This is my first TPR TR, thanks for your patience.

Thanks to bad weather in NYC and DC, our Friday flight was cancelled and we didn't get to Arkansas until mid-Saturday. Not many direct flights from NYC to Little Rock.

We made a quick visit to the Arkansas State Fair in Little Rock (I left my camera in the car), but made some culinary discoveries, like the deep fried pickles, or the...

Sunday finds us at Magic Springs and Crystal Falls amusement park for October's Magic Screams

Ah, fountains! I go up to buy admission for Cheryl, myself, my friend Tammy and her two sons, and they say, "Maybe we can get you a group rate". I'm perplexed, but after a short wait for some supervisory approval, about $100 is knocked off the admission. Pretty amazing.

Ah, scary things!

More scary things.

Now this seems to be a really good idea. Too bad it only works for a small park on a slow day.

Fiendish ghoul, sizing up child.

The Crystal Falls part was closed...these were new slides for 2007.

Ah, the X Coaster! We'll get back to this.

It was a beautiful day, there were no crowds, and the park has these really pretty views of the Ouachita Mountains and forest.

Dang! Twist 'n' Shout wild mouse down! No credit. *sob*

Big Bad John, Arrow mine train ride with 3 lift hills!

Finally, X Coaster. We get right on to the first seat.

15.jpg.4dc52ee31bd2748636467748c61a2dac.jpg

This goes straight up, turns you upside down, then releases you into a roll and through station, then backwards through station, then forwards through station, lift chain locks again, lowers you slowly backwards into station.

Front row! Cool ride, especially at top with all of your weight on the massive lap bar, no OTSR!

Up. Interesting Maurer-Sohne ride. Not too many in the US, I think, right?

Lift hill...with Farenheit be like this?

Gauntlet, Vekoma. Only my second Vekoma outside of a Disney park because the boomerangs have always been down. Actually, my dream job would be working for Vekoma, as my major hobbies currently seem to be coasters and learning Dutch!

20.jpg.09fb1b49ae5cb75cce2fe6aadd04ac05.jpg

Another view. Actually, this was a great ride. I've had head choppers, this had my first foot chopper.

21.jpg.30d825c10ada991ca35580c55bb09e4e.jpg

Front row! No lines. Empty park.

Back to the station! This used to be at Boardwalk and Baseball. It's a very mellow family woodie.

Thanks for a really nice day!

You can see Magic Springs from the Observation Tower in Hot Springs National Park. Arkansas Twister is to the left, X Coaster in middle, Gauntlet to the right. Hope you enjoyed my report!

I enjoyed the TR. For some reason, all your pictures seem to be in reverse order.

I'm also assuming that the power didn't go out when riding X-Coaster. I rode G-Force at Drayton Manor (which is the same type of ride, though a different layout), but that ride was uncomfortable no matter how much power it had.

Nice TPR: the woodie looks nice, was it quite smooth..?

X-Coaster could be much longer, it seems such a waste of design and energy to fall back into the station so quickly. I rode G-Force in March, that is a quick ride as well and needs to be longer so everyone enjoys the elements better.

The new lapbars do not really work, as they get tigher the further you get round the circuit. Have normal straight "buzbars" with a seatbelt in the middle at the bottom to top.

The woodie is indeed smooth, and thus very very tame. I don't want to insult it, but there are almost no forces, in any direction. No up or down or sideways. I wonder if that was the same at its old location in Florida...

Agreed that X-Coaster is too short, but the hanging upside down against the lapbar and then the heartline diving roll are definitely unique experiences. G-Force seems super-long by comparison.

Thanks so much for the positive feedback!

Yeah, the Twister is a nice and somewhat smooth woodie...the first drop to the turn around is very fast.

I believe they build the X-Coaster like it is to have a boomerang type coaster in the park...which is kind of is like one.

I just saw their Season Pass prices for next year $79.99...shame...and they aren't getting a new coaster.

I rode it in both places. I know this will be hard to believe, but it runs MUCH better in the mountains than it did in Florida. On my first ride on it (as Florida Hurricane at B&B), we were going around the turnaround and the guy behind me asks out loud "should someone get out and push?"

It rolled around that turn at about the same speed that most coaster roll out of the station! The return trip was filled with the whole trainload of riders chanting "I think I can, I think I can" as we crested each of the hills.
