Big Mike
Hello Fantastic Friends!!!!! I take great honor in presenting to you this next trip report!!! I want to say in advance, this was one of my favorite park visits all year long so far This report was fast tracked by Big Mike World Headquarters because this place is that darn good! I have a GREAT friend named Shane, and I am sure that most of you also know him! Shane is a fellow Theme Park Review member and has the wonderful thread "Shane's Amusement Attic", which I have spent months upon months trying to overtake in the Theme Park Review Standings! I admit that Shanes thread is probably 100 times better and more enjoyable to read than mine, but I was lucky enough to have Shane put his time and interest elsewhere lately, letting The Big Mike Road Show finally overtake him The great part about this story is the reason he was pre-occupied: COWABUNGA BAY WATER PARK!!!!!!!!!!!! Ever since I heard about this project and the opening of this wonderful water park, I have counted the days to go visit my friend and his new venture, and last week my dreams came true as I got to spend the afternoon at Cowabunga Bay with my great friend Shawn (packfanlv) and his cool son Shawn Reese! Seeing Shane's dream come true and being there to enjoy it myself was extremely gratifying! I was sooooo happy for him and that his hard work and awesome vision had become a reality! Everyone dreams of owning thier own park, and my good buddy and TPR's own Shane Huish fulfilled his dream!!! The Big Mike Road Show 2009 is EXTREMELY PROUD to present to The Valuable Big Mike Readers and everyone on Theme Park Review.... SHANE'S COWABUNGA BAY WATER PARK!!! Thanks Shane, you are one top notch guy and a very near and dear friend! I wish you unlimited success good buddy! I hope everyone enjoyed and can find the time to stop in and say hello to Shane at this wonderful water park! Peace, Big Mike Big Mike would like to thank everyone involved with making this stop on The Road Show one of the best ever! After being treated so well by Shane, it is with great honor that Big Mike lets Shane check off Utah on The Official Big Mike Road Show 2009 T-Shirt! OMG! It is DELICIOUS!!!!!! A Sunburn is ice cream with raspberry gelatin mixed in! Just when it looked like our day was done, Shane comes over and offers us his specialty item at the snack bar, A SUN BURN!!! "The Big Man in the Big Splash" You didn't think that Big Mike would leave without sitting under the World record bucket splash, did you? (Whoop Whoop Big Mike, your butt is looking mighty fine too!) ..... When kids have smiles as huge as Shawn Reeses and adults have them too! (Whoop Whoop Big Mike, nice flat stomach!) Cowabunga is AWESOME! How can you tell??? I will show you.... As you can see, the lazy river is huge! The lazy river is enjoyable with or without a raft. When you get tired of using all the buckets, riding the slides, and playing in the huge water area, the other side of the park has a great lazy river ride! The final result is a faceful of water and endless enjoyment Key #3 - Use your sports and athletics expertise to time the perfect drop! Key #2 - Wait for a prime unsuspecting sucker! Key #1 - Fill the bucket as full as possible for maximum damage! Always a Big Mike favorite thing to do, waiting to dump water on unsuspecting park visitors! EXCLUSIVE behind the scenes water bucket tipping shot!!! Big Mike will always go the extra mile to get the super exclusive shots for his Valuable Readers! I know a lot of female, and maybe even some male Valuable Big Mike Readers probably just got turned on, but you didn't think Big Mike was just going to take pictures and not enjoy the place, did ya? A masterful touch to the park is this brightly colored bug, which shoots water out its trunk! The lagoonisfun.com website gang also LOVES Cowabunga! Since the park is run so professionally, it brings out fellow TPR readers like Sid (linearinduction)! Shane knows from his park visits that he hates messy parks, and Cowabunga Bay is SPOTLESS!! So spotless that when Big Mike filled out his Golden Ticket Awards ballot this year (Big Mike must be somebody to be included lol), Big Mike "wrote in" Cowabunga Bay in the cleanest park catagory! Shane's menu and food has been getting rave reviews! The Cowabunga Grill! There is also a Cowabunga store. Cabana rentals are available at Cowabunga. Shane shows us some footers for next years toilet bowl style water ride, which may have a hidden Big Mike name in the new theming! Here is what the World record bucket dump looks like including the Blast Pumps that Big Mike turned on! Just like amusement parks have World record coasters, Shane has the World record here at his own park as you can see he DESTROYS China and Hershey Park! Every park has its marque attraction, and Shane has the Cowabunga Splash! Everyone can now enjoy the Blast Pumps, thanks to Big Mike! Big Mike was overjoyed to help out! The Splash Pad Dynomite Blast Pumps are off outside and Shane wants Big Mike to turn them on for all his park attendees!! I thank Shane for the spectacular tour and he says wait a minute Big Mike, I have something special for you This is the MAIN piece of machinery in the park!!! The UV Zapper!!! All water passes through this and is instantly zapped to kill anything and everything possible! It costs a bundle!!! I ask how he knows which is which? Shane labeled them all! Every element out in the park has its own section downstairs! You may think this picture was taken by mistake, but actually I think I may have found Shane's Amusement Attic over there!!! Amazing, amazing thread! Shawn and Shawn Reese are amazed at everything. All these controls run automatically to make sure everything is fine and dandy outside! This is the nuts and bolts of the operation running underneath where everyone else is having fun! Shane takes us to the underground part of the tour! ... as is his son West! Shane's son Fisher is also present... Like a hidden Mickey, Shane has his name hiding on the plate of this car! Shane gives us a VIP backstage tour of the whole park, telling us various interesting details! The first thing you see when you enter the park is this fantastic car, which happens to be Shane's Dads old car! The park is full of fantastic theming like this. Big Mike is beaming with joy at seeing how totally awesome Shane is looking and offers Shane a super cool Valuable Big Mike Reader Pin, which Shane wears all day long I also notice this cool picture in the office, notice Shane on the far right! While Shawn and Shawn Reese were getting their wristbands, Big Mike notices the UPS sticker that he is in charge of at UPS and explains to the guys all the info on the sticker! Shane brought us through the VIP enterance and gave us the ultimate wrist band... the white unlimited!!! FOR FREE TOO!!!!! Big Mike was really appreciative of the signs which are now hanging in Big Mike World Headquarters, but this picture is to show you the wonderful view from Cowabunga Bay! Just in case people missed the first big sign outside, there was also a smaller one by the enterance gate Look who is sneaking up behind The Big Man, it's my buddy Shane!!! Big Mike got a little overwhelmed but really appreciated the extra attention all the park folks gave him for being the special guest today! Big Mike is welcomed by this tremendously awesome sign upon arriving! Everyone wanted to know how the wristbands worked, here is the detailed info for that! The hours! The prices! Here is the address for your GPS systems so you can go visit too! The coolest thing EVER to happen to Draper Utah! The park is located right off the highway in some prime property! A picture for the TPR Park Index, because Shane's water park deserves a spot in it! Cowabunga Bay Water Park!
atem122
That was one of the coolest trip reports ever, I hadnt quite seen all the fine details put into CB (that's right it's worthy of an acronym) until this report. The place looks utterly fantastic and is definitely a must go for me whenever I make it back to Utah (sadly that may be a while)
STR8FXXXINEDGE
What a GREAT update! Thanks for showing us all of that, Big Mike. Shane seems like a very nice guy, and that was super awesome what he did for you. Glad to see everything is working out in this tough economy. I'm not a huge water park person, but when I finally make it back that way, I will definitely have to pay Shane and the Cowabunga Bay Water Park a visit. I LOVE the old car that used to be his Dad's!
