Disneyland Resort (DL, DLR, DCA) Discussion Thread

p. 393 - 70th Anniversary events and lineup announced!

^I did something similar at Wine Country Trattoria - was about $30 for three-course lunch and priority seating for WoC. The meal was pretty good, and we got a spot right on the fence. Definitely worth it!

I took this option since Cathay Circle was booked. My GF ordered the Lamb, and I the Fillet. It was really good, and the desserts were awesome. One of the best parts was sitting upstairs for dinner while the Pixar Parade made its way passed the restaurant. The kids got an awesome view as we sipped our cocktails

I didn't get the chance to check out the Carthay back in December, but I'll probably try it the next time I visit DCA. The menu looked pretty tempting, and I wouldn't mind having a nice cocktail in the bar.

I can vouch for the excellent mint sundae at the Ghirardelli shop, though.

I can vouch for the cocktails in the bar and the duck sliders. SOOO GOOD! Actually, I think I can vouch for a lot of cocktails in and around the resort....

That is a great one. One of my favorites is the peanut butter one.

^I did enjoy some nice "tropical style" drinks at Trader Sam's during that trip.

The "Uh Oa!" is quite the drink..they're not joking around when they say it's enough for two people.

That place is my jam! Although, usually I drink an Uh Oa to myself my favorite drink there is the Navy Grog. I'll be attending NAMM this week, and I feel a Trader Sam's night for my band is in order for Thursday.

I liked the Tiki, Tiki, Tiki, Tiki, Tiki, Tiki Rum concoction.

According to the wonderful world of ScreamScape.....

2014 - Big Thunder Rehab - NOW CLOSED - (2/5/14) Sorry to disappoint everyone, but it seems the already overdue reopening of Big Thunder Mountain has been pushed back from Feb. 14th until April 1st. I’ve heard that they have been testing trains, so an unknown issue of some kind may have come up during testing.

Its a little early for April fools jokes, no?

Disney is known for its ability to spark wonder in all of us. In that spirit, we at AT&T imagined a network blueprint to provide connectivity for Disney Cast Members and Guests at Walt Disney World® Resort and Disneyland® Resort.

Throughout 2013 we talked about the variety of tools we use to provide an unparalleled network experience for our customers. As part of our new role as The Official Wireless Sponsor for Walt Disney World® Resort and Disneyland® Resort, we made the magic happen by activating a combination of 3G and 4G LTE technologies.

For the first time ever, we deployed outdoor Distributed Antenna Systems (oDAS) and indoor DAS (iDAS), repeaters and small cells on a large scale at one location. Both small cells and DAS are part of our Project Velocity IP (VIP), which is geared to help densify our network coverage.

We have completed the successful deployment of more than 350 small cells, 25 DAS systems and 40 repeaters at Disneyland® Resort and Walt Disney World® Resort properties. We’ve deployed specialty network solutions at the Magic Kingdom® Park, Epcot®, Disney’s Hollywood Studios®, Disney’s Animal Kingdom® Theme Park and Downtown Disney® Area at Walt Disney World® Resort near Orlando; at Disneyland® Resort in Anaheim; and at Disney Resort Hotels in Hawaii, California, Florida and Hilton Head, South Carolina.

While these solutions are designed to go unnoticed, blending seamlessly into the aesthetics of the Disney Parks and Resorts, their impact has been easy to see. Small cells have provided coverage boosts in areas with geographic cellular challenges and are mostly located in offices, administrative areas and tunnels used by cast members. In both Orlando and Anaheim, our engineers have found the areas with small cells have experienced a more than 10x increase in mobile voice and data traffic on our network. And at the Magic Kingdom® Park at Walt Disney World® Resort, our monitoring has shown the DAS technology has consistently received high marks for network voice and data reliability.

While early marks show solid performance, our work is not yet finished. We plan to participate in the deployment of additional cell sites across the Walt Disney World® Resort property, and as this world-renown destination continues to build and expand, we will be there to bring wireless connectivity to each new area.

Well, crap. I was planning on a visit the first week of March, too!

I think Its an arbitrary date. I am guessing it will open before then and they are just giving themselves time so they don't have to change it again. Just a guess though.

So, I just got back from visiting the park (Thursday-Saturday), and on Thursday BTMR ran Cast Member testing. I attempted to get pictures, and went as far as to attempt to sweet talk my way in (show some leg, etc), but they were very strict and wouldn't even let me take a pic of the entry way. The following day, it just so happened that my bassists client, a high roller who hires him for motion graphics, was also in the park and booked a VIP tour for 8 hours and put us with his group. That tour guide said the effects in the final room are amazing. The digital mapping used in the final hill sequence sounds really promising and could offer a more consistent effect than the original. I feel the new Mara effect on Indiana Jones shows that they can deliver a highly convincing effect with digital mapping will less error/down time. I remember the Mara old effect would hardly work half of the time and it consisted of flashing lights and smoke.

So here's to wishful thinking, and hopefully BTMR it will soft open sometime in the next couple of weeks.

It will most definitely soft open very very soon. The park is holding CM previews at the beginning of march, and they are allowed to invite guests. Which means its been approved by the stat (at that point) to allow the public to ride. I would say that pretty much, as soon as the walls come down and the CM preview has taken place, the soft opening wont be far behind.
