Since all of their restaurants are centered around Philadelphia this is pretty strange... it's great news though, their crab fries are amazing. Hopefully we'll see it at more and more Cedar Fair parks.

Yeah, this is great news! I've never heard of the restaurant until now so it's great to see something coming to the park that we can't easily get outside of the park. I hope Cedar Fair continues this trend with its other parks.

Great! I look forward to it. Of course I will have Carowinds updates this year throughout the season. With so much going on in the next few years there will be a lot to share.

But I thought.....oral was..... oh, never mind. Seems like a very interesting restaurant. I don't think I've ever had crab before. Also, I don't think there is a Seafood place in the park. Maybe the Outerhanks restaurant is one but I'm not sure.

Yes, it's Outer Hanks Fresh Seafood and Grill although one time I had the fish there it tasted like it was frozen. That was some years ago, though, and I don't know that they claimed it was fresh back then.

Chickie and Pete's is not a seafood restaurant and crab fries don't have crab in them. They have a blend of seasoning that you would put on crab (mainly Old Bay).

Doubt it. Cedar Fair wanted to invest in two growing markets (Toronto and Charlotte), so you can assume the plan is the same for both Canada's Wonderland and Carowinds. I think people are just in denial that the park would add another B&M speed coaster after Intimidator.

Very few people know at this point and they've done a good job keeping the real details quiet. The only thing we do know, is that if you trust the information Cedar Fair presented to Charlotte and Mecklenburg County, is that it will be a $30 mil coaster and will be at least 70 feet taller than Intimidator (232'). That would be one heck of a dive coaster. So while it is possible, I find a dive coaster unlikely.

 

Based on the information that has come out, it seems undoubtedly it's going to be a giga coaster. We just don't know anything else. The good news is that I expect we'll start seeing construction begin on it in the next few months. Based on the construction, we're going to have a lot more to go on to speculate.

Glad to see Hurler getting some love, it needed it!

 

I don't know...it almost seems like putting lipstick on a pig to me - kind of like them trying to refurbish Gouderix. I think I am more excited about the refurbishment to Thunder Road as that one seemed to have a lot more potential in terms of overall layout and fun.

 

I suppose it could be a decent family coaster if it didn't beat the crap out of you. Here's to hoping that that won't happen after the refurbishment!

I don't think Hurler could ever be great no matter what is done to it. With that being said, I hope this repair work allows them to remove the trims and make this a good coaster again. It used to be good with some air time back in the Paramount days, albeit it quite rough.

Probably. I just don't think retracking one turn is going to change the fact that this ride isn't fun. I'll certainly report back if it's any good, just don't get your hopes up.

I find it interesting how everyone hates both the Hurler's but everyone loves Thunder Run at KK....

Thunder run was(at least when I was on it last) a smooth ride. The hurler coasters were both brutal last time I was on them.

Thunder Run was built by Dinn and both Hurlers were built by International Coasters. Does it means International Coasters is worse than Dinn?
