Two new Gravity Group coaster models released

Recommended Posts

I love how Fireball is basically a shortened, mirrored version of Timbers without the helix.

No hard feelings. Timbers is fantastic.

Hornet looks amazing, though. I want Hornet in my back yard, or at least within walking distance.

Ooooooooooooooooooh!!! Send both of them to TX plz! I like Fireball, the double down and the double up look awesome! Looks like a good coaster for small parks.

Haha, that would be nice. Somehow I don't think Kemah can fit in the out and back version though...

Galveston Bay is only 8ft deep for nearly a half mile from shore... then it's only around 10ft deep except for the ship channel. How awesome would it be to have the station and the final turnaround on land, then send the rest of the out-back onto a pier sticking out in the water?

Besides.... does it HAVE to be in Kemah? They got room for BOTH of these out at Katy Mills.

Hermann Park could put the out/backer next to the lake with the miniature railroad outside the zoo.

OH, and there's this vacant patch of grass right there where Astroworld used to be......

^They don't own that land. Plus, can you say hurricanes?

They would have to sink the pylons so deep for the coaster so it wouldn't shift with the sea floor during wave motion (especially storm surge), it would just be unfeasible. A steel coaster would be a stretch, but a wooden coaster is impossible.

Too expensive.

^What if you build it like a pier?

Both look awesome I want one of these models soooo bad!

Does anybody have pictures of the train that'll be running on this?

It'd be nice if we'd be able to just buy those without the coaster like the inverted and floorless models.

Galveston used to have a wood coaster sticking out offshore, and this was many decades ago before current technology. At least a coaster in the bay would only have to deal with the wave action during storms... Galveston's had to deal with it 24/7. There are a number of businesses and buildings built into the water in Galveston, including a bigass hotel. All of these have to contend with 24/7 wave action. All have survived numerous hurricanes.

Half of the boardwalk is ALREADY over the water, so I don't think that it would be a stretch to build more.

I agree Kemah could build a pier if they wanted to. Galveston Bay is pretty protected from the open Gulf. Storm Surge would be a more serious concern. (and Kemah is very familiar with Storm Surge!)

At any rate it does California stop building because of Earthquakes?

But back to the point. I think Kemah has area to expand if they want to even without a pier.

Isn't Worlds of Fun going to get a woodie next year? The Twister would fit great in the old Orient Express wooded lot! Or it could go back where the Zambezi Zinger once was.

That's the rumor, but Cedar Fair will more than likely turn to GCI. They spoke of continuing that trend at Mania now that Renegade has proven so successful. Plus, KGA is getting that GCI, so I would not be surprised at all.

But, you're right. Either of these would fit.
