OldJJman
Thank you for sharing! That was quite cool!! I wonder if a day trip to Cairo is in the TPR future.
USCoaster
The ferris wheel looking thing next to the rapids ride was supposed to be a lift for the boats followed by a drop into the upper rapids section. I think these were being designed and built by Hafema, but I don't see any mention of it on their website. It always looked like a cool design, but I'm not sure if they ever got it operating properly.
hipbrianhop
Nice fotoreport, I always wondered which park egypt had. But what a Duststorm, I would find it freaky to go in a ride with a duststorm.
Beeja
^^That ferris wheel on the rapids is indeed built by Hafema. El Rio at Bobbejaanland Belgium has got one too. It worked quite well when the rapids just opened (in 2000) but they had to shut it down because there were too many breakdowns... Too bad, because the drop was really fun! Apart from that: very nice TR! You made some cool pics in that sandstorm, I find them very mysterious but also beautiful. The color give them an extra dimension! Thanks for sharing! jynx242
Amazing report! I think someone said it earlier, but I'm amazed that they have the coasters up and running at all. It seems that sandstorms would play hell with lift chains and such. I think that some of the "uber-technological" coasters that we have in the US just plain wouldn't work in the heat and sand in Egypt. I think it's really great that they have theme parks in sight of the Pyramid's. It's like RCT in real life! Thanks for the report. It got me out of my head (and my office) for a while this morning. window
Personally, I think Vekoma isn't as bad as people say it is, I really think that the vast majority of the people on here are VERY pampered and thinking that anything rougher than glass smooth is not enjoyable. I am not one of those people. Jeez, everyone! Get tougher! LOL I totally agree with you on that!!! Nice TR. It's always cool to see parks from countries a little bit further a field. angryemobeaver
I had no idea Egypt had amusement parks! I would hurt so bad being on that SLC during a dust storm, you would have a headache and your eyes would hurt like hell!
