JJnCFL
We just posted some photos over on our Facebook of the latest park happenings. https://www.facebook.com/cagreatamerica Check out photos of Demon & Flight Deck's new paint job, as well as a few other surprises. Thanks for the updates, glad to see the park getting much deserved TLC. The main things that keep a coaster operational are cost of ownership and popularity. Grizzly obviously gets enough ridership to keep it running. When I was a ride op/supervisor back in 2002 & 2003, I remember getting a challenge from my manager to see what area could get the highest ridership while still prioritizing safety of course. When I was at Grizzly we were averaging 5-6K riders. After the challenge was set, we were able to bust our butt to hit just shy of 10K daily riders. We became in competition with the Demon crew which set the standard hitting high ridership and being the first team to hit 10K in our area, as our motivation for fast cycles. We'd try our best to dispatch the train right after the dreaded high speed second turnover. Those were the best summers I can remember.
XYZ
On CGA's facebook I found this photo very interesting because the white primer paint on Demon looks exactly like the Turn of the Century's colors. So, a blast from the past.
AnonymousReed
We all want Grizzly to die just like how I wanted Psyclone at SFMM to die and it eventually did. Just wait a couple of years and CGA will make the best decision in the theme park industry. But what would suck is if they replaced the Grizzly with another terrible coaster like a Dueling Vekoma Boomerang or even a relocated TOGO coaster. That would suck. The49er
^^Don't kill me, but I don't really mind Grizzly. It's the only coaster that I can re-ride - I guess I deter lines... About the GCI: I'm so excited! Isn't this thing supposed to be bigger than Roar? Now THAT is awesome! Now, if they would just add that EuroFighter (heck, what about a Skyloop?)... Sorry, but keep wishing, it ain't coming true. Enthusiasts supposedly wished for it to die for over a decade and Cedar Fair is not going to pull the plug. Trust me, there is going to be no dueling Vekoma boomerangs or a relocated TOGO coaster. Plus, the only TOGOs that CF has now is SkyRider & Shockwave, each of which would be scrap metal if replaced. Ouimet would never allow dueling Vekoma boomerangs unless he and the rest of CF executives become insane savages.
CoasterBeagle
^"Little kids" can't go on Grizzly. It has a 48 inch height requirement. But beside that little detail, I agree that Grizzly should stay, it's a substantial part to the park's skyline and appearance. What I was trying to explain about grizzly being coasters for "little kids". Kids over 48 inches are still little. They may be the height requirement but are you telling me that you haven't seen a kid that seemed small for the seat. Their body frame was just small. That's what I mean by little. Also when I was a kid I was terrified of upside down coasters so I would always go on the grizzly. My thought process was "this is a big rollercoaster". (pyscho mouse wasn't there). Grizzly is there for kids who need that confidence boost. I personally would rather pyscho mouse gone because its such a painful design. My lower back hurts more coming off pyscho mouse then grizzly. Grizzly is a hell of a lot smoother then gwazi at BGT and the beast KI. Gwazi caused pain in my lower back and breasts while the beast hurt my lower back and knees. I never had that problem on grizzly ever.

Flagg O'Dim
CGA's adding a wheelchair elevator for Vortex and Logger's Run: http://smartpermit.santaclaraca.gov/tm_bin/tmw_cmd.pl?tmw_cmd=StatusViewCase&shl_caseno=BLD2012-27923 http://smartpermit.santaclaraca.gov/tm_bin/tmw_cmd.pl?tmw_cmd=StatusViewCase&shl_caseno=BLD2012-27922

Tmcdllr
A wheelchair elevator for a stand-up coaster? Who thought of THAT gem? They probably were required to do that but I agree, how does that work and aren't you required to stand on this ride?
Angry_Gumball
I guess I never thought about that. But like mentioned, it was probably an ADA requirement so that everything is accessible to everyone. RAWKIN_coaster38
A wheelchair elevator for a stand-up coaster? Who thought of THAT gem? THIS Vortex is going to be quite a painful experience for wheelchair-dependent guests. and THIS Totally made my night.
jray21
Yeah, that is definitely weird. I wonder why it would be required. Waterparks aren't required to have elevators and such because of the physical requirements for riding the rides. I don't see how Vortex would require one based on the same criteria. RAWKIN_coaster38
Well ... I think lots of people request wheelchairs because they don't have the strength to walk around all day at the park. So someone needing a wheelchair =/= not being able to stand. But still, it's funny to think about someone with no use of their legs trying to ride vortex. jray21
^I think your right, I guess waterparks get around it because they also require strong use of arms and legs for when the rafts flip over. Interesting.

Double0Kevin
It doesn't really matter the dynamic of the ride. ADA still requires they provide access.
australianalex
But once they get on the ride they'll be rejected...?
Tmcdllr
Access to the loading platform but doesn't it violate some safety procedure or something if the rider cannot stand up? I don't know why but this makes me remember the tragedy of the limbless person that flew out of a rollercoaster because the restraints were designed for people with limbs but he had none, not the same thing here but I can't help but think of it. Nibbler
As previously mentioned, you all assume just because a guest is in a wheelchair means they can't walk or stand on their own, which is not the case. Remember that there is still the bottom portion of the restraints which guests can sit on as needed.
