Why, because the Bible never mentions aliens. I'm not going to get into an argument, but you can't work in absolutes with religion.

And I was stating that for someone who believes the world will end in 2012, you seem to pick and chose what you want to believe.

Watched Strange Wilderness last night which was SO funny . It was really late though and I was on no sleep . So if I were to watch it now it might not seem so funny .

Chicken Little 8/10

Better than I thought it would be. Caught it on TV this morning and watched it. The animation was pretty freakin good and the story line was alright. There are furries in the movie, so this gets a stamp of approval from Elissa!

Indiana Jones 4 - 8/10

Went to see this again in the theaters because a friend of mine hadn't seen it yet, but I must say, I really enjoyed it this time around! Perhaps it was because my expectations were too high going in the first time, but I noticed a lot of jokes and details that I didn't see or hear before. Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is still the weakest Indy film for me (with the Temple of Doom being next) but overall good, clean, fun. I recommend watching it again and giving it another chance for those who didn't particularly like it the first time... you might actually think it's good!

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian

9/10

Absolutely fantastic. Although the story isn't as good as the first one, the battle scenes is much more magical and the whole thing is just more... exciting. No more innocence like the first movie. It's all about justice, fight and belief.

Sex and the City: The Movie

8/10

I must say I'm quite pleased with the movie. I laughed so many times when watching it. The sexual humor is just hilarious and some parts are touching as well. It's satisfying, especially for the fans of the series. Although I'm quite disappointed by the fact that Singapore censorship cuts so many scenes in the movie, it's still very good.

Sex and the City - Never watched a second of the series, but the opening credits is devoted to explaining the characters and I liked the movie...

The Strangers - I watched it sitting with a bunch of girls who I work with and they all screamed and grabbed my hand every time a mask appeared in the distance. Looking back, it wasn't all that good, but it was fun to watch.

I can't wait for Kung Fu Panda tomorrow!

A short movie review: "Equilibrium"

"Equilibrium" was a movie that came out in 2002, but it was never a box office hit. It had found an audience on DVD and became a cult classic.

I had never heard of it, though. I stumbled on this film by accident. One night, I was reading Wikipedia and found an article on the movie "Ultraviolet." It mentioned Gun Kata (a mix of martial arts and gun play) and the Gun Kata article mentioned the movie "Equilibrium." I had causally put "Equilibrium" on my Blockbuster queue and forgot about it. Somehow, it got pushed to the top of the queue and was sent to me. I put it into my DVD player, without knowing what the movie was about or even reading the description on the DVD sleeve.

Sometimes surprises can be pleasant ones and I really enjoyed "Equilibrium."

What is "Equilibrium" about? Here's a good plot summary that I found from imdb.com:

"At the end of World War III, the world fell under the control of Father and the Tetragrammaton: a government that outlaws all forms of art and emotion. Citizens are forced to take drugs that eliminate emotions. However, 'Sense Offenders': citizens who resist the laws and operate underground are continually at war with the Tetragrammaton. John Preston is a Cleric, an elite super-soldier who's mission is to hunt down and eliminate Sense Offenders with the help of a ruthless police force. One day, Preston accidentally breaks his morning dose of emotion suppressant drug and begins to feel. Soon, he begins sympathizing with the Sense Offenders and begins to understand the beauty of feeling... A beauty that the government, in which Preston spent his life serving, would like to see destroyed. "

The movie stars notable names as Christian Bale as John Preston, Sean Bean as Errol Partridge (a fellow Cleric), Emily Watson as Mary O'Brien (a "Sense Offender"), and Taye Diggs as Brandt (a fellow Cleric).

If you've read the plot summary or watched the trailer, you might think that this movie borrows from various sci-fi movies, like "Fahrenheit 451," "1984," "Logan's Run," and "The Matrix." In fact, if you put sunglass on Preston, he'd fit right into Neo's gang from "The Matrix." However, I'd never found a movie that borrows from so many elements as "Equilibrium" to be so satisfying. The movie has some kinetic action scenes. You can almost think of the action scenes as "The Matrix" minus wires and CGI. The hero almost never seems to be hit by the enemy's bullets, yet the scenes are very fun and thrilling. The movie would not be as good as it is if not for Christian Bale's acting. He is a man who had no emotions to one who is experiencing emotions for the first time. His journey is about as compelling as the action.

The director of "Equilibrium" is Kurt Wimmer. He also directed "Ultraviolet." I did see that movie a while ago and I don't remember the world or the action being as compelling as "Equilibrium." I'll have to give "Ultraviolet" a second look.

There are some movies you find that very few people have heard of. When you find such a movie, you want to let everyone know to go out and watch it. "Equilibrium" is one of those movies. Even after watching it a few weeks ago, I often think about it and find movie clips on YouTube. Heck, I even read the fansite www.equilibriumfans.com once in a while. I still remember the action sequences and I wonder what sort of world it would be if we had no emotions.

Go out and rent or buy this one! It's worth seeing.

Here's the movie trailer.

Here's a great music video of the movie (WARNING: SPOILERS!).

^I disagree.

I thought "The Strangers" was rather good. There were a few parts that I really scared me and had me on the edge of my seat! Not the best horror film by any means, but I recommend it.

I'm a huge horror movie buff and was completely let down by this film. There really is no plot or explanation.

But sometimes that can work to the films favor! Just as an example, Uzumaki (a Japanese horror film) has virtually no plot nor explanation as to what exactly is happening. However, the visuals, the suspense, the directing, and the chaotic vibe of the film, make it one of the scariest films I've ever seen. It worked for Uzumaki's advantage because it gave a certain mystery to the entire film.

I just got back from Lake Tahoe, and there I saw three movies. Here are my reviews for them.

Kung Fu Panda

Before I start, I LOVED this movie. Jack Black in it was amazing, along with the rest of the stars in it. The plot was a bit predictable, but that didn't stop this movie from being great. The humor was also great, with some great lines and in-jokes. Not a perfect movie, but otherwise great.

Overall Score: 9/10

I Am Legend

This movie was pretty good, but it could have been a lot better. The beginning was excellent, it was amazing how Will Smith could hold the show with only himself and his dog for most of the film. There are quite a few edge-of-your-seat moments, and others where you know something's about to pop up, and it still scares you. The ending, however, was terrible, in my opinion. It ends like it ran into a brick wall, I won't spoil it. But otherwise, this movie had many thrills and exciting scenes, even though parts of it dragged on for a bit.

Overall Score: 7/10

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

I don't understand why people are considering this to be the best Indy movie since Raiders. I thought this film was missing that little bit of magic that made the others excellent. Also, this movie ditched the archaeology-ish feel for almost a science fiction type of movie. It was still pretty good, with great action and a steady-moving plot, but it just felt "meh" the entire way through. I recommend it still, but don't be expecting the greatest Indy movie ever created.

Overall Score: 7/10

The Incredible Hulk 6.5/10

Edward Norton holds this movie together until the end were the final battle left me bored and looked like a video game. Overall it was a vast improvement over Ang Lee's, due to a screenplay by Edward Norton . I can't wait for Marvels next movies.

OMG Everyone with the need for intense gore MUST see À l'intérieur (Inside) It is an 80min non cut film that puts almost everything to shame. It is actually a cinematic masterpiece for the horro genre! I watched with four friends the other day and we are still in shock and awe.

Forget Frontiers and rent this NOW.
