Worst Coaster Experience

Recommended Posts

For me, it was the Texas Giant.

I rode it 4 times one night, but the third time I rode it, I was in the front row, and about halfway through the ride I felt like my liver was about to explode. Then my chest started hurting, and it hurt for the rest of my trip.

The same thing happened on the Hurricane at The Pavilion... But I didn't expect anything less that what I got from that ride.

Worst time on a roller coaster... well... its hard to think of one but here are a few: (there are more but I can't think of them right now)

1. Revolution. Headache.

2. Psyclone. Concussion. (seriously)

Id don't understand the hatred for X. You had a bad ride on it but it is in my opinion probably the most worthy ride of the entire park. It offers an awesome ride most of the time and is really really fun. This is just my opinion but I still don't understand the hatred for it. I've never had a terrible ride on it like the rest of you have. I've been on it about 20 times and every single time its been really fun. A little jerky but nothing like the rest of you make it sound like.

I've never had a bad experience ON a coaster (aside from riding Deja Vu once hung over...ugh...), but waiting in line I have had a few.

The worst was a few months ago.... X was only running 1 train,so the line was slow to begin with. Some stupid cheerleader bimbo teenagers cut me in line to re-ride with their boyfriends. After about an hour and a half, we FINALLY got up to the station, and.... something broke or someone hurled, because I didn't see a train dispatch for a really long time... About 20 minutes later I saw a train go up, then really slow dispatches ensued. Finally we gave up and decided to just bail. This still annoys me when I think about it now.

either riding Corskcrew (AT) on the floor, the restriants under my chin (long story, simply put the restraints popped open 2 clicks at the top of the lift hill because I was pinned in and I slipped out from under the restraints) or having the hairs on the back of my neck ripped out on the lie-to-fly section of Air...

I'll have to put my vote in for Manhattan Express. When I rode it last year, it was fun at the beginning, but after the first drop, my neck kept banging into the evil OTSR's. I was in pain for an hour after that. That was the worst coaster experience for me. Still, if the coaster didn't have the OTSR's, it would be great! But of course, it's still a Togo death machine.

I'd have to say the Flying Coaster at Elitch Gardens. It is unique so I was looking forward to it, but after I was on it I knew why it is rare. Just bizarre - the trains, the lift, everything. Gave new meaning to the word rough. I followed this torture with a ride on the Boomerang and the SLC. By then my head was screaming in pain, but my friends talked me into Half Pipe. When I got off that, I lost my lunch. They say it was elevation sickness, but I think it was the triple whammy of the Flying Coaster, Boomerang and the SLC, with Half Pipe as the knock-out punch.

Japanese X at Fuji-Queue is by far the worse. After standing in line for almost three hours, I got the crap beaten out of me while riding.

X at SFMM is a close second. About half the waiting time and not nearly as brutal.

Jupiter at Kitjima(sp?) Japan and Mahattan Express at New York New York Casino in Las Vegas are tied for third.

Oh, how could I forget a ride on SOB. It was back in 2005 when they still had the loop and the Permier Lap Bars. My friend decided she wanted to ride in the back seat, so at the least I got us in the middle of the car, thinking it would be allright. WRONG! It had been cloudy all day and the minute we were strapped in, it started to POUR. They just cleared us and we rolled out of the station. Cramped legs, 10lb lap bar on my chest, and huge rain drops, and SOB = Hell. It was deffinately one of the worst experiances of my life at KI. I had to pull my shirt over my head so it didn't feel like getting hit with an airsoft gun. SOB went atleast 78mph, FYI.

Waiting for Superman at Six Flags New England for over an hour with my cousin. Not only was it extremely hot out, but they were only running one train. The best part was them announcing that it broke down when we had about 10 or 15 more minutes to wait. That was NOT fun.

Mantis

Yes! I rode it on the first day of an 8 day vacation. The old gonads hurt for the entire time.

Any coaster that you have to actually learn how to ride to protect your "valuables" sucks in my book. But this applies to ALL standups(Mantits was the first I experienced - and haven't been on one any better). They should put warnings for "men with ample scrotums" right there after "pregnant women" and "people with heart conditions" in the signage for all standups.

And I'm not kidding.

I remember back in my general-public-idiot days when I rode an SLC -- Thunderhawk, to be precise -- three times in a row. This was solely because the on-ride video for my seat wasn't showing up and I wanted to see it. At that point in time, I had no concept of "headbanging," and I thought that having a pounding headache for hours after going to the park was a normal experience. At least it was a walk-on so that I could get it over with relatively quickly.

Also, our good friend Mantis. Even the complete lack of padding on a certain Arrow looper was better than nearly becoming sterile.

The roughest woodie I've ever been on (the Coney Island Cyclone doesn't count because of the ultra-nice padding) is probably Villain, a CCI at Geauga Lake. I imagine that this coaster might have been a good ride when it opened, but Gerstlauer trains and what I assume was poor maintenance had created what seemed like inch-wide deviations in the trackwork and a resultingly rough, airtime-free ride. In fact, there was a gap of at least an inch coming out of the station. It wasn't a gap per se, but the track just suddenly lowered by about that much, quite a jolt, especially in the front. I'm not sure how much it deviated in other parts of the course, but I'm sure there were some unnecessary problems. At least Villain didn't have trick track at the bottom of the first drop (what an idiotic idea) in the last few years of its operation.

Getting stuck on Two Face: The Flip Side at SFA a couple of years ago I decided to ride TFTFS and I have ridden this tons of times in the past.

Well anyway the train went up and did everything normal then when it came back down through the station after the whole ride. The train kept going and then the brakes locked the train up into the loop. I was up in that stupid half loop for 45 minutes before they got us down! As many know that ride always gets stuck and I know first hand.

Also later in the day I got stuck on the jokers brakes for 20 minutes.

SFA is an awful park with awful employees, I've got stuck on so many rides there but that is the worst experience I've had.
