Angry_Gumball
Something funny I saw: While I was the Star Tower, I saw a half naked guy on the Gold Striker twirling his shirt around. The operator and I were laughing. Quite creepy... Reminds me of the dudes I saw in speedo's....not exactly something I planned on seeing in the water park. And the worst part is you can never un see that! Precisely...one can't simply un-see what he just saw ...and it wasn't exactly something is like to see in a waterpark again. Flagg O'Dim
Saw Flag o dimm on my way out too, hey now Hey, thanks for the kudos on my trip report while I was waiting in Gold Striker's line! I didn't get a chance to ask which TPR member you were. Great rides as always on Gold Striker (bringing my total to 14). After our third ride on it, rjvader and I decided to head over to Grizzly just to say that we did. It looked like it had a less than 10 minute wait, so we took off. That's way too long to wait for Grizzly! It's awesome to be able to get off one ride and say, "Let's go ride Gold Striker."
Angry_Gumball
^Honestly, I don't bother with Grizzly anymore...that valuable time in line could be spent for waiting for a fine quality woodie up front. I'd easily wait an hour for Gold Striker...if the line's only in the station, I *may* give Grizzly a courtesy ride but not much more than that now...meaning, TAER IT DOWN!!! Yes I'm aware it's a.... ....(refraining from saying 'good')...family coaster, something li'l Jimmy can ride as his first large scale coaster...it was my first coaster of a larger scale...but Giant Dipper was the one that actually got me coaster obsessed about 2 years later...see? I even knew better as a young'un that Grizzly was pretty bad..and that was before being a true coaster enthusiast! Going to the park Sunday, going to hit my 60+ laps on GS!...Curious how the Firefall storage box works as the entrance and exit are on opposite ends of the ride. We typically have a few members of our party that don't do Firefall so we've had them be our bag watchers while we ride. Now while we're on the topic of GS, let's take a little trip to the past...a trip to last late spring/early summer...and let's take a quick 8-minute ride to present day! Figured I've got to do something with all the photos that are sitting there on my hard drive and a lot quicker than sifting through 100's of pages to find a park update...a very fun thing to watch! VF7
Hey CGA TPR. Thanks for an awesome spring with Gold Striker opening, leaning how to snap, and Coasting for Kids today. If you are going to be at Disney, Knotts, or SFMM this summer let me know. Have fun with Goldy! And don't break Eagles.

#1rollercoasterfan
Huh didn't open by 11? That's too bad. Wonder what the problem is. Hope they get it open! When I was there right at 10 I had to wait in front of it for around 45 min for them to open the line.
Swornenemy
It's close to opening. There doing test runs now, watching it in person is really something. It hauls some serious.
#1rollercoasterfan
Testing is a good sign. I would just stay by it. Means it should open any time now! Get the front seat! I know they don't like seat requests but I asked for the front 2 times & the guy didn't mind putting me in front.
rolercstrluvr
I'll be out there in a bit, just waiting for the mail to come in as my GF (Rawkin_coaster38) had my pass.
JJnCFL
Had a great time with the gang this past weekend! Got to ride Goldy 4 times yesterday (Sunday) making my total to almost 70 rides altogether so far! Had the smoothest ride ever on Demon on the red train (cray cray!), and the return of the gang on Flying Eagles! Anywho, here are pics from last week's Gold Striker Grand Opening, better late than never! Getting ready... Extra queue setup from afar.. Getting excited! Met a new TPR member, Sam, all the way from Tennessee! Lucky that her job had her fly to SF for the week and got to sneak on down! Test run! Taking pics of people taking pics of me taking pics... Rally Towels ready to go! The lucky herd awaits.... Ready to go! BFG is ready! Rawkin is ready! The GP awaits... Back in line we go! Train! Closeup! From Star Tower! I spy a familiar face or 2.... More train shots from above! About to hit the double up The double up and the great walls of Goldy... And ending with a big giant personal pizza (enough to feed 4 people!) at Frankie's Pizza! Definitely a great deal if you're at the park for $10!

Angry_Gumball
Just a quick writeup from yesterday's visit. The park's crowds were pretty light to medium including Gold Striker for most of the day. The switchbacks were about half full and like last week, many people kept leaving the line as it was 'too long.' Yet people will gladly wait for Grizzly in the back. Wait times were still however about the same as last weekend, averaging about 40 minutes. Last ride of the day though was probably a good 50 minute wait with a full queue. I also ran into a few TPR members as yesterday was Coasting for Kids...a couple new faces, and some familiar ones I took a few photos as I'm a bit saddened at what has happened within a week's time over at Gold Striker. I know it's inevitable but at the same time, it upsets me that people would really thrash something so quick as it just opened. Yup I'm ready for another CGA session! And so is the little rubber fetus I got over at the San Mateo County Fair the day before Since GS had opened, I haven't taken any photos from here. We were waiting for Rolercstrluver to take care of something over at guest services. And now that I've set the stage, let's now view the so-called "Vandalism TR"... Nerd vandalism...quadratic formula anyone? This is apparently a stomping ground for little unsupervised kids now...poor cacti/plants... ... looks like a stampede went through here... Ok, let's see how stupid we can go...who vandalizes something and puts their name out there? I hope you rat yourself out ... Am I in a gas station restroom in Oakland or am I in Great America? Little fetus isn't too happy... Apparently this is the trash can...not those plastic bins, branded with Cedar Fair, lined with black plastic liners... At one point though Gold Striker's line did poke out...this was after we had gotten off the first ride. This line didn't last long though. Just our luck riding White Water Falls, our row comes to greet us with this... I'll close this quick writeup with something to ponder...why on earth does Vortex's support base look charred? Domm
Adding on to vandalism in the GS queue- when I was there on Thursday afternoon some gangsta kids behind me were mimicking carving into the wooden rail with their thumb on the stairs going up to the station and out of nowhere a CGA employee came out and ripped those sucka's out of line Hope this place isn't a wreck tomorrow, gonna have another go at lunch! Are you in Laqueefa?
peetnik
I rode Gold Striker during coasting for kids. It is an amazing ride. It is so fast you lose track of where you are. It has some serious airtime. I would highly recommend it.

Glad to see that the park is putting their foot down. Hopefully that sign I posted on the previous page isn't just a scare tactic but that they actually have something enforced...I'll share it again: There is 1 camera that is pretty obvious...and it has caught people trying to use the emergency exit near Star Tower to let their friends in. I did notice security around Gold Striker quite a bit yesterday too so maybe... This should also keep line jumpers in check once this is fully implemented. Swornenemy
Just got home from the park not too long ago, I gotta say I was a little discouraged when I was walking up to the front gate there was a sign saying Gold Striker was closed. But when I got into the park there was an employee by gold strikers entrance telling people that it would open a little later The park was a little busy at the beginning of the day with all the busses in the parking lot, I counted about 20 while going up the lift on flight deck. As soon as all the school kids left nearly everything was a walk on. Best part of the day for me was finally riding Gold Striker. There's not a lot I can say that hasn't already been said about it. The pacing is awesome, all the pops of air , just the intensity of it was amazing. I felt wore out after riding it, just the sheer amount if adrenalin pumping through my body while on the ride. There is no doubt in my mind that it is the best ride in the park.
#1rollercoasterfan
^& Flight Deck the other best one. I am so glad CF is finally really starting to enforce line jumpers. I'm tired of them pushing past us waiting in line to catch up with their friends. That's awesome Gold Striker is under high security camera to catch those idiots. Grizzly though so needs to go. It will shortly decline it's popularity because of Gold Striker. A nice launcher or a height modified I305 would fit so nicely in there!!!
Condor
a height modified I305 would fit so nicely in there!!! I think that is exactly what they are going to do. Look for it in 2014 if not sooner.

Swornenemy
Out of curiosity, how popular is Vortex? I never hear too much about it on here. When there is a crowd the line fills up the queue, on slow days its a walk on.
peetnik
Vortex is actually not a very good coaster. It is quite slow and it is a head banger. I had to get off after 3 rides during cfk because I had a headache from banging my head on the restraints constantly. I would recommend skipping this ride especially if there is a line. Angry_Gumball
As I do...If the line's short to non existent, then I'll ride it. If the line goes well past the stairs, I'll not even think twice about it and head over the superior B&M in the park, or now that GS is open, I'll hop in line for that (regardless of length). Swornenemy
With vortex I'll only ride it once a visit as i dont want a headache. But demon, flight deck, psycho mouse and gold striker i will give multiple rides. And for grizzly I just watch it go around the 10 minute turn around and laugh.
