My two favorites are Dudley Do Right Ripsaw Falls/Splash Mountain at Magic Kingdom! The worst log flume Stanley Falls at Busch Gardens Africa has no themeing and do not get the average amount of Wetness!

SFFM's Log Jammer was my first ever flume ride so it's my sentimental favorite. One of their premier rides back in the day. They added the Jet Stream I think to displace the lines at the Log Jammer, it's fun and the que moves quickly, but it's no comparison. Over at Knott's Berry Farm the Timber Mountain ride (I think they call it) is exceptional, it's mainly indoors and beautiful, like a classic Disneyesque attraction. Speaking of Disney, haven't been on Splash Mountain (I will this Oct) but I hear it is not to be missed.

Dorney has a pretty cool flume that gets you pretty wet. It has what seems like one of the fastest drops on any flume I have ever been on. It picks up really decent speed going down. I also liked the Haunted River at Kings Dominion, the whole head chopper drop out of the mountain!

As far as worst I have been on would definitely be the Paul Bunyan thingy over at Idlewild...

My favorite would probably have to be Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls, mostly the dip-drop where you go under the train. That's original alright. Worst? I've been on a lot of low-budget up and downs that have no attempt at theme at all. And concrete isn't my thing. (see above)

Splash Mountain and Dudley Do-Right aside, US log flumes pale in comparison to those that I have ridden in the UK and Spain.

Alton Towers' bathtub themed flume rocks. Practically everyone one in Spain allowed us to jam up to 6 adults in the boat and had a reversing turntable. A lot of the ones in Spain have blended together but I think it was the one at Terra Mitica that provided insane air when we were going backwards.

I actually did not like the Holiday World log flume. When I rode it, there was no water on the drop to splash you as you go down. It was also very short, had a pointless tunnel, and very calm with no real rapids. To top it all off, it didn't have trees to go through like most log flumes, which I enjoy.

My favorite is definitely Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls followed by Splash Mountain at Disneyland and then the one at WDW. Some other great ones are the Le Scoot at BGE and the Log Jammer at SFMM. In my opinion, they are great classic log flumes.

My least favorite is the Log Flume at Alabama Adventure. It pretty much sucks at life.

Why do you not like it?

Nailed it! Slow, short, weak hill, and very little water (which others may consider as a plus, but not me). There's just nothing that really stands out about. I'd even take Yankee Clipper and Logger's Run at SFGAm or even the one at SFStL over Holiday World's any day.

My best are Log Jammer at SFMM, Splash Mountain at DLR and WDW.

I also really liked Over the Edge at the defunct MGM Grand Adventures Theme Park.

My worst is the Adventure Canyon Log Flume at Buffalo Bill's Primm, Nevada.

I do like shooting at the targets though. It has a small drop and then meanders through the casino.

Um. . . is everyone forgetting the log flume @ Nick Universe? One of the best ones on earth? Elissa come on ya gotta back me up on this one!

I did enjoy the Paul Bunyan log flume. (I don't know what it is named now!) I also think the MGM Grand Adventures log flume was really well done and of course Splash Mountain is wonderful on both coasts.

The absolute worst log flume I have been on is at Genting Highlands in Malaysia. There was no water flow after the first drop, so the only way the log would move was when a log behind would hit the drop and move the water. Of course, the further we would get from the drop, the less we would move. Eventually it started to rain and we literally had to pull ourselves back in since we were moving so slowly. The entire ride is pointless and I had blisters on my hands from pulling our log along. A self powered log flume is a first for me!

Flume snakes around with no flow in the bottom right of the picture.

^We got soaked from the rain, but not from the ride. I agree the water was nasty, but we had seen other people go and knew we wouldn't get wet from the ride. It was horrible though. At least I got a good workout in pulling the boat back!

I was just wondering what the best and worst log flumes are. In my opinion the best are The Wild Thornberry Flume at Kings Island and Dare Devil Falls at Dollywood. The worst one is Poland Springs Plunge that operated at SFNE.

Heres a picture of Poland Springs Plunge at SFNE. This is the gist of the layout. Replacing it with the raft slide from SFAW was a great idea.

I think my favorite is Dare Devil Falls at Dollywood, and my least favorite would have to be The Splinter at Dixie Landin' in Baton Rouge, LA. The Splinter had a nice looking station, but no theming at all on the ride, and with it's two drops, niether of which really get you wet, because it feels like there are brakes that slow you down quickly after the drop. It could use a tunnel and more smaller drops along the course like Frightful Falls at Holiday World. It just reallly bored me.

I posted earlier that my favs are SFMM's Log Jammer and KBF's Timber Mountain but I forgot my worst. Back in the 70's the Anheuser-Busch brewery in Los Angeles had a tram/monorail tour of their facility and they decided to add a European style village attraction they called Busch Gardens; just a ploy to attract more people ad make some $$$. The only ride was a "log" ride with no theme, no point, nothing. It just roamed you around the "village", especially their three "beer gardens" (Bud, Michelobe, and Busch) and concluded with a drop. At times you went so slow you could physically stop our boat with your hands against the sidewalls, then push yourself back into motion. Needless to say, it, and the village are long gone. Fun as a little kid since it truly was one of the first actual "hands-on" rides.

I have to give props to Kennywood's Log Flume for having a non-lift incline which I believe is pretty uncommon these days.

I recall the GADV Log Flume having a similar element back in the '70s but it has since been reprofiled (first drop I think). Does anybody else remember it or have a picture?
