There's a Hummer here in Camarillo that's white on top, but the bottom half is pink. I'll try and get a picture of it sometime. For whatever reason, I see it by the post office a lot.

I may stop looking at this trip report. It's so good that if I'm not careful, I'm going to make reservations to visit WDW again even though I can't afford it right now.

Also, I want to see Shannon's face, post-Beverly...

As for the queues, I'll give the edge to Dragons. The castle looks quite impressive from a distance and EE's queue is too museum-like for me with all that stuff in glass cases.

I hope you're being sarcastic. That's the whole point, you are in a museum about the Yeti.

No sarcasm. My point was that approach doesn't do that much for me. I like the idea of the Yeti, but I've never felt that EE as a whole really delivered as well as it should have.

I have to admit to something. I was sitting here trying to figure out the nautical flag puzzle before i scrolled down and saw the key. When I was younger someone asked me what the flags meant and I didnt know so I memorised the signal flag alphabet. Sadly (or maybe not) I have forgotten most of it.

The TR continues to be a fun read.

^ Rick - I'm officially jealous that you dove The Living Seas. Someday I'm gonna get around to it!

If you do end up booking, I'm calling WDW for my cut. And as for Shan's reaction, ask and you shall receive, Eric.

Chuck - I agree. I love how both queues set up their "stories" very well. For me, the thing that helps EE's queue is that the story doesn't end when you hit the lifthill, unlike DD.

Thank you, sir. Yeah, I had worked in the yachting industry for about 6 years. At one point I'd say I was familiar with about 25% of the flags. I would've gone for my captain's license and memorized them all had we not unexpectedly moved to Georgia. Glad someone else enjoyed that part of the TR.

Run DMC is extremely important to America. If we didn't have them, then they couldn't have paved the way for rappers like Soulja Boy. UGH, damn you Run DMC!!
lol.

Thanks once again for the comments. I'll post the final part sometime tomorrow. Doesn't look like we're gonna beat Big Mike in bikini pics.

Shan's Beverly taste test. I believe she was quoted beforehand as saying," I've never been so anxious to taste something so apparently awful."

Great TR! I can't wait to get back to WDW.

What exactly does Beverly taste like? Do you get sick after drinking it?

I used some of your pics for my desktop, hope you don't mind.

Anxiously awaiting the next installment.

Beverly tastes like an especially astringent after shave.

or

It tastes like something peed in your cup--then died.

Hell yes, I mind. I never authorized anyone to use these works of art!

Nah, I don't mind at all. You can even pm me and let me know which ones. I can email you the higher res copies if you like.

^^ & ^^^Those are pretty good descriptions right there. I'm willing to bet that 99.9% of the TPRers who've experienced it feel the same way.....except for Wes, who actually pays for the stuff.

^ There's your .01% right on cue. You're a sick individual, Joe.

Okay, the party's not over just yet. Originally, on Friday night we had planned to visit pianojohn at his new gig, but obviously, being sick and all, I just wasn't up to it (sorry we missed you, man).

Later that evening, it was also becomming obvious that I was in the giving mood, as Shan, Gary, and Ita were all feeling a bit ill. Hey, I figured it wasn't fair if just I was sick. Spread the wealth, right? Okay, I did feel pretty bad about passing it on, but anyway, they knew it was pretty much inevitable.

Unfortunately, this also meant that we wouldn't be making a visit to Typhoon Lagoon on Saturday morning. So, with plans altered, it was time to explore the "world" a bit. I've been lucky enough to had stayed at most of the resorts over the years, but Shan hadn't even seen some of them, so it was time to be the tour guide for the Epcot resorts before heading over to Downtown Disney.

If you've ever got time to kill, I highly recommend strolling through some of the WDW resort lobbies. Each hotel is pretty unique, and definitely worth looking at. Most also have great restaurants as well. TPR member Soren has a thread dedicated to WDW hotels, but I was too lazy to search for it. After you're finished looking at these, his thread if worth a look for some of the other hotels on site.

On to the pics.....

LOL. I love the honesty of it.

Thanks for reading!

Hey, but the next store reminded us of our ride on the People Mover on Thursday. :)

After the first downpour of the day (there'd be plenty more) the carousel was closed, and that meant no new credit.

There you are! Don't you know you belong somewhere else? ;)

But when your store is themed this well, it softens the blow to your wallet.....if only a tad.

See? It's unavoidable.

You can try and avoid it, but the gravitational pull of this store is eventually gonna suck you in and you'll be forced to help pay Iger's salary.

A quick look at the aforementioned Boardwalk.

But we didn't stop in because the rain was threatening. Yay Jellyrolls though!

Moving on, we strolled across the bridge towards the Boardwalk.

A short stroll from the Dolphin is the Swan. Not much different from the Dolphin; however, my spider senses told me the interior had been redecorated a bit since the last time I was there (memory is a bit sketchy here....anyone know if that's true?).

Although speaking of taste, it does earn points for Shula's! Go Phins!! =)

The very "unDisney" lobby. Nice place, just not quite my taste.

The entryway.

Time to step inside.

165291754_256tpr.jpg.8ebcaa1c0da24535ec8750c31e7d216c.jpg

Oh sure, the Michael Graves architecture is pretty cool and all, but this place lacks any Disney charm, as it is operated by an outside company.

1627080432_255tpr.jpg.9ee9a4c828580ebd0e98da287f55983b.jpg

I wonder how many people are mislead into thinking they're gonna get the usual "Disney hotel feeling" by booking here?

907501408_254tpr.jpg.fd0641890367da8b33dd0b7aa8eabcfc.jpg

Next up, the Walt Disney World Dolphin. One of my least favorite hotels on site.

And speaking of the pool area, which is shared by both hotels, here's the starting point of the main water slide.

The pool area features this little food joint.

Yeah, the name of this place escapes me too.

A look at one of the restaurants. Sorry, the name escapes me.

No big lobby pics, but we thought this was rather cute and clever.

Let's step inside, shall we?

Never noticed this before, but those balconies are rather pointless.

A look at the front section of the Beach Club....conveniently located just steps away from Awesomeville.

Another look back at one of the main sections. If you turned around right now, you'd see.....

203657306_236tpr.jpg.81096d00b27be8a61b39ac7fc776e022.jpg

From this view leaving the lobby, you can see how close you are to The Boardwalk, and Swan & Dolphin resorts.

998873162_234tpr.jpg.b414c79149df950e91ca55f5b16abb08.jpg

As does the rest of the entire place. How novel, huh?

Seriously, this place is ginormously awesome.

784858133_233tpr.jpg.1c44e0145eb10b4410492c1d9a3c838d.jpg

The lobby reflects traditional New England style coastal living.

Every place needs a huge globe like this. Don't ask me why. They're just cool like that.

Next stop.

The Beatles' was much better.

I mentioned the Disney Cruise Line....well, here's the bus those folks were leaving on. I LOVE the look of these....designed to mimic the ships themselves.

1188206676_cbrpooltpr.jpg.f8a4f6ddd30cf5bb8ccaca80af41105a.jpg

This is the main pool for the resort. I'm pretty sure I don't have to tell you it's being refurbed. But then again, I HAVE read the "dumbest things said" thread, so........The pool is being refurbed.

1477893810_228tpr.jpg.2513d64b227bbdb98d1d3cd3dc7213d8.jpg

On three....1...2....3......awwww.

Shannon was not bitten by any of these. lol

A look a the marina in the center of the resort.

This is a look at the outside "courtyard" area.

Old Port Royale is actually my favorite of all the WDW hotel "food courts."

426503885_223tpr.jpg.9d07e9c79766366f11a2efaad354b936.jpg

It's a festive place, eh? The limbo line was for the quests who were leaving for a Disney Cruise that morning.

Here's a map of the joint. It's actually a series of different units, each named after a different Caribbean island.

First stop on the tour. This is one of WDW's "moderately priced" resorts.

Hey look, kids! See those ominous clouds forming? Yep, looks like the rain is gonna come early today. Yippie.

Awesome thread. I enjoyed this entire thread and I'm looking forward to my trip the World later this year. I'll be staying in Disney, but not yet sure where. It's still in the early planning stages. But thanks for making me want to go even more!

This one would be the Cape May Cafe. It's a buffet style full service with a "clam bake" menu. Both Ashley and I put it on the "meh" scale. They do give you crayons and paper to draw on though.

This would be Beaches and Cream, home of the kitchen sink sundae. The kitchen sink being many "scoops of vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, coffee and mint chocolate chip, smothered in every topping we have", it's very popular and also very small and loud. It's ok, good food but always so crowded.

^Eh, I've stayed in both, and they were not that bad. Granted, the Boardwalk destroys them, but I'd much rather stay at Swan or Dolphin than the All-Stars, for example. And there's a seafood place in (I think) The Swan that is amazing.

dt

I should rephrase that. They should be moved. As in far away from the sightlines of World Showcase.

They can take that stupid Soarin' hanger with them.
