Carowinds Discussion Thread

P. 418: Camp Snoopy expansion announced including new family coaster

Recommended Posts

I don't think they are not as smart of some of you are making out. We may know what is going on but we don't KNOW what it all entails. They want us talking and that, we are doing. Just like we knew it was a coaster last year but didn't KNOW what it entailed...

At first I thought that was a ridiculous idea since they'd need to change the layout, would get no ROI, would spend a ton of money on it and it wouldn't be anywhere near guest areas but then I realized that a water brake was sort of like another trim brake so the Carowinds maintenance team would probably love the idea. Anything that results in more trims for Intimidator seems like a good thing as far as they're concerned.

I laughed at this way harder than I should have

I'm pretty sure every investment since 2013 has been somewhat-revealed early by Carowinds through leaked plans or clueless naming on the park's website photos.

Fury was kept secret just as bad as Banshee and GateKeeper.

It's also almost a tradition of their web team screwing up and leaking everything ahead of time so let's hope that happens soon.

Yup... already starting it. Carowinds GM Mike Fehnel has been trying to throw everyone off of it not being a water park addition and then they go ahead and name that photo on their website "Carowinds-Waterpark-Teaser-Rotator.jpg". Not to mention trademarking the name 'Carolina Harbor' well in advance giving away the new name of Boomerang Bay. I expect more to be accidentally revealed before the announcement in 30 days.

Maybe calling it carowinds water park teaser was to throw us off

^ This is coming from the same folks who named the 2013 and 2014 teasers something along the lines of "Carowinds-Windseeker-Teaser-Rotator.jpg" and "Carowinds-DinosaursAlive-Teaser-Rotator.jpg" so I doubt it. I could see something else smaller happening in the County Fair area, but the attention will be in the water park next season which is fine as it definitely needs renovated.

I got to ride Fury on Monday for the first time and OMFG I was blown away!! I was expecting just a bigger Intimidator but man was I wrong! My first ride was in the front seat and that first drop lasts forever! And then the rest of the ride is flawless! Fantastic pacing, good positive G's, best airtime on a B&M by far, and an absolutely fantastic layout! I've been obsessed with El Toro since it opened but I think Fury topped Toro for me. I've ridden most of the coasters up and down the east coast from Florida to Massachusetts as well as Cedar Point's collection and it's definitely my new favorite ride! I'm glad B&M can still build such powerful rides. I thought their golden days were over along with many of you. lol

Also a quick shout out to Fast Lane! I got to ride Fury 9 times in one day a long with the rest of the coasters and most of the slides in the waterpark.

Wow... I never thought I would hear this from someone who really "gets" El Toro like myself. I even have El Toro above I-305, Maverick, etc.

It seems Fury 325 is legit, and perhaps B&M really is getting their swagger back.

Oh they absolutely are. Fury beats all those rides in my opinion.

I rode Fury 23 times over the weekend and I couldn't agree with you more Ryan. Fury rides like a Intamin but with the perfection and comfort of an B&M. I've never been able to begin to come up with a top steel list until riding my 500th steel coaster. so my list will contain one ride Fury 325!

Ps shame you missed Thunder Road by one day Ryan and its a damn shame it has closed!

It really is that good

yes

Truly, it is!

But hey, I'm sure you've ridden both NTaG, and IRat, LiftThrill, and I'm similarly jealous of that! Some day, you'll get to do Fury, and I'll get those RMC gems under my belt!

Fury is absolutely one of the best coasters I've ever ridden, and of the new for 2015 rides I've ridden (Wicked Cyclone, Fury and Impulse) it's easily the best... it's not even close.

Wow! Wicked Cyclone looks AMAZING, so that's high praise indeed! I believe it though... Fury was at first ride for me - and I'm no spring chicken when it comes to coasters!

made another trip to Carowinds yesterday, got to the park a little late around 6, but was still able to ride everything. Lines were almost non existent at Nighthawk, it was a walk every time we went to ride it. I was surprised i was able to fit. So now i can ride everything there.

I thought it was rough, but nothing too bad. I didn't feel secure, the restraints felt very loose, i was too scared to put my hands out lol.

Still blown away by Intimidator, it felt like it was running strong, the ride ops were really doing a good job of pushing the trains out. They'd say "you've got 15 seconds to put your stuff in the bin and get to your seat" i thought it was pretty funny.

Fury was of course awesome as usual, i rode in the back row, middle and then my last ride of the night i was able to get FRONT ROW! I think front row is the absolute best, then the back row.

Overall a good short day, planning to go back again before Scarowinds.

Wow! That's pretty surprising! It was easily the longest line in the park the day I went earlier this year! I don't think I would mind it as much if I got to walk on when riding!

Has anyone been on Leviathan this season? I ask because I wonder if the ride has developed a slight rattle over the past 3.5 seasons?

People (including myself) have noticed a very slight rattle on Fury 325 compared to earlier this spring and summer. In no way, shape, or form would I call it rough (or even close), but it definitely is something that wasn't there earlier this season on the ride and is noticeable to enthusiasts. It's not just a bad wheel either as it's more than one train.

Anybody who is riding the ride for the first time wouldn't even realize it probably. The ride is still about as smooth as you can get...

Recently though, I'd have to say Millennium Force is smoother.

Yeah i was surprised too...they were running two trains, so i'm sure that helped. One train left the station with only 3 people on it...longest lines were for Fury and Intimidator, and they were only like 5-8 min waits.
