Scaparri
EDIT: Video now posted at the bottom of pg. 3! So yesterday, Myself, Tyler (CTU Agent), Robby (BamaRob21), and our friend Keelan all ventured over to Six Flags Over Georgia for opening day to get our SF season passes processed. It ended up being the greatest experience any of us have ever had at a Six Flags park! First off, the crowds were non-existent and the weather was awesome, which automatically made for a pretty awesome day. We immediately experienced the wrath of SF's new ridiculous locker policy. As we tried to open the day with the Georgia Cyclone, we were informed that we couldn't bring any loose articles on it as well as Goliath, Scorcher, and Superman. Ok, no biggie, but instead of offering lockers all day for one price, you had to pay for one locker that only lasted for 2 hours and expired once you open it. It's a little shady in my opinion, but we worked around it, and the employees were awesome!! Their service set the theme throughout the day. If we walked into a store, we were greeted with "Hey guys, how are you today?" If we walked by a game, we got the same. If our harness was getting checked on Acro, the same. It was unreal. Everywhere we went, the employees were so polite and helpful. They actually acted like they wanted to be there. They pretty much made every other park's staff I've ever been to look like a bunch of douche bags. We were blown away. As we mentioned the crowds blew us away too. Nobody was there! Our longest wait all day was four trains for Mindbender. The rides were all running fairly well too. For once, I walked off Cyclone without any pain! It was unreal. The whole day was just a blast, and I really hope that kind of service is what we can expect at the rest of the SF parks from now on. It was really unprecedented. I've never experienced anything like it. Enjoy the TR! Just a little background for a particular picture: Throughout the day, I saw this guy that I saw during my first visit to the park back in '03. He's tall, skinny, and very mentally challenged. He seems to be in love with the park though. During my first visit, I rode GASM with him in front of me, and throughout the ride, he screamed "Dip, baby, dip!" I'm not making fun of the guy. I've never really forgotten him. He's one of those people that really makes me feel lucky to have what I do, but it's awesome to see him havin' a good time at the park. Anyway, I was really stunned and excited to see this guy again at the park yesterday. So yeah, you'll know what picture I'm talking about when you come across it. Again, Enjoy! Video will be up later tonight! Majority of the picture credits go to Robby and Tyler. Sadly, that closes this TR. Thankfully we found our car among the sea of vehicles! Robby, Tyler, how steep did you guys say that turn is again? This was simply stunning. All the supervisors and head honchos of the park came out and were telling everybody bye and thanks. We were all pretty blown away. The service we experienced throughout the day was unprecedented. I'm straight out of ATL, bitch! At this point in the ride, your seat is fairly pointless. That's what I'm talkin' about. Grab your Kleenex boxes, fellow coaster nerds. We see you over there Goliath... you need some more photos up in hurrr. You've been deprived during this TR. Dip, baby, dip! This might be the best kiddie coaster in the country. Seriously, it's better than a third of the coasters in the park! We took a break from all that hot, steamy coaster action for a ride on the Wheelie. Keelan, what is your opinion of GASM and Superman? Yeah, me too. In case you guys have ever wanted to know the definition of "meh." Thank God we got those gold flash passes today! On a seperate note, this picture does no justice to the new SF uniforms. Those polos are neon bright. A blind person could find an SF employee in one of those. Six Flags is very family friendly... Keelan sports what is quite possibly the most awesomely bad merch idea to come from the brains at SF. Seriously though... the most underrated coaster in the park. "What's up NOW?"- Scorcher Goliath embarrasses it. Poor Scorcher looks so sad and pathetic. Look at it! What a total MILF. Monster I'd like to... Robby grabs the reverse Monster Plantation POV. Sweet... Keelan, Myself, and Tyler "in line" for Monster Plantation. So messed up, but so awesome. The scariest freakin' ride on the planet. Whatever phobia is the fear of crapping youself is the phobia this ride should have been named after. No caption needed Lunch time! Let's go to the place that's also right down the street! I don't care, this picture never gets old. Keelan dry heaves into Batman's special barf bin, the "Toxic Accumulator." The gang minus Robby "in line" for Batman. Tunnel vision. Test seat stapling POV! "I had TWO orgasms on that ride!" Hey Jow. Thanks for the beer last weekend. Down zee drop... Mindbender is lookin' good with it's new coat of paint. Ahh yes... the sign of excellence. Jeez the crowds sucked today... Hmm... spring? Are you sure? Ninja upskirt for all you freaks... Seriously, it's not THAT bad. Here's the only good part of this ride. Flying Dutchmen > B&M Flyers Look at the awesomeness. America, $% yeah!!! After our puzzling ride on Cyclone to open the day, we headed to the main event. We walked off so confused. Our back car ride was actually really good and "smooth" for the Cyclone. "I want to eat your babies!" It's amazing how a coaster that isn't even THAT big makes every other ride in the park look so small. Son of a b... we better get gold q-bots today. Hooray! Off-season finally ends. ernierocker
Nice TR. Is this the usual crowds for an opening day? I might have to keep that in my mind for my next SFOG visit. I agree that Ninja isn't that bad of a ride.
CoasterGuy06
I agree, Georgia Scorcher is WAY underrated.
willski
Nice TR. Is this the usual crowds for an opening day? I might have to keep that in my mind for my next SFOG visit. I agree that Ninja isn't that bad of a ride. Every weekend in March, except for the one just prior to Spring Break. That's usually when they host some sort of cheerleading competition, so I'd avoid it on those days unless your thing is tons of 12 year old girls. I wish I could've gone, but no car=no SFoG. Going both days next weekend though. And as for the friendly staff, that is only there for the first month or so. After employees start working double shifts and overtime over Spring Break (in addition to the weather going from 60s to the 90s), the quality of service drops completely off. It's nice at the beginning of the year though...

I was thinking of giving myself a flight down to SFOG for a birthday present when I'm in college or later. I always wanted to go to a park on my birthday, but the snow drifts reach half way up Predator's lift. (March 23 - this year it's on easter, but I'm Jewish, so it doesn't matter. ) -Tanks "Joey's not the only jew on here" 4me05.

SFOGdude25
Nice pics man! I have to comment on the fact that I'm SO glad that GA Cyclone got retracked over the off-season. I have liked that coaster a LOT even though it was rough. Through all that roughness was a fun coaster (you just have to sit in the right place for that good ride). Now its smooth!? That will make for one good woodie. I can't wait to come back! See you in May, SFOG!!!
TexTitan01
Wait...I thought you were in college @ Indiana? Either way, sweet TR, SFoG is one of those Six Flags parks I've always wanted to go to, it looks like its one of the better parks in the chain. Georgia Scorcher looks like it'd be one hell of a ride, too bed i dont hear much about it. And I really hope you didnt buy that hoodie, Nice TR! dpxtreme
I definately agree about Flying Dutchmen > B&M Flyers. I've been on both and the Vekoma version is MUCH better IMO. I also think the Vekoma versions are way more comfortable. I've still never been on a B&M Hyper yet, I got to get to one soon. I've been on Goliath at SFMM, but it's a Giovanola. haiderodes
I'm so excited for next weekend...im flying to Atlanta to visit my sister and put some mileage on my Six Flags pass! Even better if the crowds stay low like it was in the photos above!
ebl
I've never ridden a Vekoma Flying Dutchman (never did ride Stealth at PGA when it was here), so I can't say anything about the comfort of them. But I've heard little good about those rides, too. Regarding the B&M flyers, the only one I've ridden is Tatsu, and I find it to be quite comfortable. And I've also heard that the other flyers pale in comparison to it. Eric
dpxtreme
I've only been on Stealth when it was at CGA and Tatsu at SFMM. I've been stuck on the brake run on both of them for quit a while before because of a down-time, and I find laying down on the Vekoma is more comfortable than being in the flying position for quit a while. I just personally liked Stealth better than Tatsu overall.
Broadwayboy2007
It really was such a great day. I got to ride a bunch of rides that I had never gotten to ride before (Superman and Batman) because of the surprising lack of people. I also noticed how amazing the employees were (a real rarety for that park). It was such a great day, and I had fun riding the Canyon Blaster with you guys lol. VegasCoaster
How intense is the locker policy? Can you ride with stuff in your pockets or something attached to your belt or is it absolutely no loose articles? I know for the rides on the Stratosphere in Vegas you can't ride with anything, but then again that makes sense.
Broadwayboy2007
^ They never stopped people with caps and other headgear, and I saw signs saying if the loose article cannot fit in your pocket it must be put in a locker.
Hilltopper39
Nice pics scott, I love six flags Georgia and Goliath is pretty much awesome. I think I'm gonna be there in a few weeks so hopefully the crowds are as thin as the were for your trip. And your right Ninja isn't that bad, and Acrophobia is freakin crazy! most insane ride I've been on for sure
coreyml
cyclone got retracked in some places but not as much as it was retracked last year. this ride ALWAYS runs best on opening day and 2 years ago, they didnt have the trims working . GASM was retracked a lot. Normally it hurts my friends' boobs but i couldnt guage the smoothness due to that b/c they werent there and i was there with my sister... I thought it was much smoother. all those hills need to be steeper - just rebuild the tops of the hills achro = scariest drop tower anywhere. Especially when you have the people yelling at you thru the speakers at the top of the ride. I think it should be silent while up there and nobody in the park should have a mic. Philrad71
Nice report! It just seems nice to see some of the parks North of Florida starting to open now...especially when I look out my window and see three feet of snow on the ground! Amazing that SF would have had the upper brass come out to shake hands, wave, and say good-bye to the customers at the end of the day. I have never seen that at a theme park before, but I am very impressed to see such a classy gesture was made by what we all consider to be one of the "Corporate Giants" of amusement parks. I had some job training a month ago from a guy that worked for Disney called, "Through the lens of the customer." Very interesting, fun training, in which this fellow made several key points on how doing the little things like saying good-bye, being polite, friendly, and clean will create a big impact on deciding a customers return. I see that in a lot of posts here when reading about someone's crappy service, employee's bad attitudes and cleanliness while visiting a park. Customer service really is a huge part of our experience and not just the thrill rides and coasters. It is cool when I see the younger coaster fans on this sight note and point this out in their reports! Hopefully, other SF parks will model themselves after this service in the future! I have never visited this park, but may reconsider now if I am ever down Atlanta way.

carolinacaniac
This TR is making me even more anxious for Saturday! So I see that a q-bot would be pointless if crowds stay like it was for you guys. Were there any rides not running other than the water rides? Definatly looks like it will be a good visit on Saturday!
mikeymike325
I knew I should of went this weekend. But hopefully, if my training at the park is short, I can get some credits in.
