cfc
Checked out John Carpenter's Prince of Darkness last night. It's a bit muddled, but I give Carpenter credit for tackling complex questions about the nature of good and evil (God and the Devil) and the relationship of religion and science. But after an interesting start, it devolves into a fairly generic "zombie" flick. It was amusing seeing Alice Cooper, as a homeless guy, impale a hapless grad student with half a bicycle, though. alilstronger
I watched 50/50 last night for the first time and I think it is such a well done movie. Do I feel they could have dramatized it a little bit yes, but it was well done.
sfgam#1
Silent hill revelations .... Well it was very disappointing after waiting that long for a sequel there is just so much wrong but I really dont feel like getting into details the best I can give it is 1.9/5 Cloud atlas ...Well I'm confused lets just say that ... I mean I knew it though. I was like watch I'm gonna be super confused and I'm going to have to pay attention to every second ...Which if you dont you're gonna be extremely lost. I mean it's visually amazing and has some really cool effects. But I dont like confusing movies in general. Like inception, I couldn't stand that movie but once I understood it i thought it was amazing ... So I guess once I figure this movie out I'll love it. Now I'm not saying it isn't good, I'm just saying its confusing almost more confusing as Inception. Oh yeah and the acting was extremely good. 3.5/5 Could go up if I understand it. onewheeled999
^ Really? I found that the stories were told in a very straightforward manner, but I guess the fact that you have to follow six of them may put some people off. I liked that element a lot, personally. But yes, I saw Cloud Atlas last night. Since I tend to run on and on about movies, I'll try to condense this: SEE THIS MOVIE. Ignore the critics, please give it a chance. It's such a beautiful, engrossing, (god I hate this word) epic film that delivers on all fronts, leaving me glued to the screen for its entire 3-hour running time. My only criticisms are that the makeup can be a little bit distracting, and the neo-English spoken in the last story in the timeline is really difficult to understand. It's more than worth seeing in a theater, but that story may be improved with DVD subtitles. But it impressed me the whole way through. I loved loved loved it. 5/5. azza29
Jealous that Wreck-It Ralph and Skyfall are out or almost out already overseas. Aussies have to wait 3 more weeks for Skyfall and Wreck-It Ralph won't be out until Christmas! But it's sunny and warm outside today so I will get over it quickly. Saw both Argo and Frankenweenie on the weekend - two very different films but also two of my favourite films this year. I really hope Tim Burton gets the Best Animated Picture Oscar for Frankenweenie, it would be well deserved (and nothing else this year has come close to being Oscar-worthy). And Argo was a masterful piece of storytelling that kept me interested right until the end.

cfc
^Looking forward to The Hobbit, although I'm not sure it can hold up over three movies. I'm indifferent toward Skyfall, as I don't care for Daniel Craig as Bond.
jray21
I am also looking forward to The Hobbit. Lincoln looks good as well. Anyone see Cloud Atlas yet? Edited November 1, 2012 by jray21
alilstronger
Movies I am excited for in the next year. I LOVE remakes and can not wait for a few - I love when they try to update them for a new generation. What I am excited for is.... 1. Evil Dead (remake) 2. The Collection 3. Flight 4. Texas Chainsaw 3D (will only see in theaters if I can find it NOT in 3D - I do not like 3D movies UNLESS they are cartoon) 5. Hansel and Gretal: Witch Hunters 6. Oz the Great and Powerful 7. Carrie (remake) 8. The Host 9. Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part II 10. Tyler Perry's The Marriage Counselor 11. Tyler Perry's We the Peeples 12. The Little Mermaid in 3D 13. Paranormal Activity 5 (if it gets made of course)
redmenace8
I watched 50/50 last night for the first time and I think it is such a well done movie. Do I feel they could have dramatized it a little bit yes, but it was well done. I really liked 50/50 as well. I first watched it with a friend who had been preliminarily diagnosed with a brain tumor, (false as it turned out) and he was really moved by it. The movie had the right touch, maybe I would have liked a bit more emotional bits but it plays very well-not overwrought. I feel like watching it again now that someone in my family is dealing with the strong possibility of having to deal with something like the subject of the movie, can't say or write it out yet, just, still hoping. jray21
Saw Wreck it Ralph last night. Great movie. Lots of awesome retro gaming jokes, and a good story. 3D quality was really good and clear. I highly recommend it! There was even a food reference that Elissa would love!
619fan
I saw Skyfall yesterday. I didn't wanted to see it, but my friend wanted, so I joined him... I don't like Daniel Craig very much. My favourite James Bond is still Pierce Brosnan. The movie was good. I liked most the stunts and the things from the old James-Bond-movies like the car from the Goldfinger-movie or when James entered M's office in the end. He did it the same way as Roger Moore and Sean Connery did it about 50 years ago. Oh, is this a spoiler??? The best thing yesteday at the cinema was, that I saw the new trailer for Les Miserables. The James-Bond-movie was okay, but I will not become a fan of Daniel Craig...

Simipour'sTrainer
Saw Wreck it Ralph last night. Great movie. Lots of awesome retro gaming jokes, and a good story. 3D quality was really good and clear. I highly recommend it! There was even a food reference that Elissa would love! I second this! Just came out of the movie, I was blown away! It wasn't just because of the retro gaming jokes (though that certainly helped), but it had a great story, loveable characters (you really feel for Ralph), and without spoiling anything, the big reveal was actually pretty hard-hitting. One of the best movies I saw this year, I recommend it to the high heavens!
alilstronger
For anyone that likes emotional romantic comedies I recently watched Griffon and Phoenix and I think it was really well done. It stars Amanda Peet and Dermot Mulroney. I have never really liked Amanda Peet before but I will say I think she did a awesome job at this role. SuperShawn
Saw Wreck It Ralph last night. First off I haven't been to the movie theaters in a long time and the safety announcement before the movie starts took a second to click. The movie was entertaining and full of great video game references and jokes. Visually well done and a nice story line. If you want to see an entertaining uplifting film or are a fan of video games definitely go see it.
Double0Kevin
Saw Skyfall at the midnight IMAX showing here in San Francisco last night. The movie was amazing. It's the Bond film that Bond fans have wanted since Sean Connery had his peak with Goldfinger and Thunderball. Daniel Craig gave his best performance yet, the use of Judi Dench was great, and Javier Bardem... wow, what an amazing performance as a Bond villain. I'm always hesitant to say the newest film in a series is the best yet, but this one is WAY up there. I would say it trumps any non-Connery film and gives Goldfinger a run for it's money as the best (at least in my view). If you are Bond fan I doubt I need to even say it, but SEE THIS MOVIE. molemaster43
Saw Prometheus last night. Terrible. Absolutely terrible. This was nothing like I thought it was going to be, and that was a bad thing. The plot was very confusing at tons of points and it was unclear as to what a lot of the things were during the movie. I just hate this movie. I may have left one hour into Snow White and the Huntsman, but that one hour was better than this whole movie.
Bolliger&Mabillard
Saw Flight on Thursday. Loved it. Not the most amazing performance from Denzel Washington, but damn it was the story amazing. Without giving any spoilers I'd have to say that I'd highly reccomend it, It starts off thrilling, the suspense never lets up, and the character development (If you're as into that kinda thing as I am) is amazing. Great movie from wire to wire.
rcdude
Saw Skyfall yesterday. It was great. While it may not be my favorite Bond film, I'd definitely place it in the top five and say it's the best of the three Craig films. The movie felt a lot more like the classic Bond films than Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace did, but it had a unique plot with a somewhat unexpected conclusion. If you're a Bond fan, see this, and even if you're not it's still a good action movie. B+

I just hate this movie. I may have left one hour into Snow White and the Huntsman, but that one hour was better than this whole movie. I watched Prometheus Friday night and didn't think it was that bad. Seemed kinda long and drawn out, but overall I didn't think it was a terrible movie by any means. Although I do think that the first Alien movie blew it away. I also thought that Snow White and the Huntsman was pretty good, even though I didn't think that I would care for it. Plan on going to see Skyfall this week...after reading the good review and seeing good reactions on here, this seems like one I would rather see in the theatre versus waiting for it to come out on Netflix. Flight looks very good too...
