TheRapidsNerd
Went out to dinner tonight with an old high school friend who recently got a new job, got engaged, and moved to Birmingham. Since he was sick of packing up his apartment, Ray called me up and we decided to go Carrabba's. Actually, we careened into the idea. Needless to say, I got the silly idea for this TR and whipped out my cell phone repeatedly during dinner. Afterward, we made a "snack" run to Kroger where there were strange things that begged to be photographed. Yep, totally pointless, but fun. Enjoy! Ok, one more look at the awesome Lasagne. Must...get...MORE.... Shiver me timbers! Here be the end o the tale mateys. But Friar Tuck IS... Jesus is NOT happy with you... He's glad he's not the other pumpkin. This ghost would inflate and "rise" out of the bean bag sized pumpkin, then deflate and go back in. Yeah, we snickered like 12 year olds. Hello hippo fan person who's name I can't remember, but whom I thought of right away. So we went Krogering and were greated by this on the way in. Bye bye Carrabba's. You hot Italian stud of an eatery! Bench: The Ride was running multiple trains and was a walk on. The statue credits outside were quite lovely. Oooo! Illicit PoV! But not as good as THIS! Parmesan House Salad. Mighty tasty... MMmmmm...Lasagne. BEST EVER! This is Celli. (pronounced "Kelly") Celli was very nice to us and even agreed to be in this TR. We were grateful for her kindness and left good words with the manager. She'll be looking for this so "hello" to her and we'll be back soon! Ooooh Yeeeaaaahh! That's what I came for! Apparently, the Omen child is doing well as a chef. I skipped the "Scampi Damian" fearing hellish indigestion. Carrabba's! If you love Italian, this is just a great place to go. Good quality food and reasonable prices.
Tömmioh
That was a nice random TR I dunno why, but for some reason I find that priest-outfit very funny lol, and yay for tasty lasagne, should have some soon, but yeah thanks for the TR. spaceace12
Kroger sucks. 1. Because I worked there for 6 months 2. I work for a small hometown grocery store now (not too small though, probably half the size of a regular kroger) The restraunt looks cool though. texashorns82492
Carrabba's is amazing, Kroger is not.
CoastersNSich
Kroger is an overall good chain store to shop at. Some of their stores are very friendly, clean, and able to get you checked out in almost no time. Other stores can be holes.
ginzo
Maybe I'll post a photo TR from Jungle Jim's, an amazing international grocery store here near Cincy. Yeah, I know what you East/West coast people are thinking, but it's true. Jungle Jim's is about 300,000 sq ft. of awesome. Their wine section alone is bigger than an entire Trader Joe's. TheRapidsNerd
Talk about random! I post a PTR with Carrabba's as the spotlight, and the Kroger segment steals the show. Funny! Trader Joe's and Fresh Market are a couple of my faves. Got these awesome yogart covered blueberries at Trader Joe's last summer on our trip to Newport Beach. Was overjoyed that Target here carries Pirate's Booty like TJ!
spaceace12
Here in the Haute, we have 3 Krogers, a couple IGA's, and a few independants. Kroger has about 14 checks, others about 10. My job has 6 up front and 2 on the side. Because of our customer service and products, more people visit my store because of that. One part I love about my job is getting to know my customers. There is two in particular, that I leave my main job up front and if they don't have help, I push a cart through the store and help them (one has MS and is bound to a wheel chair and the other is a former worker at my p/t job now bound to a wheel chair). The only bad part about my job, holidays!!!! 6 lanes open with lines out to the aisles. Anyway, since the closest Terre Haute has to a themed restraunt, would be Cheeseburgers in Paradise, that one looked pretty cool. CiP is too expensive, so I heard, 10 dollars is what I heard for cheeseburger.
ebl
We have no Kroger in California, though I think Ralphs out here is a Kroger-owned store. Interesting TR, though. Eric
TheRapidsNerd
(chuckling and shaking head) Dear God! I've spawned a Kroger topic thread on a roller coaster forum! Tune in next week for my exclusive look at the Circle C corner gas station. Is it REALLY tangerine Life Savers slushy, or just bad orange? Hmmmm..... The owner actually bought the old monorail from Kings Island, and has part of it on display out front. He's also got a singing Elvis bear, and other misc. weirdness. He talked about building a food theme park, but I doubt that will ever happen.
TheRapidsNerd
^ LOL! Are you kidding me? That's great! Yes, would love to see the pics on that. Those of us who like food a whole lot would enjoy. Always wondered what happened to the KI Monorail. I remember riding that because it's air conditioning was really cold and some animal was napping on the track, so we had to wait for it to move. I just liked TJ for the unique food. Didn't give much thought to the atmosphere. Great selection there. Mitsuwa, (sp?) the Japanese market/food court near UC Irvine was also a first. Bought a book and my prized luck cat there. Lunch. Egg and chicken bowl and other tasty stuff I don't remember. Food Court Table PoV!

Trader Joe's is a really good store for getting amazing bargains on good food and wine, especially wine. But, their varying selection from week to week can get irritating if you've grown to expect a certain thing. I haven't tried Fresh Market out yet, even though we've got a few here now. As for the monorail, I don't think he'll ever actually get it working again. I think he just likes having it on display out front. You know the food theme park concept could really work if played out correctly.
TheRapidsNerd
^Fresh Market here in Huntsville seems to have a good wine selection and good cuts of meat and quality seafood. Dunno if the products change out tho. Seemed like they had a decent selection of cheese, and I love my cheese (yeah, big surprise there!). Awesome! Can't wait to see the Jungle Jim's TR! A food theme park would be great, just as long it doen't get over politically correct and hitched to the current diet fads. Hmmm... *Cheese themed ferris wheel - The Big Wheel *Veggie themed merry go round - Forget horses! Tomatos, Carrots, Cucumbers. Yeah, this could be a VERY popular attraction. *Inside the Fridge dark ride *Candy Town themed kiddie area *Giant broccoli bundle with a slide wrapping around it. *Giant cheese wedge with holes for kids to crawl around on *BBQ themed rapids ride - boats look like hamburgers *Sponsored by Oscar Meyer and displaying the WeinerMobile? *Mushroom themed benches and chairs *Dairy themed mac bobsled - The Milk Run *Ice cream sunday themed rockin tug - Sunday Jubilee *Dueling B&M suspended coasters - Ham and Eggs_Hold onto your shell! *Pancake themed tea cup ride - Breakfast Blitz *Bananna swinging ship - Top Bananna *Intamin drop tower - The Price Drop *Scrambler - Super Market Scramble *Frozen themed himilaya - The Ice Box *Boomerang coaster - Leftovers *GCI wood coaster - Smokehouse Run *B&M hyper - Chuck Wagon Rampage OK, I'm spent. The Nerd need food.

terrancew_hod
We have both a Carrabba's and Kroger here... The Carrabba's is right around the corner from my new job. Still haven't eaten there though. I really only like pizza and lasagna when it comes to italian food. Terry

TheRapidsNerd
resonancej - Man, I appreciate those words. You're too kind. In truth, the TR took on it's own creation, I was just a pass through. BamaRob21 - Thank you! That was maybe the 3rd time I've been since it opened. If you're ever in town, give me a shout. I'll do the same when I'm down that way and have some time. Alabama Adventure is on the docket for next summer. terrancew_hod - KrakenKing is on to something. The chicken might be a good reason to go, if not the statue credits out front. BTW, I'll dial back on using your signature joke. It's just become an immediate thought and a TPR classic. KrakenKing - Chicken Bryan eh? That sounds pretty tasty along with the Scampi Damian. Hey thanks all. I'm humbled. Have a great weekend!

No statue credits in front, the restaurant is kinda hidden by the Applebees and not visible from the street. I did find another statue credit in the area that would make an absolutely foul picture, but I need someone to snap the picture... and preferably when I'm not wearing my work clothes. Maybe around the holidays I can get my friends to snap a photo or be in one with me. Terry
