Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread

Actually I was trying to direct that at Hercules, but anyway yeah that's what I had heard. Also this doesn't confirm but it at least supports what I heard, but in Hersheypark in the dark both Skyrush trains were sitting in the queue area disassembled without any of the wheel assemblies. The steel frames were just sitting on blocks of wood, so to me that would indicate that something along those lines went wrong, but like I said I heard from some people that it had something to do with broken axles.

 

Ooh, ok, I just wasn't sure who you directed that at and didn't want to reply in the wrong way, lol. But yes, that's what I've heard too. I'm glad that it's not just me that's heard it. I'm not saying it's for sure 100% true, but it definitely could be the reason. As I mentioned above, yes some people were complaining about the restraints, but I don't think that is nearly a big enough issue to call it a "serious maintenance issue" and for the ride to be closed for 2 park "terms" (Halloween and Spring). I wonder if Hershey will ever release an official statement on the issue. A lot of people have been asking on their Facebook page, but so far Hershey hasn't said anything about it.

They are probably afraid to release anything. They propose as a family freindly park, and in this case lets say the wheel axle is the problem, then i could see people avoiding Skyrush. I mean, i wouldnt, but if a normal GP family reads that Skyrush had wheel axle problems, they would want their kids going on a dangerous ride, so to speak.

When they were sitting there, were the lapbars present?

I believe they were off actually if you look on ALT on I believe page 9 of their Hersheypark thread there are a lot of good pictures of the trains with the restraints sitting separately as well off to the side.

I believe they were posted on December 6, so that would have been during Candylane not during Halloween, my bad.

Oh, that's ok. I was just wondering if they were posted after September, so I guess that would be a yes, lol. Unfortunately, I didn't get to see much of Skyrush during Candylane because the Hollow was closed due to too much snow. Although I'm disappointed it won't be opened for Spring Time in the Park, I'm not going back to Hershey until the beginning of May (and mid August), so I hopefully it will for sure be open by then!!

Long as people don't get stuck walking in circles a foot outside the exit when they are redfaced with anger trying to leave

I tried to post a link with the photo but when I previewed my post, it says the website was banned on here so I quickly turned back. I did read the Terms and Conditions before posting, but it didn't say anything about certain websites being banned. I don't want to take any chances though. The photo is on the All-American thrills Facebook/Forum...I'm not entirely sure why their website is banned here. I'm new and I didn't see anything on the Terms and Conditions about not mentioning them...Sooo, hopefully I won't get in trouble for posting this! Please let me know if this is in fact against the rules and I'll be sure to remove the post.

Certain websites are banned because they caused trouble on TPR in the past.

Hmm, interesting. The other photo, looked a lot different, oh well. They could have just been storing stuff there and it (the other photo) looked deceiving, lol. I'm worried that they are modifying the restraints since they aren't on the car :\

Cant wait till this weekend! Looks like i will be heading over Sunday since the weather looks to be nicer than Friday and Saturday as of now. Looks like it will be nice on Easter, after our family brunch, im definetly going to head over to the park, should be dead empty by then!

Also, i cant wait to see Great Bear with its new paint job!

I can't even wait to get more photos. I got Brendon to take drive me there in February even tho it was closed, just to take photos of Skyrush from the side of the road. I took like 200+. In the summer, I'll be taking even more :$

Hersheypark facebook claims they hope Skyrush will be open soon. They also say that it will atleast not be open the FIRST weekend of STIP.

SPRINGTIME/OPENING DAY

Hersheypark opened for its annual Springtime In The Park today! While i was only there from 10-12:00 i got plenty of rides in and took lots of pictures! Great things to see below!!! My sister and i were the FIRST riders of the year on Great Bear! It was awesome having a train all to yourself, and riding a nice B&M! It was funny seeing all the GP run to Skyrush and Fahrenheit, they were not open! Fahrenheit was dummy testing till about 11:50. Here is my recap of the coasters......

 

Great Bear: First riders! Was awesome to see the re-painted Bear roaring about! Was very smooth as always, had a 5 min wait till people realized Skyrush and Fahrenheit weren't open, then about 20-30 MINS. Got 4 rides in!

Sooperdooperlooper: same as it aLways is! Looping and what not, had about a 45-60 min wait because of 1 train

Storm Runner: Can you believe it had 2 trains going?! Blew me away, got 4 rides in before the wave of people came. I must say that it ran great!

Fahrenheit: Closed until 11:50 ish, didn't get a ride in because i had to leave

Sidewinder: Still shaky but i managed 1 ride

Wildcat: It sure is wild...felt a bit smoother 1 ride

Lighting Racer: RODE AMAZING! The Thunder side was so smooth no lie! Got 3 rides in without getting off!

Comet: Line was 1h long. No thanks...

Fantastic photos! They are making me jealous, haha.

 

1) Fahrenheit's new sign looks amazing! *_*

 

2) Whoohoo! The Skyrush path is still open even tho the coaster isn't!! Not that I don't want the coaster to be open too, but during Halloween, even the path was closed.

 

3)...YES! I LOVE how they managed to "fix" or should I say modify the lap bars without actually changing the whole restraint system (does that make sense?). I (and everyone else) will still get it's amazing airtime and hopefully the wussies will stop complaining, haha. This makes me VERY happy!

I'm curious - is there a good, similar photo of the old (and the semi-old) lap bars to compare? I believe you guys that they're different and new, but I just can't see the difference for myself!
