p. 393 - Pixar Place Hotel transformation will be completed on January 30th, 2024!

Star Wars on one end, Frozen on the other. Because of course!

Playing to their audience! Smart, Disney...

Exactly--their two hottest properties, not to mention the theme-park expansions involving both.

Everyone's probably too hung over to hit the parks! If it's anything like the ski resorts, they are relatively dead on New Year's Day in the morning and early afternoon, then get super busy later.

This time period (minus Spring Break which the ticket is not valid for) is a slower time for the parks normally. But, with the Diamond Celebration, and the discounted ticket, people will likely continue to keep the attendance figures high. Even with the closures, cause its a discounted ticket.

Disney's first foray into dynamic pricing...offering the locals a great deal when it's slow....

I never realized since I've always had a pass, but it seems they actually do this every year.

Discounted rates for Southern California residents began in 2003 as a way to boost attendance during the so-called off-season, from January to May.

The only time Disney skipped the discounts was in 2013, after opening the immediately popular Cars Land in Disney California Adventure.

They offered this same ticket to locals last year for $139 and in 2012 for $129.

And before that were the 2fer years. Two one-day one-park tickets for $99, but they couldn't be the same park on both days. It was usually offered January-May every year pre DCA re-launch.

Good point I could still see this going away in favor of dynamic pricing by the time Star Wars Land is launched.

I agree. You almost have to if the Star Wars crowds are crazy like when Potterhell was opened in Orlando.

So, today, the Disney parks Blog posted our first look at the redone river.

First Look at New Rivers of America Waterfront and Disneyland Railroad at Disneyland Park in California

posted on January 11th, 2016 by Erin Glover, Editorial Content Director, Disneyland Resort

The Rivers of America and the Disneyland Railroad at Disneyland park in Southern California have closed temporarily as we prepare to bring an all-new Star Wars-themed land to the park. When these areas reopen, the north bank of the Rivers of America will have a beautiful new waterfront, which I’m excited to give you a sneak peek at today.

As you can see from this artist’s rendering, courtesy of Walt Disney Imagineering, this gorgeous new riverbank will also feature an elevated trestle over which the iconic Disneyland Railroad will travel.

Keep an eye on Disney Parks Blog, as we continue to bring you updates from the ongoing expansion of Disneyland park in California.

Hi Res Image

Some things to notice for people who have had concerns about this part of the project:

The Burning Cabin, Keel Boat, and Indian Village are all still represented in this art. Also, if you look where the train exits the river, that seems to resemble the old Cascade Peak that some many people liked from the past.

As well, you can see the Fort Wilderness at the bottom of the image, which gives you a sense of there the river will be be cut.

I am very excited about all these changes coming to the park!!

I'm glad that Disney is using the construction of the new Star Wars land as an opportunity to upgrade the Rivers of America. Sure, it's going to take a while, but we're going to get a much-improved Frontierland, too.

I attached a Hi Res Image to the original post.

Also, good catch bill! It does look like the old Mine train area along the waters edge.

Also, in the big image, you can see a second bridge to the upper right. I wonder if that.s the entrance to Star Wars Land? I kinda figured the train would go through a tunnel, over the entrance of the land. Simply because it doesn't really fit the theme of the new land. But maybe not.

They should have a train station that requires you to pass through a checkpoint lined with Stormtroopers.
