CGA_88
FireFall is definitely having some issues this year. When it is running, it either opens late or is open sporadically throughout the day. It's pretty much a hit or miss this season.
Angry_Gumball
It's debut season, I think it had ran fine, rode it numerous times. My last visit, this last weekend, the ride was dead as it was a month or so prior. It had the "Sorry, this attraction is closed" sign with no mechanics, confirming that it won't be open anytime that day.
Angry_Gumball
Not sure how reliable of a source Screamscape is, but it's saying that it looks like the Screamin' Swing from KBF could be headed our way as Demon Drop takes over that spot. They stated that one of the possible spots could be between Drop Tower and Grizzly (Right in the area where you enter Toy Factory, to the right of the Grizzly Entrance). KGA29
I wouldn't mind as long as it isn't an upcharge. Paying for a little ride like that is so not worth it. However, if it isn't an upcharge, lines will be very long.
Angry_Gumball
It will probably be upcharge due to it's low capacity, 8 riders per cycle. Too bad it couldn't be upgraded to have 8 riders per swing, totaling to 16 riders/cycle. Granted this is Screamscape and I've seen 'false rumors' before, only time will tell. It sounds more like what could be a possibility.
Sunfire
I just thought, with all the Nick stuff being replaced to make way for Snoopy, what will they put in the Action FX Theater? Right now it's playing the Spongebob 3D film, so they'll have to replace that too. Any speculations as to what they will put in its place?
Tmcdllr
If they got rid of that theater they could use that space for a station/que for a Vertical Velocity type coaster that could go right behind it in Tidal Wave's old spot... is that ironic or just an upgrade? That theater is awful or the movies are or both, I just don't think they need it. Last time I 'rode' it seemed run down and the projected image was very dim. Is it even popular anymore? Angry_Gumball
Does any other Cedar Fair parks have motion simulator rides (Not counting the ex-paramount parks)? Should be interesting. My guess is that maybe something like 7th Portal or whatever else they had (Not including Days of Thunder) running...or the theater will just go dark until further notice. And a random note: Firefall no longer flips? What's up with that? Seems like the brake release timing is either out of whack or the gondola has too much friction preventing it from flipping. Tmcdllr
If that theater goes dark then it will be more storage like the Pictorium, which is sad because they could really make better use of the spaces by removing both. I was never really a fan of these simulators, they just never seemed right, it just felt strange. The Pictorium was awesome, the screen was so big you didn't need moving seats, you really had the sensation of flying, falling, etc.
the ghost
Not meaning to change the subject of the motion theater, but what is the ending on toy factory. I heard it was like dangerous or something, an being from so cal I am not going to drive 5 hours for a haunt. Also, for those of you that have been how does toy factory compare to the doll factory at knotts?
Sunfire
^I'll PM you the ending so I don't spoil it for anyone else going to Haunt.
Angry_Gumball
My brother's going to be in for a nice treat with Toy Factory's ending when we Haunt again this friday. Though I told him what it is, actually experiencing it is another story.
jray21
I loved the Pictorium IMAX movies as a kid. I wish they still had it. It was also a great way to escape the heat in the middle of the day.
Airtime&Gravity
In addition to Planet Snoopy, CGA will receive Knott's old Screamin Swing. California’s Great America officials expect the Screamin’ Swing ride at Knott’s Berry Farm to be relocated to the Santa Clara theme park by summer 2010. Knott’s is removing the pneumatically powered pendulum swing ride to make room for Demon Drop, a 26-year-old thrill ride being removed from Cedar Point and relocated to the Buena Park theme park. Confused? Think of it as a white elephant Christmas in which the California theme parks get regifted presents in 2010 as parent company Cedar Fair bestows the big prizes on Virginia’s Kings Dominion (a $25-million coaster), North Carolina’s Carowinds (a $23-million coaster) and Ohio’s Cedar Point (a $10.5-million water ride). The rewrapping theme continues in 2010, as Great America will convert the Kidzville and Nickelodeon Central kiddie lands into Planet Snoopy, with the existing children’s areas repopulated with “Peanuts” characters and re-themed rides. Meanwhile, Great America’s oft-delayed wooden coaster, announced in 2007 with great fanfare and much anticipation, remains in bureaucratic limbo. jray21
Definitely a white elephant gift. They just keep shooting themselves in the foot. It seems they give new rides to places only as a last resort, instead of a constant flow and update to all parks to keep the money coming in. Sure some parks are not performing, but in the amusement industry you have to keep ahead of the game always, or be left behind like Great America. They let everything run down, get a few small flat rides every now and then, announce a woodie and then don't deliver, and they wonder why no one visits. They blame it on the locals, but it was busy when Marriott had it and updated it constantly.
KGA29
While I'm kinda excited that we're getting something other than Planet Snoopy, I'm pretty much disappointed again that it's going to be a hand-me-down, upcharge ride. I'd rather get Demon Drop from CP. CGA hasn't gotten a brand new ride since 2006 with Survivor. 2007 was the wave pool, 2008 was GL's top spin, and 2009 was just a BMX show. Every other CF park (except GG) has gotten at least one coaster from 2007 and on.
Angry_Gumball
It would be nice if the Screamin Swing wasn't an upcharge...but capacity-wise, I'm sure it will be.
Tmcdllr
And once again CGA gets the shaft! This is total crap! So now what, 11 years without a coaster?
Angry_Gumball
Most of those years aren't really on Cedar Fair for not adding a coaster. I honestly would say, give it another season or so and we'll start seeing something. CGA's last coaster was Psycho Mouse in 2001. And the Screamin Swing looks like it could be a nice addition for the park...I just wish that it wasn't an upcharge. Wasn't Michigan's Adventure a little slow too when Cedar Fair took over? Looking at their records, 1999 was the last coaster before getting a hand-me-down SLC last year. So about 9 years with no coaster.
Patman
I'm just hoping that the screamin swing works when it's put together. (If we get it.) Last year we got Firefall and for two seasons now it's been the park's downtime king.
Tmcdllr
Yeah I'm weary of used rides too.
Sunfire
^^Well, the Screamin' Swing isn't as old as Firefall. The swing has probably been around for like 3 or 4 years tops, but Firefall was at GL for practically 13 years before it came to CGA. I think the swing won't have as many problems. Angry_Gumball
Aren't S&S rides pretty reliable anyway? And speaking of downtime king, I remember when I first started visiting CGA in 07, Survivor seemed to be the constant downtime ride. Now it's what I dub "Fire Fail" as most of my visits this season it's been...well, dead! And now it doesn't even flip. The timing seems out of whack on it. Tmcdllr
Does anybody know where the swing is supposed to go?
Angry_Gumball
One of the rumors states (rumor superthread material?) that the swing may be placed by Grizzly and Drop Tower. I'm guessing that it will live to the right of Grizzly's entrance. Should be interesting if they decide to use the arcade for Toy Factory next year as it's entrance and queue area will be occupied. I'm a bit unsure of this location though due to how much outward space the swing may consume...the swings swing pretty far out.
