Halloween Horror Nights: Reflections of Fear

Recommended Posts

I hope the RHPS tribute comes back for this year. That was perhaps the best part of last year's HHN. Great performers and lots of park-encouraged profanity from the audience equals a good time!

I am about 99% sure that Rocky Horror will be back. They spent a lot of money on the tracks and rights, and the audience seemed to really enjoy it over the usual Beetlejucie show which can be seen anytime. Adding a special HHN only show can only help to bring more people in.

I still remember one show I saw in 1999...maybe 2000. It was called

"Jacked Up" and was basically sexy clowns and contortionists. Loud music, strange concept, pretty much an excuse to have shirtless guys and hot girls dancing around.

When it was all over, I turned to my friend for what her opinion. I will never forget what she said: "Clown porn."

'nuff said!

^I remember seeing a show like that around HHN 1998. I can't remember what it is called now, but it had some witch who was carrying around a crystal ball. There were plenty of half-naked musclar men in the show. The girls sitting in the row behind me kept on going "Ohhh, yeah!" at the men and commented on the big buldges in the middle of the men's pants.

I was so baffled that I ended up watching the movie after the event.

So did you watch the movie on DVD, or did you trek out to a movie theater to see an authentic midnight showing? The theater is where you'll learn the most. And then you'll be prepared for this year's HHN!

And we end with some sad news. As of now, the 'Unmasking the Horror' tour is not planned to return this year. In the past this has been an awesome tour which has given lights on tours of three of the main houses. Guests were able to see the amazing detail and work put into the elaborate sets. There was also a museum with some awesome HHN collections for fans to drool over. I loved this tour and am sad to hear it is not returning. However, some HHN fan sites are urging readers to email guest services (guestservices@universalorlando.com) and the VIP tours department (viptours@universalorlando.com). I will be contacting both urging them to bring this tour back. I encourage all HHN fans to do the same.

I have to say that I disagree with contacting the park over a rumor. Unless it has been confirmed by the park, I would suggest waiting for more information before complaining.

And if you are going to e-mail the park about it, only do it if you are actually going to take the tour. Getting a bunch of e-mails in support of the tour, bringing it back (assuming it is gone), and then not getting any reservations for it certainly isn't going to encourage the park to keep it around!

Wow...an HHN thread in April! I love Halloween & is my favorite holiday (despite it not being one of those "day off" holidays), but I don't even wanna THINK about Halloween quite yet. I usually work at Busch Garden's HOS event & the thought of me in that sweaty costume this early in the year is...disturbing.

I can confirm that they are, in fact, considering dropping Unmasking The Horror. This information comes straight from a tour guide.

Key word being "considering." Which begs the question...why would they be considering it? It must have not done very well for them if they are even considering dropping it. So again I say, if you really want to keep this tour...e-mail the park letting them know you are interesting in BOOKING it, not just an e-mail saying how cool it is.

He didn't specify a reason, but I'm actually not sure why they'd stop doing this. It's an easy source of revenue, especially when you consider that the houses are otherwise unused during the day.

BTW, when I said they were considering it, I meant they've 90% made up their mind.

I sometimes read the Vault but not for a long time.

The quality of posts over there really frustrates me and a LOT of crap is written on the boards.

The regular posters are all pretty cool but also kind of harsh to people who dont post often for no apparent reason.

I would take all this with a pinch of salt!

I’m just dropping in to share with all of you Horror Nights fans a bit of information that was just left on the vault’s doorstep. In what appears to be some extremely saddening news, we’ve been informed that as of now, management at Universal does not see fit to bring back the “Unmasking the Horror” behind the scenes tour for Halloween Horror Nights 18. While I can understand that it’s not something every guest visiting Universal would want to do, the behind the scenes tours have provided fans, ‘fraidy cats, and those just plain curious a closer, in depth look at the event. For three years now, the tours have allowed guests to take a look at the incredible detail put into the event, explore the haunted houses during the day with lights on, and as of last year even had them come face to face with the art and design team responsible for creating Horror Nights each year.

The good thing about this is that it’s only April – meaning there’s plenty of time to persuade Universal otherwise. If you would like to express your concerns and feelings about this decision – feel free to send an e-mail to not only Universal’s Guest Services team, but the VIP Tours department as well. They will both guarantee that your comments reach where they need to go.

Guest Services can be e-mailed at guestservices@universalorlando.com

VIP Tours can be contacted at viptours@universalorlando.com

You can contact Guest Services by phone at 407-224-4233.

If you have experienced these wonderful tours, you know exactly what these tours mean for the event – and if you haven’t been lucky enough to go on one, that’s reason more to urge Universal to keep it going for years to come.

From David at the vault. I know some of you think that us Vaulters are full of it but this is official. Help bring it back. It was a great tour, and well worth the price tag.

This year is going to be my first HHN to attend, but I have been following the event for years (mostly because of my strange obsession with horror movies, halloween and haunted houses). Although I feel really bad about being so behind with 18. I han't heard anything about the Thing coming back...all I have really followed about 18 so far are the two surveys.

Speaking of which....if they go through with an urban legends house I hope there wont be sewer gators or myspace ghosts in it...

Haha that is good to hear. I am very excited about going... I just wish it weren't 6 months away
You don't even know. I am a full time addict and you have nothing in the off season. There might be 2 good horror movies that come out over the whole time period from November through June. In between Nov and June the best way to curve the addiction is to watch a documentary on the event.

From Screamscape...

Halloween Horror Nights 2008 - (4/16/08) For the past week or so we’ve heard it being said that Universal Orlando was dropping the Unmasking The Horror daytime behind the scenes tours. Today Universal Orlando confirmed to Screamscape that, “The Unmasking the Horror Tours will not be offered for this year’s event. Instead, we will be focusing our efforts on our nighttime tours.” While we can hope this may lead to a more revealing night tour, HHN Vault is urging anyone who would like to see the return of the daytime Unmasking tour to show their support and let the park know how you feel and has provided email address to the right departments.

Well that's what I thought, but is it official that its only in the studios? Because, you see, I don't usually believe anything until the teasers start to come out in June. That's when the real deal starts to come out. But either way, it sounds good.

Personally I would like to see the director again, but then again, one of my favorite HHN's was 14, with no icons (bar Horror Nights Nightmares) and just a lot of cool houses and scarezones. I thought DISO was a great house!

ADMIN EDIT: I notice you are new, and thank you for joining, but please mind the TOS regarding spelling and grammar. I went through and edited this post for you. Thank you! -- Colin

Your friend is one unoriginal bastard. Even Sweet 16 wasn't that ridiculous.
