Swornenemy
There is plenty of room to build. Even with the height restriction there are ways around it. Didn't they put some sort of flashing light on top of drop tower so the pilots know there is something there so they could build it that tall. Tmcdllr
Obstruction warning lights are required on anything that tall in the area.
Angry_Gumball
Just like rolercstrluvr said, Gold Striker will open this month and it should open before Memorial Day. When Cedar Point built Maverick, they demo'd both their raft ride and their last flume ride. (the other one was demo'd for the B&M Raptor) They used the flume station and built Maverick inside of it's raft ride's troughs. (Hmmmmm, I wonder if Great America has an aging flume ride and raft ride that are near each other?) Not saying I believe they want to remove more rides, but the "Point" is (get it?) anything is possible with Cedar Fair. If the park were to remove Loggers Run for a coaster I wouldn't care too much. Sure I would miss it, but if an amazing coaster were to replace it then that would be fantastic! However I doubt the park would remove the rapids ride as well. Rapids & Logger's Run are still big crowd pleasers and plus it would lessen the number of water rides if they removed them. I could see Whitewater Falls going which would leave a lot of real estate for a coaster (a la like the former sister SFGAm) and wrap around, over, next to and/or under the Demon, though you'd have to deal with the offices next door again. Remember CGA is only 100 acres not 300+ like CP, as CP added a newer flume ride with Shoot The Rapids afterwards. I could imagine a coaster being built over the Rapids as well, with a station next to the covered bridge. Removing the log flume would be a pretty large kick to the stomach in my opinion. Sure they have the water park, an Intamin Spillwater, and a Rapids ride but the abundance of water rides for those hot summer days help keep the water rides from getting too over-crowded. I do agree, if the park wants something, they will find a way to get it to work...even if it's shoehorning it in and building on top of other things...look at how Pony Express was put in over the rapids down at Knotts, as well as how a longer length coaster is spread out over the midways (Jaguar)...or Silver Bullet built, towering the carousel...Ok I don't want CGA's carousel being dwarfed/hidden by a coaster... jarmart
Hello all! Jar here. I've been a visitor to this forum for quite a while now and finally decided to join the conversation. As much as I am excited for the GP to experience Gold Striker (which is my favorite coaster at the park now), I am also excited for the future of this park. I can't help but imagine what coaster we will receive next. My guess is probably as good as anyone else's. But I think with the closure of the KidZville River Adventure, I have a feeling the next addition will utilize the Invertigo, Tidal Wave, and River Adventure area. I definitely think the park has room for more rides. There's the space near the lake and the under-utilized pavilion or they can just get rid of Grizzly . Also about the height limit, we have Drop Tower which is a little over 200 feet, so we can't count a hypercoaster out. Didn't we almost get one anyways during the Paramount days? Swornenemy
^yez, we were rumored to get hypersonic xlc. Not quite 200 feet but would have been taller that anything else that we have.

I imagine the same thing as well. *has fantasy about a Mack LSM launcher built over the rapids* As for the InvertiGarden...I would like to see at least something pop up. I am currently fantasizing about a Gerstlauer Sky Roller or Sky Fly being built there. The beauty that comes with a ride like that (almost any controllable ride really) is that the ride experience can be anywhere from relaxing to OMFG intense depending on what the rider does. SoCalCoasters
Not sure about you guys, but every time I visit CGA, the Log Ride has a huge line. Considering they did all that refurb work around it this past offseason I can't imagine that they'd get rid of it anytime soon.
Swornenemy
Loggers run won't be going anywhere. The could actually work around it if they wanted to put a coaster there. ^yez, we were rumored to get hypersonic xlc. Not quite 200 feet but would have been taller that anything else that we have. GayCoasterGuy
That would stink if Logger's Run was gone. I've never been to the park, but my home park is the other Great America and in the past few years, I've gotten more and more grateful that we still have both of our original flume rides. Cedar Fair has been hell bent on removing classic rides from parks (Zambezi Zinger, Laser, Wildcat, numerous log flumes, etc.). I could see them eventually putting in one of those good looking but nowhere-near-as-fun Intamin semi-flume rides. Of course there are reasons they are removing the older rides - but that makes me appreciate places like my home park Great America even more. Despite being a Six Flags, they have gone over and above to keep some great old classic rides: Whizzer, log rides; even Lobster/East River Crawler is coming back this year after having a full year in rehab. People have loved those rides for year, and the park put a little extra to keep them in great shape for many years to come. Any one of the big parks has space to put whatever they want, if they want; nothing has to be removed to do so. Just look to Grona Lund, Indiana Beach, Blackpool, etc. If they want to, they will. "There is not enough room" is a lame excuse for stuff like the ending on Leviathan. There is plenty of space to do what they could have done (an ending to the ride, a splashdown perhaps) if they wanted to pony up the money. RCTbrony
^ I do also find that humorous But I'll be at the park on May 21st and 22nd as this is during my finals week and I only have finals on Monday (yay for being a senior and AP classes!).

#1rollercoasterfan
Word of warning those 2 days May 21st & 22nd will be crazy at the park. Sunfire said that those days have a lot of school crowds & the lines are very long since he has worked at the park around those days. I wanted to go one of those days but I'm going with Sunfire taking his advice about not going. However Memorial week should be nice. Somebody went last year on Thursday of Memorial week & everything was a walk on. I was going Wed the 29th & avoiding next week.
rolercstrluvr
I guess that we'll just have to wait and see about the 21st, we'll have three people there. RCTBrony, Robman, and myself. Even if we don't get to ride much, we can still go ride the small flat rides and have a fun time.

I don't care if im not able to go on whatever ride because it's busy, I enjoy walking around just as much as I do riding rides. Whenever I step into a park I feel somewhat relieved since I don't need to worry about the outside world and it's someplace to escape for awhile. Well, we are coaster nerds Most of us think it, but just won't say it Remember when a new coaster came every 5 years or so? We are spoiled, in some ways. Honestly, I'm getting over the whole "OMG CGA is crowded" thing...I've had 6 seasons to get adjusted to this. Sure I like a quieter park, less idiots and line jumpers but when I'm at the park, half the fun is being away from reality/work/obligations and instead, hanging out with the group...and of course hopping on rides even if it's the flat rides
#1rollercoasterfan
Well I don't go no where near as much as you even though I have a season pass so that's why I'm a little picky crowd wise. Hey I saw Gold Striker's commercial on TV again tonight said launching soon. Hm. Well can't be this weekend haven't heard anything MUST be next weekend then.
