Carowinds Discussion Thread

P. 418: Camp Snoopy expansion announced including new family coaster

Recommended Posts

Its not for a dive coaster. It will shock me if it isn't for Carowinds.

Anyway, I was thinking about the trademarked name "Fury 325". I am now 90% certain this is for the Carowinds giga based on one simple question; Who else would be building a 325+ foot coaster next year? It has to be in the US and has to be a Cedar Fair park. No other Cedar Fair parks are building a giga. This pretty much confirms the name or at least the height. What else would the 325 be for?

Drop tower?

325 foot tall windseeker?

etc?

Who would be building a 325 foot drop tower in the Cedar Fair chain? Knotts and Cedar Point are likely getting Wonder Mountain style rides, KD and KI already have Drop Towers. Canadas Wonderland has a decent sized one as well. Who else is there that doesn't own a drop tower?

And I'm pretty sure Cedar Fair is done with the Windseekers after all of the problems.

I forgot Michigan's Adventure existed.

Hey guys, I read the August 5th Financial Realease for Cedar Fair. It said "One of the things I am personally most excited about when it comes to our future is the organic growth opportunities that exist at our core properties. Most notably in the near term is the re-launch of our Carowinds regional brand in 2015, which will be anchored by a new record-breaking attraction". What could this record be? Height, Inversions, Speed? Let the speculation CONTINUE!!

Those curved pieces.. Could they be for a curved brake run a la Mantis without the banking. But the blueprints don't look like a curved brake run - the last curve pre-brake has a rather small straight section before it. Could this be the pre-lift turn? But Gatekeeper uses normal spine for that IIRC... Hmm...

What if they will have drive tires in that turn? They would have to use the vertical ones (like intamin or their dive machines) rather than the the pairs they use now which "squeeze" the train.

These:

I'm starting to think these teal track portions are going to go to Efteling instead of Carowinds... I *believe* I read the Dive Machine out there is going to have a dark-ride portion. And it's a small Dive Machine, so the track does match.

As for Carowinds, it seems like green track portions has been spotted.

You mean the plain teal, right? Not the Dark teal with the yellow-green spine?

That track is for an inverted or flying coaster, as seen in the curvature of the rail ties. Also, the plain solid teal track is the inverted or flying coaster track, and then there is another teal track, non-inverted track, but has a small narrow strip of neon green on the bottom. Well, here's what I make of it. Looks like a cool logo. However this looks exactly like what we saw happening with Kings Island and the Bat. They leaked the bat logo, but the ride was called Banshee. This could be the same thing. If thats the case, then we can count on the Fury 325 name. If it turns out that this is the name and logo, then I wonder how this will correspond with the rides color scheme.

KI made a hidden trick site with the Bat logo and a winged coaster (edited Gatekeeper pic.) But they used that logo. Would Carowinds make a logo just to not use it at all?

Keep in mind that in an interview, a park official talked about how they used the logo to go along with the bat transformation. And that transformation only happened because the fans did a bunch of talkin about how they should convert flight deck to the bat. So yes it got used, but it originally wasn't gonna be used.
