DATman
Juno Wow. I mean, just wow. It had some of the best writing of any film I've seen this year. All of the jokes were hilarious, the story flowed beautifully, and it was really refreshing to see a teen/adult comedy that truly felt sincere. Ellen Page and Michael Cera were brilliant together. I saw it twice when I was back in CA for Christmas, and I can't wait to see it when it gets local distribution here in MI so I can take my friends. Manny In England
I Am Legend 7.5/10 A good film with good acting and great CGI but it just felt too much like 28 Days Later with the whole empty city thing. Still really enjoyable.
zippo123
Latest movie I saw: National Treasure - Book of Secrets VERY good, better than I expected. It's awesome how they get all of these clues. 8.5/10 EDIT: ^^ That's the last movie I saw in the THEATERS but I saw Superbad on DVD. ^ I just can't even explain it. Definitely deserves at LEAST a 8/10. I rate it 8.5/10 though.
masterofthematrix91
Sweeney Todd: The demon Barber of Fleet Street First off....yes my mom let me see this! This is a very rare event for me. This was a VERY good movie/musical. It is rated R for bacically having a few Kill Bill moments. You have to see it, my only problem the ending.....I din't feel any closure with it... 8.9/
Disney Dood
The Truman Show Well acted, funny yet also had some dramatic moments. My only complaint was that it was kinda short. 9.3/
Leaping La Ronde Boobis
Juno (2007) 9/10 Great movie, Ellen Page proves that you can go somewhere after appearing on Trailer Park Boys. With a witty script by Diablo Cody and remarkable direction by Jason Reitman and a great cast, Juno is definitely a winner. Just when I thought I finalized my top ten of 2007 list, I've got to revise it all now. Thank you! Juno was written by a theme park enthusiast...me. I'm bummed I didn't get any Schwarzkopf mentions in there. Maybe the next movie... You're welcome and thank you for writing Juno. I'm an aspiring screenwriter and that means a lot. Good luck during awards season, you're a lock.
Freefallbestrideever
I Am Legend- 7/10, good movie, but for some reason i felt like i had already seen it all before. Requiem For A Dream-8/10 good movie, sad, but i didn't find it as devastating as some people made it out to be. Atonement looks really good and i'm getting irritated that i haven't seen it
Groteslurf
History of Violence : 8.5/10 Wow, this is a good movie. I love those different plot turns. Excellent movie. Only a pitty about the ending. They could have done more with that.
Blink
Movies that I just saw recently Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story- 9/10..the acting was really bad, as it was supposed to, but no movie this year has made me laugh harder than this one, so halarious. Superbad- 8/10...between the 175 f-words, the sex jokes and refferences thoughout and cops who some how get away with drinking like crazy in uniform, lies one of the funniest movies of 2007. Absolutely halarious.Their wasn't one joke in this movie that I didn't laugh at. If you have a high tolerance for f-words and lvoe to laught your butt off, I really reccomend this. brilinjo
Last 3 movies I've seen at the cinema: 1) National Secret 2 - 5/10. It is just so unbelievable it's funny. Nicolas Cage is such a wooden actor. Haven't seen the 1st one, don't think I'll bother. 2) Enchanted - 6/10. Cute. Some funny bits. Mainly a kids movie but still enjoyable for adults. Prince Edward (James Marden) was hilarious. 3) I Am Legend - 7.5/10. The isolation that Robert Neville (Will Smith) felt (the empty city, the interaction with his dog, him talking to the mannequins etc) was what made the movie. In my opinion the CGI creatures spoiled the film. Less would have been more. Last 3 movies I have seen on DVD: 1) Die Hard 4.0 - 8/10. Good fun, lots of action, you just can't kill Bruce. 2) Premoniton - 3/10. The intentionally disjointed time scale was too hard to follow. Memento was done so much better. 3) Final Destination 6/10. Good scenario, left you wondering.

SonOfBeastSucks
The Diving Bell and the Butterfly I loved it. It is about a magazine editor who suddenly experiences a stroke at the age of 42, who then is in a coma for about three weeks, who then wakes up completely paralyzed, except for his left eye. This state is known as locked-in syndrome, and is extremely rare. As doctors, his physical therapist, and most important for the plot's sake, his speech therapist, begin to work with him, he is taught a way to communicate. A special alphabet with letters in order of how often they are used is...presented to him. The way it works is his speech therapist recites this alphabet and he blinks when she says his letter. It is a slow process at first, but he then begins communicating well with it and eventually publishes a book written by him while in this state. I think locked-in syndrome is fascinating and that the movie itself is very good. Look for it in art house/indie theaters. It is probably gone by now though, as my indie theater takes a while to get movies in after they are released. As I reread this, I realized the plot sounds boring, but it is really very good. He goes through flashbacks and thinks about how he could have treated people better. Also, the camera work is very good, a lot of it being in first person, your view being his view out of his left eye. No Country for Old Men I liked this too, but not as much. It is a great movie and probably deserving of all the praise it gets. It is more popular, so I won't dwell on the plot, but I do reccommend it. The girl I saw it with didn't like the style of it or the plot, but it is great if you are in the mood for the type of movie it is...which I say is a thinking man's suspense/action movie, I guess. I liked the long pauses in the important moments. The directors used and placed the silences well. Juno I loved it. I love the director, because of his past work with Thank You For Smoking and he did just as good of a job with this. Great performences are given by all. At one point the movie goes into a sense of dread and I had a pretty good idea of what was going to happen, but still it hits you hard. Also, I stayed home all day working on some things, but in between I managed to watch a couple of old movies... Sunset Boulevard I've always known of this movie, but had never seen it. I thought it was great, had an interesting plot, and deserving of it's fame. Rope This is a short (80 minutes) Hitchcock movie from 1948. It has James Stewart in it, whom I am a fan of. It all takes place in the same New York apartment. Two boys commit what they see as the perfect murder, which includes stashing the body in the apartment and then inviting people over for a small party. An old teacher they once had whom is at the party, who they got the idea from originally, becomes suspicious while there. The final 15 minutes are great. I'd say its better than Hitchcock movies like Vertigo, I Confess, Stage Fright, etc, but not on the same level as Psycho.

GoogleMickey
I Am Legend 8.5 out of 10 This Film was great but it had a some what disappointing ending. It felt like the makers of the film were forced to end it earlier then it was supposed to. Overall though It did provide action along with a great plot and I would say it is a must see this season. Enchanted 10 out of 10 I saw this film at the El Capitan which made the movie all that and then some. The film it self is amazing, full of comedy that will keep you laughing the entire time. It isn't just a little kid film or a chick flick, I personally think everyone will get something from this movie. National Treasure 2, 7.5 out of 10 This film was a wonderful sequel to the first one, but it wasn't the same as the first one. The first film had this filming that seemed more real, that this film lacked. The movie was good and is worth seeing but it doesn't have the same feel as the first one does. At least this film did take off rather quickly and did keep me entertianed the entire time.
Groteslurf
PotC : Dead man's chest. 7/10 I like Jack Sparrow, I like the stunts and special effects, I like the music, ... I don't really like the story. At least I know now how to pronounce Kraken

bigstevet07
I just saw National Treasure 2 last night. As far as believablity and serious movies, I would give it a .5 just for trying. As for entertainment purposes, I would give it an 8. It was enjoyable with the action sequences and how they build up to finding the treasure, but no way can you take this movie serious. Its a good choice if all you want to do is escape any kind of reality for a while. My one bone to pick about this one, is that it has WAY too much of an Indy feel now. There of course are many differences, but the treasure they were looking for and stuff just felt too much like and Indy movie. Oh yeah, watched We Are Marshall Saturday night. It was an ok movie, I thought maybe it could be a little more moving since it was such a huge tragedy, but I felt it fell short.
the ghost
I am a movie fanatic and live with my parents so I saw everything I thought looked good. Here are a lot of reviews of various movies that I saw over winter break. Also I usuaully sneak in to another movie becasue they are expensive. I saw Sweeney Todd last week and I thought it was great. An awesome mix of music and gore 10/10 I am legend- was also good but wasnt as good as sweeney becasue the aombie people were pretty fake but had a high jump factor 8.5/10 Walk Hard- This movie was pretty funny but unfortunatley I thought it would be as good as Anchorman or Talladega but it was not as funny as I thought it would be. 8/10 Juno- This movie was pretty funny but the main reason I like it is becasue it is really realistic and I was scared that it would be a copy of knocked up but it was not. Also I tend to like indy movies. 8.5/10 National Tres. 2- Not bad because it was entertaining but at the same time this movie was total BS. At the same time it wasnt bad and it was pretty entertaining but I hate Nicholas Cage because he is not a good actor. 6/
slither37
I saw National Treasure 2 last weekend and I found it very enjoyable and fun. I do not judge movies by how "realistic" the movie is. It IS a movie, for entertainment. It did have the Indy feel as mentioned before, but was still very good. I saw this movie onetime where the villain, who was voiced by James Earl Jones, wore black plastic and ended up being the hero's father. This movie had spaceships flying all over the place going light speed. COMPLETE BS. As far as believability, I gave it a .000000000001/ 10, but it was very entertaining. coolhandluke
For those that don't know, I Am Legend is based (albeit loosely) on a novel by Richard Matheson in 1954. The book is set in LA. The movie followed the book in terms of the ending, with Neville doing what he did (haha! No spoilers!). Is it a letdown? That depends. But I appreciate the film sticking to the ending in the book (though the surrounding scenario is quite different). But I give the movie 8/10 for Will Smith in (as I see it) his best performance EVER. Yes, better than MIB and Pursuit of Happyness and Fresh Prince... I also found American Gangster to be awesome...9/10. Denzel is my hero.
downunder
Saw I am Legend last night a lot better than I thought it would be a solid 7.5/10.
astroworldfan1
I jsut saw Rudy today at school and I really enjoyed it. Its kinda like the Persuit of Happiness, "Don't let anybody tell you, you can't do something". Its a good movie. I suggest you watch it. Its about Notre Dame too! RctInfinity
Dead Silence: 9.5/10 I watched both the R-rated and unrated version yesterday. I don't see exactly hundreds of differences between the two versions, but the unrated version showcases a few extra shots and a special detail with Mary Shaw. I loved the movie. I think the reason why some people rate it low is because most of them came in expecting another SAW movie, since it's from the same writers and director(s) of SAW. I don't like horror movies that much. The Sixth Sense scared the wits out of me when I was about 10 because it was a perfect fit in my fears. Dead Silence was one of the "tamer" R-rated movies I saw. The killings weren't really shown. It showed Mary Shaw killed off-screen, and the murders by Mary Shaw showed before and after, basically. There were some parts that were funny ("If you say 'I told you so,' I'll shoot you") and some parts that were both scary and creepy. The hotel part gave me the willies. The part in the car with Billy running around and with the mirror in Mary Shaw's room both got my heart pumping for a few seconds and made me gasp of surprise. Mary Shaw's character was very mysterious and awesome. Her ghostly smile added to the "creepy factor". The movie itself was almost like an artistic masterpiece. The guys who made this really knew what they were doing. When Jamie, the main character, was sleeping in the hotel room, the room was lit up every two seconds with a neon red. That color really added to what happened in there. During a funeral, everyone was moving a little slow and the main color was blue. I really admired some parts of this great movie. When Detective Lipton and Jamie were suddenly running from the ghost of Mary Shaw, it showed Mary gliding down the hallway. When she got closer to the camera, it looked like it was a classic horror movie. Another part was in one of her murders. Before her victim died, she slowly smiled as he screamed, and her face came hurtling toward the camera, which is an effect I like a lot. The reason why it is not a 10 out of 10 is because while Jamie suggested the dummy was the main role in a murder at the beginning, he propped it up in his car, his hotel room, etc, but hey: it's usually the protagonist's ignorance of something that makes the horror. The twist at the end was fantastic. Sorry for the review being pretty long. I was excited about this movie. Juno: 9/10 I saw Juno yesterday, also (I guess yesterday was sort of a movie day). There were many good jokes and it made me feel good. I really liked some of the songs that played during the movie (I got to get some songs from iTunes from the soundtrack...). The actors were stupendous. Ellen Page and Michael Cera were perfect with showing necessary emotions. Jennifer Garner's performance near the end of the movie (not to mention the entire movie) really got to me.
Groteslurf
PotC At world's end : 5,5/10 I like the attraction, but I don't like the movies : Jack Sparrow is cool, Keira Knightley is beautiful, some nice special effects, but a meh story.
