spangle
Hey guys We are starting to plan our holiday in florida for 2009 and i guess the best place to ask people for their tips and opinions is here! Obviously we would like to be near Disney, last time we came to florida it was 1996 and we stayed in the All star resort in disney, it was excllent! This time we are looking at renting an appartment? There will be 6-8 in one appartment and 4 in the other. (two families in each) Any one know of a good centeral place to stay. Is november a good time to come? We dont do hot so summer would be out! Also is there any quieter times for the theme parks, are the schools on holiday in November? We are going to go to Busch gardens but where else is there to go? Can we get discounted tickets nearer the time? Where is the swimming with dolphins experience? Thanks so much for your time Symone x
Adrenaline_Rush
Id suggest a condo near Disney, and reserve them now! Trust me it will be worth it if you reserve it now, or else you'll probably be dead out of luck. http://www.villadirect.com/glossary/disney_condos.html?gclid=CM665eeQ4pACFQUolgodtSOeXg I think November is a good time to come, though do not go on Thanksgiving week, schools are off for us. Go on like Mondays thru Wednsdays there the quietest days of the week, Thursday and Friday are still a little quiet but not as quiet as the earlier days, Saturday isnt a good idea, though Sunday is an okay time to go, and go 2 weeks before Thanksgiving to save you from travel delay and the mad rush at the airport. Besides Busch Gardens there is Universal, Sea World, and all of Disney. I believe Universal, Busch Gardens, and Sea World let you buy tickets to each of the parks in a park plus deal and you can get a small discount on tickets. The swimming with dolphins is in Discovery Cove, its a place across the street from Sea World, and it is VERY expensive. Also attendance is limited to 1000 guests a day so reserve now if you want to go! http://www.discoverycove.com/default2.aspx If you book early tickets you can save money from what I hear. P.S. it will still be a little hot, on the verge of a nice cool day and hot, around 80 degrees, if it goes the same as this year then it will be like 90 degrees! spangle
Thanks for your reply, i will have a look at the web sites, i did check out the swimming with dolphins and couldnt believe the price but i guess entrance to busch gardens and the other place (cant remember the name of it) isnt too bad, it is something i dont think we would ever forget. Thanks again
TheRapidsNerd
^^ The man above me has the right idea. Also, you might check out Cypress Gardens or Wet 'n' Wild depending on time and money options. Wet 'n' Wild is just down the street from IOA. Several folks in various Disney trip reports (which would be good to look at if you haven't yet) have said that Animal Kingdom goes pretty quick and may or may not be a pass. Over in the Professional/Amature video section, there are vids of Disney/IOA parks and rides that are worth watching. They'll give you a decent idea of what might be worth doing. Could save you some time touring. Same with BGA. Hope this helps and have a good trip.
spangle
Cool, good idea about looking at the trip reports. Cypress gardens was the place i was trying to think of, it has a butterfly house in it (or did have!) The last time we were at Disney Animal kingdom was just being built! Adrenaline_Rush
I think they got rid of the butterfly house Im not sure but I remember going when I was like 6 in a Kindygarden field trip, it was so fun with its classic look, it had an ice show, Island in the Sky, the Ski Show, and all the other classics + an amazing ice cream shop! Now I dont like what it is, I hear its not really worth going unless your more of a kiddie ride person... to see all the classics to it are gone. On a side note here are the Definate parks I recommend you see... Big Thrills// Islands Of Adventure Busch Gardens Africa Universal Studios MGM (Walt Disney Studios) EPCOT Family Thrills// Busch Gardens Africa Magic Kingdom EPCOT Universal Studios Kiddie Thrills// Sea World Cypress Gardens Water Parks// Wet N Wild Blizzard Beach Typhoon Lagoon The definate must go to out of each category is... Big Thrills// Busch Gardens Africa (spectacular, great shows too) Family Thrills// Universal Studios (just amazing) Kiddie Thrills// Sea World (it also has Kraken!) Water Park// Wet N Wild (it has the most variety of rides and most quantity) As you may note some are on multiple lists. If you are just going for big thrills though I suggest. Busch Gardens Islands Of Adventure MGM Wet N Wild
