Photo TR: The VEGAStastic Voyage

I hadn't been to Vegas since I was 16, so I pretty much never got to experience the "real" Vegas fun until now. Work sent me out to check out the NAB convention, so I started the trip early and took my girlfriend with me over this weekend for some fun times. Note I've had already done all the coasters (except Speed) on previous trips, so this Photo TR isn't coaster heavy...but is heavy on images of boobs on statues!!!!

Let's get ready to taste the world!!

We opted for the $7 "Taste The World" sampler. Pretty much a more varied version of the Epcot idea.

Can you virgins handle this? They had VAULT RED BLITZ ICEES at Coke World.

The next morning, on the tram from Mandalay to Excalibur to check out the strip!!!

The view faced down to the pool area, but the lights made it hard to get a good shot. So here's a ARTY shot of me taking a picture.

Flat screen TV, nice desk, couches. Definitely much more elegant than most Disney resorts!

Here's the bathroom with the tub and the shower. Again, really awesome.

We got in late Friday night. We got a really nice room at the Mandalay Bay. The room was huge and upscale!

Mandalay Bay is super nice, I just wish it wasn't so far away from the main part of the strip. At least you can walk all the way to Excalibur without going outside! (Which was lovely at the end of August)

 

Are the time-share people still all over the casinos there? We couldn't enter a casino without them being all up in our business.

Day Two (Part Two!)

That blur is the train, so yeah...that's Speed...onto more important things....

Up the spike, then you get to do it again.

Best part of the ride, the second acceleration and the awesome sweeping turn. I really liked the natural flowey nature of that part.

Hot looping action. Also, my camera sucks at night and I didn't have the patience to wait for trains to go by, so you'll have to live with crappy photos. Deal with it.

The first turn is BRUTAL ouch!!! Really painful if you're not prepared. Seriously, OW!

Someone convince the Sahara to invest in the new Premiere trains without the OTSRs!

The station is very minimal, but the trains are pretty tight.

$21 later, I'm wristbanded up and ready for multiple rides.

The sole remaining credit I need in Vegas!

So Alexis had to fly back to L.A. to go back to work, so I was left in Vegas by myself. Time to make a credit run...but not at the Stratosphere!

I took the Monorail...probably the safest way to get there. And once I got to the hotel, I rode the coaster enough to justify the $21 ticket, walked outside for two minutes to take the shots, then headed right back to the monorail. Now I have no reason to venture north of the mall ever again!!!

^I'm sure you'll be able to find TONS of NAB coverage all over the internet now that the exhibits are open to everyone....

 

NAB is boring. All the cool stuff is too hard to see since 5,000,000 other people want to see it too. I went the year the HVX200 was unveiled and we couldn't even get near the mock up. I go when I can because it gives me an excuse to go to Vegas, not because the convention is any good. Same thing goes for CES.
