RIP Psyclone
story.malaysiasun.com/index.php/ct/9/cid/f825b92e19df636a/id/310158/cs/1/ Cage begs Disney for 'National Treasure' theme park ride Malaysia Sun Tuesday 18th December, 2007 (ANI) Washington, Dec 18 : 'City Of Angels' star Nicolas Cage wants Disneyland to build a new ride based on the actor's movie franchise National Treasure. The 43-year-old star is a huge fan of theme parks and has a desire for his own rollercoaster. Disney produced 'National Treasure' and new sequel 'Book of Secrets' and Cage is hopeful that they will grant him his wish. "My biggest thrill would be if Disney was so happy with the movie that they gave it a ride," Contactmusic quoted Cage, as saying. "Because I love amusement parks and I love Disneyland and I would love to see a National Treasure ride. That would be a dream come true for me." Disney movie Pirates of the Caribbean was based on a ride at the Disney World resort. (Points off for claiming the POTC film trilogy was based on WDW's inferior version.) Guest
Hey if it works and the company thinks it's going to be popular, then why not?
Sticky Nicky
It could work, but I think that National Treasure is a little similar to Indiana Jones with the treasure part.
Chris Benvenuto
National Treasure IS Indiana Jones, just themed around the so called secret history of our country's founding and it's founders. Honestly, I can't stand the first movie either I saw it twice and didn't like it at all. So the Ride is a no-go in my book, IMO.

I really enjoyed the first movie, and look forward to the 'Book of Secrets' coming out this week.
terrancew_hod
Mr. Cage, You don't have to beg Disney for your own coaster (Especially days before the release and no one has reviewed it yet): Here you go. See? Everyone's happy! He has his coaster and Disney didn't waste any more money on that franchise that didn't deserve a sequel.
sam06pr
I actually think it will be a good idea. except that it seem similar to Indiana Jones. But nonetheless I think it can work out pretty good
coasterdude5
I think they could fit one into a little section of Epcot...
Carnage
I doubt Disney is going to theme a ride after such a minor movie franchise. Disney has A-list products to choose from. Why would they make a ride based off of their many Disney branded movies that they had little to do with? And a B-list and falling celebrity isn't going to convince them. Disney Dood
Maybe if they make two more sequels, then waited five years, it's sure going to work. I think it would be a fun ride too, but I'd rather go with Indiana Jones. He's more of a badass anyway.

The first one made close to $200 million domestic, this isn't a minor franchise assuming the second one does close to that level. Honestly, beyond Pixar and Pirates, this is their biggest franchise at this point.
downunder
Just tell him Ghostrider at Knott's is themed after one of his movies.

ebl
How much money would Mr. Cage put up if he wants this ride so badly? Eric
downunder
I haven't even seen either National Treasure films and I don't have it on my to do list either. Kind of meh really. He's welcome to finance having a National Treasure Ride put up at Warner Bros Movie World downunder.
Jew
I'd love to see a ride based on the new movie. Seriously. How awesome would a ride based on kidnapping the president to find a book of secrets be?
larrygator
This may be the most useless thread on TPR, and that is saying something. Who doesn't want a ride themed around something they do or something they are familiar with. I'd love to see a ride themed around Robb trying to get money out of Jewy. How about a ride themed to Joe cooking a meal or backing out of a TPR trip.

alpengeist04
^ ^You beat me to it. I really don't see any begging here, just a theme park fan hoping for a ride themed to something they're involved in. Who wouldn't? ...and I wouldn't call Mr. Cage a B-list actor, maybe A-, but definitely not B.
Wes
This is just bad journalism, honestly. Nowhere is he begging, read the actual quote that's attributed to him. "My biggest thrill would be if Disney was so happy with the movie that they gave it a ride," Contactmusic quoted Cage, as saying. "Because I love amusement parks and I love Disneyland and I would love to see a National Treasure ride. That would be a dream come true for me." Sounds like someone asked him a mundane question like "What would make you happiest for this movie to achieve" or something. It should also be pointed out that Cage is a huge geek, probably very similar to many people on the board here, except he gets to star in big budget movies. He used to have a gigantic comic collection. Cage isn't even his real last name, he changed it because his favorite comic book character Luke Cage. He named his son Kal-El, after fucking Superman! He's just a big ass geek.
browntggrr
What did they expect him to say, "Yes I love amusement parks, but I don't see a reason to build a ride from my movies?" Yeah, that would be a great indicator of how he feels about his movies. I really enjoyed the first NT, I hope the second is just as good.
larrygator
Although a Raising Arizona would rock also.
downunder
How about Leaving Las Vegas the ride, though I think many people have already been on that one - hookers, drinking yourself to death - c'mon Disney you need something for adults as well. gnewton34
I'd rather see a Goonies ride Even if it is Warner Bros. and has nothing to do with Disney.
