P. 274: Pipeline photos & Howl-O-Scream trip report!

It's the shape of that drop, you'll get a nice initial pop or ejector and the parabolic second half is going to keep you off your seat the whole way down.

If what you say is gonna be true, than Mako's drop will kinda be like Skyrush's drop in reverse (I heard Skyrush's drop has floater when it starts, and ejector at the end).

B&M has been trending up since Banshee was built and I've had this thought that perhaps some younger engineers are starting to get into the mix in their company and are starting to push the limits a bit more. I mean Walter and Claude are getting pretty old, and if they want their business to continue after they're gone, they're going to have start grooming their successors. That's my random thought for the day.

Was the designer of Mako ever revealed?

I know that there are some people that think Mako will not be too exciting...but I think this will be a fun ride! There really aren't a lot of airtime coasters in Florida and I'm glad that Florida is finally getting a B&M Hypercoaster! When this was announced...I was hoping the drop was going to be a steep one. Goliath at SFOG really doesn't have that steep of a drop. I'm excited to take a back row ride on Mako when it opens to feel the ejector air on this drop! I personally think this is going to be a great turn out for SeaWorld and a fantastic ride!

I love that Jack Hanna's relationship with SeaWorld has remained so strong after all of these years. I remember seeing him live in the parks growing up at SeaWorld, and I remember his pre-show videos that would play before the start of the Shamu Adventure show that ran before Believe replaced it.

He is correct... SeaWorld is important, and I'm glad that someone so respected in the community continues to recognize this.

Who knows.. Why is the bottom of apollos chariot flat? Why is the section after the helix on sros flat? It's just a part of the layout, one of many ways for them to build track that navigates from point a to point b! Its a very short little section where they couldn't have fit anything else, so if anything it will enhance the effect of the speed..

  • 2 weeks later...
Crews are currently working on the hammer head turn (the one after the first drop). They're working on the descent.

Pictures by any chance??

Thats one of the nice things about the CP thread. When someone makes a comment like that, you usually get a pic. However, then some kid usually complains about people posting pictures

After looking at those photos up there ^^ and seeing ones on facebook, its very interesting to see how they are constructing Mako. I've never seen a park build the track right along one another like how they are here. Usually they go in the direction of travel, start with the brakes, into the station, then the lift, drop and so forth. I wonder why they are doing this.

^Just a wild guess, but I think that maybe it could be due to the restrictions of the construction site. As you can see in the attached picture there isn't alot of space around the ride for equipment, so maybe they want to finish everything in one area before moving on.

Oh and I just have to say one thing.... my god those colours are beautiful!!!

Dang that is one STEEP maneuver there.

Ever since this coaster was announced, I've been really optimistic that it will be one of the best B&M hypers out there simply because it seems to have a bit more "spunk and personality" in its layout than other hypers like Diamondback or Intimidator. Things like the short flat section at the bottom of the first drop, the speed hill before the MCBR, and the twisty finale should give the ride a better sense of variety and faster pacing. I'm looking forward to trying this one out!
