Also Vortex might get a new coat of paint for 2014

I asked Roger Ross about Vortex, and he jokingly said, "Vortex needs it so bad, I might just get up there and paint it myself!" hahaha!

I'll gladly volunteer to help.

instead I see Vortex as actually being a decent forceful little Beemer, killed by its roughness. We can save the polished turd analogy for something else that sits in the back corner

 

How about Vortex being a newly themed (with new name) sit down, lap bar only ride? The "center of gravity" argument is moot. People have said "B&M would never ever ever do that" but those same people also insisted B&M would never allow one of their rides to be turned backwards. We really don't know... the stand-up coaster fad is long over, why not just make it a great comfortable roller coaster? Ok, I'll get my head out of the coaster-nerd-fantasy-cloud now. (But it's still a cool idea!)

I know Vortex has never been super-popular, but I don't think it ever reached the level of PAIN that Iron Wolf did. The original green/black paint job was the best. Maybe I'm missing something, but didn't Vortex just get primer in spots?

I'm going to be visiting this park the first weekend of April and I've never been, I have a few questions.

 

1. What would the lines be like on a Sunday?

2. I've never been on a stand up coaster before, would Vortex hurt my knees?

3. I hear you have to go through metal detector, do you have to take your cell phone, wallet out of your pocket?

Should be pretty quiet actually since its early in the season. Sundays are typically the quieter days.

 

Vortex shouldn't bang your knees up. But your head/ears, that's another story. Metal detectors...empty the pockets including cell phone, wallet... Sometimes I actually have to remove my belt depending on security. Believe it or not even my pack of gum tripped one of their wands, requiring me to take that out as well.

I've never had a problem with my knees, I usually leave some leeway to bend a little, but it's your head that's another story lol, (be prepared for head banging)

Yes, they'll ask you to take out your phones, keys, wallet etc that might set off the metal detector but they'll give you a bin to place it in.

Anyway, I know this is only one coaster but the fact that its there and almost ready to open along with the other good things going on here, makes me really happy and hopefully means more great things are to come for this park.

Yeah, Wolf definitely was a lot worse. Vortex definitely is painful, but luckily it's super short.
