The Disneyland Resort has shared a ton of news regarding the resort hotels and Downtown Disney including a reimagined Disney's Paradise Pier Hotel, new resort benefits and new venues coming to Downtown Disney!

https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/04/news-from-the-disneyland-resort-upcoming-pixar-plans-big-foodie-news-and-more/

Yesterday, Disneyland Resort President Ken Potrock met with community leaders about upcoming plans for magical new experiences coming to the Disneyland Resort, and we wanted to bring you in on the fun!

Here’s a peek behind the curtain of what’s on the horizon for our guests, starting with some news from the Hotels of the Disneyland Resort!

Hotels of the Disneyland Resort News

Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel will soon begin a transformation, with an all-new theme! The reimagining of the hotel will weave the artistry of Pixar into its comfortable, contemporary setting. Guests will gain a new perspective on some of their favorite Pixar worlds and characters through carefully curated artwork, and décor that reveals the creative journey of the artists who helped bring these stories to life.

Guests will be welcomed into whimsical character moments, like the iconic, playful Pixar Lamp balancing atop its ball in the lobby (as pictured in this artist concept rendering). Stay tuned, as we will share much more about this project soon!

Not only do we have new and reimagined experiences coming for hotel guests, but more benefits as well!

Beginning later this summer, guests staying at one of the Hotels of the Disneyland Resort will be able to enjoy several new and returning uniquely Disney benefits to staying with us on property. As you may know, our guests already enjoy access to Disney California Adventure park directly through Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa entrance, and convenient Monorail access for Disneyland Hotel guests.

Today, we’re excited to share that a walkway is currently under construction which will soon give Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel guests a convenient entrance to Disney California Adventure park!

Guests can also look forward to “Hey Disney!” – a new kind of voice assistant which works alongside Alexa on Amazon Echo devices in Disneyland Resort hotel rooms that can make your stay more convenient, engaging, and enjoyable – later this year.

Later this summer, guests of the Disneyland Resort hotels can look forward to the ability to send select theme park purchases back to their resort hotel.

Last but certainly not least, we’re getting ready to offer early entry access, where guests staying at one of our Disneyland Resort hotels can be among the first to enter and begin enjoying select theme park attractions and experiences beginning later this summer.

Downtown Disney District News

We also are happy to share another new look at the exciting shopping and dining coming to the west side of the Downtown Disney District. While the evolution of Downtown Disney began in 2018, we recently began work on the latest transformation to introduce more innovative shopping, dining and entertainment experiences. Drawing inspiration from Southern California mid-century modern architecture, the west-end area will be a beautiful blend of vibrant color palettes, design elements and patterns influenced by the region, and will include an open lawn for relaxation and future events, and an even broader and diverse collection of dining and shopping.

iul2yg4t7y82hlu4btjgyuhik5a.jpeg.8962349ef31e512a6dfe57789168e23e.jpeg

We are investing significantly in Downtown Disney District to continue growing a dynamic, exciting destination with something for everyone. We also are intentionally diversifying our offerings to meet the needs of today’s guests, and have an exciting example of that to share with you today.

iul2yg4t7y82hlu4btjgyuhik6.jpeg.2b828910afb8ff635af08ecb3b87e2fb.jpeg

The world-renowned restaurant Din Tai Fung will join the district to offer guests their soup dumplings hand crafted right on site! This family-run restaurant will bring flavorful Chinese cuisine to Downtown Disney, where guests can enjoy dishes served family style in a creative space near our new lawn pavilion.

Michelin-starred Chef Carlos Gaytan will bring his inclusive vision of Mexican cuisine to Paseo and Centrico in the locations currently occupied by Catal & Uva Bar, brought to life by Patina Restaurant Group. The restaurant and central courtyard bar and dining area will offer guests a multi-sensory journey to the heart of Chef Gaytan’s homeland.

iul2yg4t7y82hlu4btjgyuhik8.jpeg.010c48a75ae7973b306d505125b819e9.jpeg

We are also working with Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen to finalize an evolution that incorporates vibrant California energy and a fresh approach to the menu, while staying true to the heart of New Orleans for this guest-favorite location.

Even more exciting news – fan favorite Earl of Sandwich will also pop into the district in a special sandwich walk-up location, offering guests the classics they know and love for a limited time beginning later this year.

Mickey’s Toontown News

As we shared previously, Mickey’s Toontown at Disneyland park is undergoing a reimagining of its own, and will debut with new experiences and more play for guests, with a focus on families and young children, in early 2023.

Today we are sharing a photo of our teams breaking ground on the land, coming together to celebrate this milestone and the work underway to bring this transformation to life.

We can’t wait to debut all of these offerings – and more – coming to the Disneyland Resort!

I am so freaking excited for Din Thai Fung to come to Downtown Disney!!!!!! I hope it's a big restaurant, they are going to be one hell of a busy restaurant!!!

I also find it interesting that they are replacing Catal and Uva with a Mexican inspired menu with Tortilla Jo's and the Taqueria right down the way.. It must be a completely different type of menu maybe (hopefully), not offering the standard Mexican fare. Or... Tortilla Jo's and the Taqueria are on the chopping block after this opens, which I think it equally possible.

Din Tai Fung is Taiwanese I'm stunned Disney is doing business with them seeing how China has basically implied they can snatch back the Chinese Disney parks at any time.

I went to a Dim Sum buffet in Vegas that had a 90 minute maximum - I expect high traffic establishments to start instituting a time limit.

If China did snatch back their Disney parks you wouldn't see half the hand wringing and sobbing that you saw over their loss of privilege in Florida.

you not only have no idea what the fuck you are taking about .  . . but that you felt the need to drop BS Florida politics into the DisneyLAND thread?

yeah . cements your stats as a troll.

so I guess. . .

well done congrats GIF

Ouch. 🩹 Fortunately, 'he' didn't blow up on impact, lol.

I'm not sure how accurate this is, but I saw someone say that it's not the first time that's happened.  They designed the vent the crumple like that for this exact reason.  There's a huge air bag just below the wall there, too.  The animatronic was back in action the following day.

The Disneyland Resort has announced that two of their popular holiday nighttime spectaculars will return during this holiday season!

https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/06/holiday-nighttime-spectaculars-are-back-at-disneyland-resort/

It’s never too early to dream of dancing sugarplums and all things merry and bright as Disneyland Resort joins in the fun of Halfway to the Holidays! While we haven’t announced all of the holly jolly details just yet, here are a few of the sparkling favorites that will be returning this holiday season in California. Grab your favorite Disney cocoa mug to get in the spirit and get a glimpse!

It’s all about the return of the nighttime spectaculars at Disneyland Resort. And continuing in the spirit of beloved nighttime entertainment, we are thrilled to confirm that two nighttime holiday favorites will be returning during the holiday season: “Believe… In Holiday Magic” fireworks and “World of Color – Season of Light”!

hmibadl47597597851.jpeg.fd46fb6d4f50e58d26afc882e75ac9ac.jpeg

“Believe… In Holiday Magic” fireworks is a dazzling nighttime display that brings a medley of heartwarming holiday music and culminates with a magical snowfall in several areas of the Disneyland park including Main Street, U.S.A., near the Rivers of America and in front of “it’s a small world.”

hmibadl47597597852.jpeg.22cf3a0e0b262496811c28dcf5331ef8.jpeg

“World of Color – Season of Light” will return to Paradise Bay during the holiday season at Disney California Adventure park!  This spectacular winter fantasy blends classic holiday songs with memorable moments from treasured Disney and Pixar films that illuminate a wall of mist, as fountains dance in this mesmerizing spectacle with stories of friendship, family and love.

hmibadl47597597853.jpeg.4ce748b233ababf64bf04d6eb1c52cdd.jpeg

We’re also delighted to share that the guest-favorite, 7-foot gingerbread house in the lobby of Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa will return during the holiday season! A new take on a replica of the hotel each year, this annual tradition takes months for a 25-member team to create. Can you guess how many pounds of powdered sugar it will take to make this year?

During the holiday season, you may see Disney characters donning their holiday finest, you can shop for the merriest of merchandise, and enjoy seasonal entertainment and décor throughout the parks, the Downtown Disney District and the Hotels of the Disneyland Resort. To be sure, you can also count on special menus and sweet treats a plenty!

But for those of you who just can’t wait until then … we have some suggestions for you!

To celebrate Halfway to the Holidays now for a limited time, June 23-30, 2022, you may get in the spirit at the Downtown Disney District with a Christmas Dinner Corn Dog made with a turkey hot dog, hand-dipped in batter, rolled in panko crumbs and served with a side of cranberry sauce for dipping at Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs. Or, for something more sweet, California Churro is offering a Peppermint Churro during this time.

Additionally, you can let the festivities begin now and discover holiday treasures at the year-round holiday store on Main Street, U.S.A., Plaza Point Holiday Shoppe. Here you can find ornaments, housewares, linens, accessories and all kinds of holiday-themed merchandise every day of the year! Watch as cast members meticulously hand paint names on ornaments, and personalizing your ornaments is a great gift idea!

Whether you have a holiday tradition you and your family are looking forward to at the Disneyland Resort, or if you’re looking to start a new tradition with us, we look forward to welcoming you for a most enchanting and wondrous season later this year. For now – happy Halfway to the Holidays to you!

New details regarding the replacement for Splash Mountain at the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World and at Disneyland Park have been revealed including the new attraction's name, Tiana's Bayou Adventure!

https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/07/tianas-bayou-adventure-coming-to-disney-parks-in-late-2024/

Strike up the band because we’ve saved a seat for you on this musical journey with Tiana and friends! The name of the new attraction evolving from the reimagining of Splash Mountain was announced today during ESSENCE Fest in New Orleans: Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. The all-new adventure which will bring guests into the world of Walt Disney Animation Studios’ film “The Princess and the Frog” like never before is coming to Magic Kingdom in Florida and Disneyland park in California in late 2024.

BI868768767686.jpg.647d34b582f121f6f727e87e6c8e79b8.jpg

Walt Disney Imagineers have been frequent travelers to Louisiana while conducting extensive research to ensure Tiana’s Bayou Adventure preserves the heart and soul of the city that inspired Princess Tiana’s story. From exploring the French Market and the bayou, to consulting with academics, chefs, musicians and cultural institutions, Imagineers have received inspiration from all over the region and learned from local experts along the way.

This research was explored in detail today at the French Quarter’s historic Preservation Hall during an intimate event held in honor of ESSENCE Fest, happening this weekend in New Orleans. With its own distinct history bringing people together, Preservation Hall was the ideal location to celebrate an attraction where music and community are at the heart of a transformational journey.

image2.jpeg.3c0f53d0ad21c955fc59d65792807d0c.jpeg

The celebration included a panel moderated by Victoria Uwumarogie, senior lifestyle editor at ESSENCE Magazine. Joining me in this discussion were colleagues and friends Charita Carter, executive producer of relevancy activations at Walt Disney Imagineering, Ted Robledo, executive creative director at Walt Disney Imagineering and Stella Chase, daughter of the late Chef Leah Chase who inspired Tiana’s story. Guests were treated to live art demonstrations provided by emerging talent from YAYA Arts Center, an organization we’ve engaged to commission artwork from alumna Sharika Mahdi. Music from the world-renowned Preservation Hall Jazz Band echoed throughout the hall, along with a performance by the voice of Mama Odie and living legend herself, Jenifer Lewis.

Guests are in for a true treat with local flavor when Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opens in late 2024. As Charita Carter shared, “in many ways, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is a love letter to New Orleans. Like the musical city that inspired this attraction, Tiana’s second act is about a community working in harmony to achieve something extraordinary. She reminds us of an immutable truth we can all relate to: ‘if you do your best each and every day, good things are sure to come your way.’ And that’s a melody we can all sing along to!”

To be able to join New Orleans in the celebration of Black joy as we bring Tiana’s story to its roots is a full-circle moment I’m so proud to realize. Ted Robledo added that “the joie de vivre that animates this region so brilliantly not only inspired Tiana’s journey, but also our team at Walt Disney Imagineering.” It’s our intention to do that jubilant spirit justice when advancing the storyline of Princess Tiana at our parks.

PATF_Attraction_Rendering_2021.thumb.jpg.ff25b15bef0ff5801987b788972c2df3.jpg

First announced in 2020, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will take guests on a musical adventure inspired by the beloved story and characters from the fan-favorite film. Picking up where the film left off, guests will join Princess Tiana, Naveen and jazz-loving alligator Louis on an adventure through the bayou as they prepare to host a one-of-a-kind Mardi Gras celebration where everyone is welcome. Along the way, guests will encounter familiar faces, make new friends and travel through the bayou to original music inspired by songs from the film as they are brought into the next chapter of Tiana’s story.

Be sure to check back here later today for more exciting updates from ESSENCE Fest!

^ Looking forward to how this all works out.

Just noticed, that the art work for that last one (Tiana on the bow with Louis beside he boat), includes the current mode of Splash Mountain transport, the "conga line" seating, lol. Subject to change of course, to the side-by-side ones in WDW and Tokyo.

I'm all for the refresh, let's get that out of the way.  The name, though, is bad and boring.

  • Tiana's Creole Catastrophe
  • Tiana's Cajun Chaos
  • Frogger In The Bayou
  • Jazz RazMatazz
  • Splishy Splashy Jazzy Snazzy

All of these are better options.  Tiana's Bayou Adventure is snore-inducing.

oh this "lightning lane" scheme was great, just so easy to get reservations all throughout the day and evening. Sunday afternoon: 12:30pm cali screamin -> 2pm gotg + 2:30pm spider-man -> 4pm toy story midway mania -> 6pm splash mountain PLUS a 5:20pm rise of the resistance -> 8pm grizzly river run -> 9pm world of color -> 10:45pm space mountain!!!

other thoughts:

* "45 min" wait for rise of the resistance!! (just outside the caves, we waited twice and used two lighting lanes over the two days!)

* Easy to get into the cantina bar around 9pm Sat off the app waitlist!!!

* Best way to fly the falcon: after visiting the cantina, during the fireworks, oh I crashed so many times 🤣

Disney has announced that 2022 Holiday season at the Disneyland Resort will run from November 11, 2022 through January 8, 2023!

image.thumb.png.fc4f78b37ccddb3d4d8c44f968b9fd90.png

https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/08/disneyland-resort-announces-return-of-the-holiday-season-nov-11-2022-jan-8-2023/

Disney California Adventure Park

In Disney California Adventure park, holiday décor will shine bright, with a 50-foot-tall Christmas tree on Buena Vista Street and automotive holiday embellishment in Cars Land.

The nighttime spectacular “World of Color – Season of Light” will bring holiday magic by fusing cherished holiday music with memorable moments from treasured Disney animated films.

Through energetic live entertainment, culinary delights and special traditions, Disney Festival of Holidays will highlight a diverse season of celebrations, including Christmas/Navidad, Diwali, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and Three Kings Day. Festival marketplaces across the park will serve a hand-crafted menu of delectable foods and beverages. The fan-favorite Sip and Savor Pass* will return, to taste your way through eight food or non-alcoholic beverage selections from participating marketplaces and dining locations. As part of Disney Festival of Holidays, you may also enjoy nightly holiday concerts at the Palisades Stage in Paradise Gardens Park.

The jolly lineup of holiday entertainment continues with “Mickey’s Happy Holidays,” a procession of Disney and Pixar characters dancing and marching along to the upbeat rhythms of the Holiday Toy Drummers. The “Disney ¡Viva Navidad!” street party also returns, featuring Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse donning festive fiesta attire and accompanied by Mexican folklórico dancers and Mariachis, Brazilian samba dancers and percussionists and giant mojiganga puppets.

Returning this year to Paradise Gardens Park, you may choose to visit with Mirabel from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Encanto.” And Santa Claus will once again take residence at his rustic home in the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail.

Plus, the yuletide spirit will shift into high gear in Cars Land with two seasonal attraction transformations: Luigi’s Joy to the Whirl and Mater’s Jingle Jamboree.

Disneyland Park

Disneyland park will also be adorned with festive holiday décor, including the iconic 60-foot-tall Christmas tree on Main Street, U.S.A. Sleeping Beauty’s Winter Castle will enchant from day to night with shimmering icicles and twinkling lights.

In Town Square, you may encounter favorite Disney characters in their finest holiday attire, and some will be debuting all-new outfits!

Anna, Elsa and Olaf from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Frozen,” along with Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Santa and many other friends will celebrate the season in “A Christmas Fantasy” Parade, a daily musical procession of floats, marching toy soldiers, dancing gingerbread cookies and more.

In the evenings, the festivities will continue with the “Believe… in Holiday Magic” fireworks spectacular, which features magical “snowfall” and colorful projections on Main Street, U.S.A., and the façade of “it’s a small world.” Families will also be able to dance along with characters such as Goofy, Pluto, Chip ‘n’ Dale and others during nightly holiday dance parties at the Tomorrowland Terrace.

Two beloved Disneyland attractions will return with fan-favorite seasonal transformations. “it’s a small world” Holiday takes guests around the world as dolls and toys representing children enjoying the distinctive holiday traditions of their respective countries. And In New Orleans Square, Jack Skellington and his friends cause a collision between Christmas and Halloween to transform the Haunted Mansion into Haunted Mansion Holiday.

Downtown Disney District and the Hotels of the Disneyland Resort

In the Downtown Disney District, you’ll get to discover dazzling décor and photo opportunities, festive musical entertainment and special offerings from shops and restaurants. With a breadth of boutiques to explore, Downtown Disney District will be an ideal destination for guests to find holiday gifts for the whole family!

And all three Hotels of the Disneyland Resort will display beautifully themed Christmas trees, feature performances from convivial carolers and visits from Santa Claus. The Disneyland Resort culinary team will also continue its annual gingerbread house display at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa!

  • Tiana's Creole Catastrophe - One terrible name for a restaurant
  • Tiana's Cajun Chaos - A good new name for the spinning flat ride they compliment the land
  • Frogger In The Bayou - Either an appetizer that tastes like chicken or rebirth of an 80s arcade
  • Jazz RazMatazz - Definitely a cocktail at the new restaurant. I can already taste the raspberry and vodka.
  • Splishy Splashy Jazzy Snazzy - Either a dog wash or another name for a cocktail

All of these are better options.  Tiana's Bayou Adventure is snore-inducing.

Today the Disney Parks Blog announced that the "Adventureland Treehouse" inspired by Walt Disney's Swiss Family Robinson will open at Disneyland Park in 2023, replacing the former Tarzan's Treehouse attraction.

FI65452563872678638.thumb.jpg.2be4fb082a808922e26fbca253dcd3a9.jpg

https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/11/adventureland-treehouse-at-disneyland-park-returns-in-fresh-new-way-in-2023/

We know Disneyland Resort fans have been eager to learn more about the enhancements coming to the beloved treehouse in Adventureland at Disneyland park. Today, we are excited to share new details with you!

Paying tribute to the original treehouse that Walt Disney and his Imagineers built in 1962 for the hit movie, “Swiss Family Robinson,” the Adventureland Treehouse inspired by Walt Disney’s Swiss Family Robinson will return in a fresh, new way at Disneyland park in 2023.

The Adventureland Treehouse will showcase wonderous new environments created amongst the branches of a giant tree on the shores of the Jungle River, where guests will once again enter by the giant waterwheel and follow the wood rope stairways up, up, up into the boughs.

BBI563754762356724536722.jpg.1a56cd22c7b0a8fe14a21390ebdb2990.jpg

Here, you will find fascinating rooms that the family in this new story created for one another. From the mother’s music den (as depicted in the concept art above) and the young sons’ nature room to the teenage daughter’s astronomer’s loft, all things are fashioned from found objects, natural resources, and pure ingenuity.

For those who would rather stay on terra firma, the bottom floor will showcase an ingenious kitchen and dining room, along with the father’s art studio, displaying hand-drawn sketches and paintings of each of the rooms.

Walt Disney Imagineers are hard at work and delighted to bring this classic back in a fresh way, full of magic, enchantment, and wonder. After all, who wouldn’t want to live in a tree in Disneyland?!

We look forward to sharing an opening date and more details about the new Adventureland Treehouse coming to Disneyland park in the future.
