Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread

p. 438: Twizzlers Twisted Gravity announced for 2025!

Thanks for the update.

According to screamscape and the Derry Township website it seems like the park is planning on getting together and discuss about adding a tall attraction:

Stakes are starting to show up this week and I’m told that there is a local meeting at the township slated for August 19th where they will discuss a proposal from Hersheypark for something big enough to need a height limit waver for something bigger than 200 feet tall, but no taller than 350 ft. So far they’ve only identfyed it as ‘Attraction 2012”. This brings us to a unique hint Hersheypark dropped as well as on their Facebook page that said: “Youve seen Hershey from the Kissing Tower.....Youve Seen Hershey from Storm Runner.....now get ready to see Hershey from......” It seems in indicate that something tall is on the way for sure.

Below is an article that was posted on screamscape as well.

Intamin? B&M?

Hyper? Giga? Aquatrax?

Still so many possibilities for it to be.

As I mentioned before, it will be an Intamin Hyper or bigger, going along the creek towards the old golf course. They are planning to have the ride actually go through the structure of the comet, but that is still in the planning stages and could be scrapped.

Yeah, a hyper or a mini-hyper, Like Hollywood Dream, from B&M would be great! I don't know about a dive machine, but who knows?

From Intamin, a hyper would be great, or just a sit-down looper from them. But maybe HP is done with inverting coasters for a while.

Whatever they install, I hope to get out and ride it eventually!

Thanks for the defense. I know I don't post here much, but when I do, it's for good reason. I keep track of what is going on on the board. I have been visiting Hershey Park for over 20 years and have tons of contacts within HERCO and the school that owns it. The next ride at Hershey will be a major investment, and according to certain individuals familiar with the project it's going to be made and I quote "By the same guys who made Storm Runner". We all know Hershey's relationship with Intamin is very good, and it shouldn't surprise anyone that they would use them again. Anything that I post here can change, since this project is still in the planning stages. As I hear little birdies talk, I will chirp it back to you. I admit, I'm a true HP fanboy, but with

There is also discussion about Hershey adding a new attraction or 2 for next year. Some think a new water slide or two could be added to the boardwalk, or possibly that drop tower everyone has been talking about for years. That is still up in the air also. That would make sense since Hershey added nothing to the park this year. Also, be on the lookout for the tilt-a-whirl finding a new home somewhere in the park.

A possible Intamin, new water slides and finding a new home for the Tilt-A-Whirl...those would all be great things for Hershey! I was hoping that they weren't going to get rid of the T-A-W for the new coaster. Perhaps over by the Wildcat & Wild Mouse would be a fitting new home for it?

I have also been hoping for the addition of some new waterslides to the Boardwalk area. The lazy river and wave pool are nice, but they definitely need some more slides to compliment what they already have. A water coaster would certainly be a nice upgrade too!

Not that I am asking for too much here or anything!

I agree. New slides would be a nice improvement and add capacity considering the popularity of the Boardwalk. I believe the supports at the boardwalk actually have areas where additional water slides could be installed, like they were pre-fabricated with the intention of adding the waterslides at a later date. They, unfortunately, have a water coaster called Roller Soaker. It's kind of an interactive suspended coaster. People on the ground shooting water guns at you, and you have the ability of dropping water bombs on them. I actually have never had the desire or want to ride the contraption. Give me Storm Runner and Fahrenheit any day.

I am in the minority regarding Great Bear. I love that ride. The speed is awesome, and that first drop, is so unique to anything I have been on so far. But, I am a B&M fan, so I may be a little biased.

Got back Sunday from my weekend in HersheyPark. Went to see Daughtry on Friday, and then used those tickets for the concert discount the next day. Turns out that navigating the park was not as horrid as I remembered from my first trip. I feel so much better now that I was able to navigate without the map as well. Got to ride everything I wanted to ride. Whew! Started out on Great Bear. Yes, I had to. Love it! Oh wait, I mentioned that already. There was practically no line though, so we had to. Then we went to Fahrenheit. We waited about an hour. It was hot out, and the misters were wonderful. The ride was good. Very weird going up the lift. The drop, equally as weird, but I loved every second of it. Then we went over to Wild Cat. I decided to sit that one out. I am not a huge woodie fan, as usually my back yells at me for a long time on the old ones. I let the group go on it instead, and had them report back to me. There was no line, so if it was that good, we would have circled around so I could go on. After their reports, I decided against it. Then back over to Trailblazer and Storm Runner. To my surprise, I was not nervous about Storm Runner. My sister though, who has been on KK, was terrified! How, I do not know. Of course, I keep teasing her now. I think the upside down-ness with these restraints threw her a bit. But I loved it. If everyone else did not oppose, I would have waited again. (30-45 min). Then, to Sidewinder. What an odd feeling - being dragged backwards to the top before the drop. I sat in the last car, because I figured I would have less to travel backwards. I couldn't remember if I liked that from Chiller or not. Well, that was an instant headache! By the time I was off and walking though, it subsided to a whisper, and we went on our way to check out Fahrenheit's line. Yeah, OK. It was out of the queue area, wrapping around to the left of the station. Oh well, it will have to wait until next time. Then off to Great Bear again. Did I mention how I love that ride?

I will eventually get some pics up in my PTR thread. That is, if I ever finish my Florida TRs from last year! Good to hear that something new is brewing for this park! I will be going back, not sure if it will be next year, but definitely by 2012.

I love Great Bear's first part. It feels like the second part was rushed in the design stages. It seems like they were just trying to get it back to the station the easiest way possible.
