Well there goes all hope of getting any work done tonight! This is just awesome guys!

EDIT: One thing I did notice under "Top Attractions" for Beech Bend Looping Star is listed, which I believed closed in 2009.

^MOD EDIT: Fixed, thank you

^ The park index already displays if a ride is closed or not.

Please remember, that the park index is NOT "RCDB", the two things are very different. The park index is not a database of rides and stats. It's more of a comprehensive, and now interactive "park guide."

The two things are VERY different. We do not intend for TPR's park index to ever be a "database", in case anyone was wondering.

A suggestion for the park index maybe a list of defunct rides.

I see that you posted two reviews on Darien Lake. I need to delete them because there is a bug with that system.

Please. PLEASE, I ask you again (I've already posted it once), do not post reviews just yet. We are still working out some of the bugs in the system. Posting reviews when we aren't ready for you to post them creates more work for us, and that time would be spent on improving the park index, but now we have to spend that time deleting reviews that we've asked not to be posted.

So please, once again, I ask, feel free to look around and browse, but don't post reviews just yet.

Thank you.

^Just a thought, if people continue to post reviews and it's making things harder for you, then there should be some annoyingly noticeable watermark stating "DO NOT POST ANY REVIEWS YET;" If it's possible. I'm guessing that those people aren't reading this thread.

Hey Robb, I absolutely LOVE the new park index. Such a step in the right direction!!!

Many review sites add the option to rate whether or not a review was helpful to you, and sorts the reviews by the helpful rating. I did not see this anywhere, you may still be working on it. I am aware that you told people not to post reviews, but of course some have already.

I would love to see this blow up into a collection of well composed reviews that works as a reliable resource for others. Now I don't know if the current reviews there are intentionally short and to the point, and if they are I apologize for this post. But I read a whole bunch of "Most awesomeness Park ever Best Rise Tower of Terror II and Giant Drop and All the Big 6 Thrill Rides " (actual copy + paste comment).

Being able to say 'This review was not helpful' would be a great tool on the long term to separate those who actually put some time and thought into their review instead of just trying to boost its rating. I am a member of another site (not park related, don't worry!), and there are two places that constantly compete for "1st place" on the site, and the result has been a bunch of crappy reviews, both positive and negative, that are ultimately there just so somebody can boost or knock down a rating. I can see this happening with, oh I don't know, SFMM and CP, or MK and DLA.

Anyway If you are working on that sector of the site, and these reviews are actually supposed to be short and not-thorough for beta purposes then I apologize. But if you have not thought of the idea, well there it is!

^The ability to "like" a review is under consideration. This project has been going on for over two years and there have been dozens of tweaks to get to this point and we still have other options to consider. However, Robb realized that if we wait until this is perfect it wouldn't be active before the 2011 season starts.

In the end, we think all the "needs" are in place for this to be functional and useful, but there are still "wants" to be added.

It's not as though we haven't already thought of this.

I am aware that you told people not to post reviews, but of course some have already.

We do actually have a team of "testers" that are helping us out whom I have asked to post reviews. So the ones that are going up are there because I'm asked certain people to post stuff.

The ability to recommend photos and PTRs for the Park Index has been enabled again.

Some people have submitted individual ride photos and links to their photo trip reports. That is appreciated but remember the following.

All PTRs must have photos uploaded to the Theme Park Review server to be considered for inclusion.

Not every PTR or picture can be added to the Park Index.

Ride/coaster photos must not exceed 800 x 600 when included them in your suggestion, otherwise the request is deleted.

Ride/coaster photos should be different or of higher quality than the ones already in the Park Index.

Please listen to Robb, do not write any reviews unless Robb contacted you to be a tester. We appreciate the eagerness, but we don't want you wasting your time as we have to delete whatever the unapproved testers are writing.

Thanks!

Remember photos must be .jpg should not exceed 800x600 (Unfortunately, in the past many people have submitted photos that were far too large for TPR to use or in pdf form.)

High quality photos, please (not blurry, distorted or out of focus).

Lastly, we are not adding kiddie rides or major upcharges at this time, but we are at the point where family rides such as: transportation rides, carousels, ferris wheels and bumper cars are being added.

We are also not adding FECs (Family Entertainment Centers) to the Park Index. Our current rule of thumb is to include places that have 6 or more adults rides.

And if you have to ability to scan your park maps, feel free to submit those for the years that all not already in the Park Index.

Of course any PTRs containing superior photos or entertaining captions and a variety of pictures including multiple rides and areas (Not just one or two rides/attractions) are always valued. Attention has been given to every previously submitted Photo TR. Don't feel discouraged if we can't include every one.

Photo in your PTRs must be downloaded onto the Theme Park Review server (not Imageshack, photobucket) for it to be included in the Park Index, that way we know a Red X will never appear.

Lastly, if you have photos of a non-kiddie ride that is not in TPR's Park Index, please submit that also. The list of what we need is not complete, only based on rides that appear on my personal park maps.
