CHILLERLC1
I like these additions. The ferris wheel gets a new location, Looney Tunes Movie Town is not being rethemed, and the triangle weird space between these three coasters gets used. I've been to the SFOG and SFNE Thomas Towns, rode both trains so I welcome the addition.
Capitalize
I have never been to SFA even though it's only an hour and 2 mins. away. What is the best roller coaster there? I am planning on going there pretty soon. Superman - Wild One - Batwing are my favorites. Â Â As for Thomas Town, I'm very excited for the park and the families who visit. I'll likely step foot in the area once or twice next season just to see what its like; but its GREAT to see SFA finally getting a large addition to the amusement park side. Now hopefully 2011 will bring an addition for the big kids.
palmerleeberry
In the previous years, I used to get Six Flags Passes and visit Six Flags America. Three years ago, I stopped doing that because I felt the park was getting stale and they were removing rides instead of adding them. But I probably was missing the point last year when the park decided to add new shows (I believe the count was nine - how many parks do you know that offer nine shows during a season?), plus not to mention their Thursday night concert series. But still, I prefer to ride while only seeing a show or two to rest between rides.  Now we have Thomas Train that will debut this year and I have mixed feelings about that. First, I feel good that the park is finally getting new attractions that would be benefital to families, that this will be the largest Thomas Train area in the Six Flags parks, and one particular ride " Sodor Carnival Ferris Wheel- Guests of every age will experience Carnival Fun on the Island of Sodor while riding this classic Ferris wheel. sounds like the park will move its Around the World in 80 Days Ferris Wheel to this new area, thus freeing the old Rainbow Falls area to be converted (hopefully) into something new and exciting. But on the bad side, I may not be able to ride many of these new attractions the park is adding due to my height and big-sized nature (I'm not saying I'm fat cos I can still ride Superman: Ride of Steel, but only in certain seats due to my massive legs). But since I'm planning to visit other Six Flags parks this season (including Magic Mountain in August), I think I'll waive my self-imposed ban and gamble fifty bucks for this season's season pass. Hopefully, Six Flags America would prove me wrong about my earlier assumption and I can say that my faith into this park has been renewed.  "After a hard day's riding coaster, I'm the thing you need for a good night's rest." Capitalize
I actually wasn't planning on renewing my SFA pass this season because I already got a CF Maxx Pass and figured most of my free time would spent driving to KD to ride I305, but then they seat me the email telling me my pass was already in the mail and it was only $50 to activate, so I figure I will now... alilstronger
I will not be renewing my season pass for Six Flags America because there really are no fun rides there anymore. Plus Six Flags Great Adventure is just a tad too far to go all the time.
Capitalize
Anymore? What did they have before that was removed that was particularly fun? Â Two Face was OK, Iron Eagle was OK...
alilstronger
I really miss Two Face: The Flip Side. My friends and I used to get on there to make fun of each others faces and to be loud and just laugh together because it was the only coaster around here where we could all literally sit and enjoy a coaster together while seeing each other. Yea, there are coasters where you sit 4 or more abreast but they are not like this kind where you can see and talk to each other. Â Also I miss Iron Eagle. I know this ride caused lots of headaches for the park. I just LOVED this ride and I miss it. I too also miss Krypton Comet. I also know this caused a lot issues as well. I just think its an all around great ride. At one time the enterprise was a big ride around amoung amusement parks and carnivals but now they seem harder to find in my area of MD. So I do miss the SkyEscaper a lot, especially since Hershey got rid of theirs too. This ride was taken out before Six Flags bought the park but I miss Curving Dervish as well. It was a Bayern Curve ride type.

JEAPUgrad
^Also, didn't Mark Shapiro say coaster enthusiasts will be happy with the 2011 addition? I won't use this addition, but as I said, it is great that SFA is finally seeing some love. Hopefully they can clean the park up and improve the service for 2010 as well so that they give a good impression to the families who visit. It'll be interesting to see this project when finished and see if it is closer to Wiggle's World or Drayton Manor's Thomas land.  No.  John Winkler, the Park President, allegedly made that comment during the ACE event last fall.  Mark Shapiro said on tonight's blogger call (and I received this second hand) that SFA will be getting a family coaster in the future. Something else was mentioned about SFA really putting a focus on bringing families back to SFA.  I'm hoping someone will post the full transcript as was the case last time. Capitalize
Eh, I really don't miss any of the flats that much. I do miss Two Face... Â A family coaster could be a nice addition. There isn't really a coaster for riders between the great chase and wild one. Â Anyone going for opening weekend? I'll be there...
froggypheebs
If they are re-locating the Ferris Wheel, are they finally going to remove those old ugly slides that were behind it? It seems they will be more noticeable with the Ferris Wheel gone. Â I also really liked that Octupus ride. Sad to see it go. Is it going in storage or relocated or trashed? It seems they will be more noticeable with the Ferris Wheel gone. Â The explanation I have heard is that the area where Hurricane Mountain (those rainbow colored slides) currently stands is a designated floodplain. Apparently the ride was built before the area was designated as such and therefore avoided the restrictions for building in a floodplain. If they would remove Hurricane Mountain and not immediately replace it, any new construction on the site would deal with the harsh restrictions of building in a flood plain (the restrictions pretty much say you cannot build in a floodplain), however, if they immediately replaced the slides with something else, it would be classified as a modification, and not new construction, which is permitted. I would think the park has SOMETHING in mind for the area in the next couple years, otherwise they would have removed the attraction already and just let the area fall back under the restrictions of the flood plain, however, I do agree that in their current state, the slides are a bit of an eyesore. It would be nice if they could just remove the slides even if they didn't put anything there other than maybe some landscaping. It would be more aesthetically pleasing. SFA Regular
I agree with (KDCoatserfan). As Six Flags continues to lose attractions and replace them with nothing, Kings Dominion continues to get better and better every year. As for 2011, those plans could change if the merge happens between Six Flags Inc and Cedar Fair, as we were discussing in the (Six Flags Bankruptcy) thread. The vote for a buy out of Apollo management is coming up next week on April 8th. If Creditors vote and Apollo gets Cedar Fair, they probably will merge sometime before the 2010 season is done. So plans for 2011 could change if this happens. Â But back on topic. Thomas Town was put in between Superman and Joker's Jinx. I plan on going to the park next weekend, but I can imagine how much noise that people are going to hear from Joker going through its cycle. Could they have picked another location to install the new theme area??? Not only that but it doesn't match the theme of Gotham City. That land could have easily been used for some flat rides and possibly a new coaster by itself. Â Any thoughts?

Six Flags merging with Cedar Fair was just a complete rumor, and it was confirmed false by Mark Shapiro himself. I don't know why Six Flags would agree to do such a thing anyway.  I think that the given location is actually a pretty good place for Thomas Town since it is right in the center of 3 major coasters. It will give younger kids something to do close to where the big coasters are that the teens are riding. Then the family can stay close together and do most of the park together. SFA Regular
People still don't understand how this can work. Apollo could get the company the same way that (Dan Snyder) did against (Kieran Burke). If they offer stock holders enough money, and a better plan than what the current management is doing, then they will sell. In my opinion the company is still up for grabs if you like at it that way. Originally (Stark Investments) plan did not include the current corporate management staying, but they decided to change it. But that's another conversation altogether, so I won't get into it.  Back on topic. I think they could have made it's own little section. I would have rather them ran a complete loop for the park and install it in a new area. Again, how does Thomas The Tank Engine fit in with Gotham City??? Same thing with Two-Face. I don't understand why they put it over in South West Territory when it should have been in Gotham City. Cedar Fair has their debt issues as well...  I agree that Two Face would have matched the theme better in Gotham City and should have been placed there, but I think their mindset at the time was a putting a coaster in a spot that was kind of a dead spot in the park. SFA Regular
Good answer (Nitro). I figured the same thing when I first saw Two-Face. One thing that needs to be improved is security at the rides. I miss the days when they sat up in the chairs inside the ride stations. This cut back on line jumping, which is something I see at the park too much. Instead security just walks around the park all day. They need more security to stay at the rides and make sure everything is followed according to park standards.  The security issue is a problem at every Six Flags park I've been to. Even when they catch people, they just send them to the end of the line, and they cut again. They need to stand by their policy of ejecting people from the park.
