of parks, especially one so unique as Magic Mountain.

Thanks for the pictures Robb...I hope to got the Sky Tower stays, and not too many trees are pulled out of the ground...I enjoy the "forest" atmosphere at Magic Mountain, I don't want it to leave.

If anybody knows any real information on MM imploding the sky tower please share it. Not that I want to see it gone. (Quite the contrary) I just want to rent a helicopter for the day so that I can get some great footage of it colapseing.

This construction is out of hand. The project seems much greater than just a coaster. It's quite obvious that they are doing something. Why can't they just make an announcemet!

I highly doubt they will implode the Skytower. If its coming down, it will be piece by piece. There are too many rides and buildings nearby to implode the tower. If it didn't fall straight down as planned, it could take out parts of Ninja, The Botttled Water Flume Ride, Rapids Camp, and probably even parts of Revolution.

I say, as long as the tower is structurally sound, keep it. They could even get Intamin to stick Giant Drop tracks to the side of the tower. It shouldn't effect the structure much at all. If you keep one side of the elevators open, you can still use the observation tower, and have 5 drop cars. And it would get SFMM one of the tallest freefall rides in the world.

HI

I think Uscoaster has hit the nail on the head I think they are putting electrics wires and stuff and hole is there because they are going to make it into a drop tower and build a new coaster up there to Just got one of those feelings when I read the thread about making it into a drop tower just made sense :?

But it's so much more amusing to tell everyone that they're taking the SkyTower down!!! Think how much fun this as been rather than "they're digging a hole for electrical work".

Plus I'm thinking that if an earthquake hit now, with less support down there the tower could totally take out Deja Vu!

I like Deja Vu (when I don't have to wait more than 30 min). Maybe they could convince Nasa to give them some rockets to attach to the side of the sky tower and then they could launch it into space. It would be the worlds coolest piece of space junk.

And then when they finally build that moon base that Bush wants they could incorporate it into the design.

BTW, I love the construction pic. There is nothing there and the park has a really small parking lot.

^ Actually, you can see Metro and the Orient Express tracks.

About the parking lot, what you can see in that picture is the part of the parking lot where Hurricane Harbor is now. But the lot that's there now was there then. They actually had way more parking at that time than they do now!

I guess the only question I have is if the funicular is removed, *how* will be be able to access Samurai Summit besides the hill of death on the back side of the mountain?

I thought the only reason SFMM kept the funicular in operation was to comply with ADA.

If the hill is the only way up there, you can rule out any future ERTs on the new ride, Ninja, or S:TE- no way ACErs are going to climb that bitch again. I remember all the huffing and puffing back at Disaster Con in '02.
