Media day is tomorrow, and I just got the invite!

I guess it's better late than never, but you think they would've given you a bit more warning! I hope it's not too busy with them announcing the opening online, and then having media day in the morning. Do they open at 11 tomorrow?

^ Just checked the site, says tomorrow the park will be open 10am-10pm, with the opening ceremony at 11am. Not only am I looking forward to the 10am ride tomorrow, I am also looking forward to having my first true night rides on this beast.

And yeah...I wish they would have gave us a warning in advance for this, it feels quite sudden. During my visit today, I had NO IDEA they'd soft open the ride in the late afternoon. I was just exiting Psycho Mouse (which had an unusually short line) when I heard the announcement on the speakers, and then I just booked it towards the coaster (and I normally don't run in theme parks). It really was very sudden, and I thought nothing of the ride opening until the announcement.

Night rides are going to be awesome, the main reason why I'm going to actually hop on the Capitol Corridor tomorrow after work (avoid freeway traffic too). Should give me a good several hours to ride! Then come Sunday for a true full day at the park!

Now that Gold Striker Gifts is open, I am going to have to seriously discipline myself from grabbing my wallet and buying more Gold Striker goods...definitely nabbing those hardhats though! And yes I will bring my hardhat along on future visits and wear it around the park It's like rocking the Mickey ears at Disney . I saw lots of other neat goodies in the shop too when I peered through the doors last weekend.

Gumball, I look forward to your review of GS in the dark. I thought it was amazing at dusk, so it should be absolutely fantastic in the dark!

I am going to go out on a limb and guess he will call it the best thing since sliced bread...

I'm really glad to see Gold Striker finally open to the public, i'd also like to thank Robb Alvey again for giving us all the opportunity to be a part of the Grand opening ceremonies. Really can't wait to ride GS again, it's an amazing ride from start to finish, CGA has a world class coaster here.

So anybody who was at the park yesterday Friday what exactly did they say on the loud speaker when they announced Gold Striker's running? Curious to know. Darn it. I missed it by 2 days! I was there Wednesday. I plan on going Tuesday though. Will the lines be any sorter for Gold Striker Tuesday? & How has Gold Striker's line been today? & What were those 24 riders for Robb needed was that for special ERT?

Shouldn't you be thanking CGA? They are the ones who put on this fantastic event and were kind enough to invite TPR. Not tomention giving you the honor of being in the first train.

Thank you CGA for putting on such an incredible grand opening event for Gold Striker. I want to give a huge thanks to CGA's Roger, Ryan, Kristin and the rest of the staff who really went above and beyond to make sure everything went smoothly and amazing!

I was fortunate enough to be invited as a media VIP, which came with a Gold Striker goodie bag filled with a T-shirt, gold bar USB drive and a block of wood with the logo branded on the front. Also was able to nab a Gold Striker towel for being one of the first 9,000 riders!

After a short ceremony, the ribbon was cut, resulting in fireworks shooting up along the lift hill and other places as the first train of the day made its way through the course.

As we were being led to the station by Ryan, some of the onlookers cheered us on. It was a cool feeling.

One train was set up with the GoPro camera, so we had to wait our turn. The video came out great, and CGA even posted it on their social media websites!

After nine laps during the promo shoot, my brother (TPR member rjvader) and I were finally able to ride in the very front. I love being the first into the tunnel and being able to peer down the steep descent.

The infamous soundwalls that likely delayed the ride's opening actually add to the ride experience. Hand choppers are everywhere! Also, it doesn't really seem to dampen the sound much, which I was glad to hear! The only wall that I found annoying was the one coming out of the tunnel. It makes it impossible to get a good photograph of the train while you're standing in Star Tower Plaza.

Gold Striker is an outstanding coaster. You really have to ride it; pictures and text don't do it justice.

Thank you Flagg O'Dim for the media day report. I would agree that Roger, Ryan and Clayton really did a fantastic job

Many congratulations to the entire CGA team on a terrific new ride, and a celebration worthy not only of the ride itself, but all of the hard work that went into reaching this point.

Good point, I was just typing away and forgot to mention it. But yes, I would also like to thank CGA for such a great opportunity today. It was totally surreal riding up the lift-hill and seeing fireworks go off above my head and everywhere else.

Though only at the park for a few short hours I had a great time wth the gang! I got in 2 rides on Goldy, a ride on Flight Deck, and one on Orbit! Night rides on GS were awesome but wish it were truly dark...lots of light pollution. Still an awesome experience though!

I'll post a full on report late tomorrow.

Awesome update and review of the event! My first ride on gold striker tonight at 10:00pm was unbelievable! It's hard to describe how fast this thing is and how much air you get!! It felt like the train was doing bunny hops over the track there was so much air time... Just crazy. Doesn't even compare to Apocalypse. Hope to get a first ride in tomorrow getting there early at 9:30!

Laqueefa was right about getting the fast pass for this. I can't imagine that line in the middle of the day. The heat would be unbearable... they gotta cover that up quick

Man, this was a HOT day (both weather-wise and new hotness) at the park! A huge thanks to CGA for putting together this event and giving a great time. It really was very surreal, being on that pyro-train, it was just crazy! Finally got my first night rides in on GS, and like Angry_Gumball said, it wasn't really dark due to light pollution, but still insanely kick A$$ nonetheless. The park definitely has a winner on their hands here, and I am looking forward to riding it again next weekend!

I'm looking forward to riding this more tomorrow! (Later today?) Media day was well covered, thanks Flagg! I'll focus on general park crowds and such as well as shooting some off ride footage. Yes as a photographer I'm also disliking that inside wall Once you come out the queue tunnel you actually get some nice views of the track straight on!

I also met up with the group tonight and had a great time. Finally got my first ride on Goldy, and wow! I heard everyone raving about it but it still exceeded my already high expectations. Such a fantastic new coaster with a twisted and unique layout, with plenty of airtime! Wait times were pretty long as expected, though I was surprised that the line stayed mostly within the switchbacks, I only saw it spill out into the midway maybe once. CGA has a winner on their hands!

How many rides did those get in when they were there at 10am yesterday for the special event? & What a nice goodie bag treat on top. CGA has sure gone out of their way to celebrate a nice new kick a$$ coaster! Wish I signed up to be there at 10. How very cute. Snoopy cutting the ribbon. Loved the pic of the fireworks going off as the car was going up the hill. Can't wait for Tuesday.
