swampfox
Alright, I did the TPR search and could find no subject on this, though there probably was one..... I'll risk it. What is your favorite rapids ride out of all the parks you've been to? I know some people like the best themed, some like the wettest, and some like the ones that leave them bone dry... My favorite would have to be Kings Dominion's when they actually have the last part of the ride working properly. My least favorite was Six Flags Great Adventure's. Loco
I LOVE rapid rides. Best one I've been on so far is Grizzly River Run. The one at SFDK looks good too, but I haven't been on it.
RCFreak
so far my favorites include, Grizzly River Run (DCA), Popye and Bluto's Bilge-Rat Barges (IOA), River Quest (Phantasialand), the rapids at Parque Warner madrid.
Top Thrill Dragster
Grizzly River Run (DCA) That last drop is worth getting drenched.
TheRapidsNerd
Can't stand any of 'em. Swampfox, you rock for starting this thread! For theming, pace, fun, and wetness, my all-time is Roman Rapids at BGE. Granted, it doesn't have a drop like the newer ones do, but it's still a great ride. It would be even better if BGE would turn up the other 3 water falls near the end. Only one of the 4 gets you if the spin is just right. Many moons ago, all four falls were powerful and part of riding was playing the "who gets hit by the most falls" game. My on-ride and off-ride from May 2007 are below (yes, ride op said it was ok to film). On-ride Off-ride
Purplepills
Well I haven't been on that many, but Grizzly at DCA was far better than any of the others, especially the drop at the end
piers
I'm with Hector on RiverQuest at Phantasia land. That ride was amazing with all its multi-levelness and huge drench factor. The rapids at Parque Warner Madrid looked amazing, although when Robb and I tried to drown everyone with cannons we discovered turning them all on turned down the pressure to a dribble and touched no-one! Rubbish.
Adrenaline_Rush
I am all for Popeye and Blutos Bilge Rat Barges here in IOA. Though I wish when you went up the lift hill it didnt lower you via lift hill also. Because that splash and rapids wouldve been insane after the drop if it was an actual drop. Oh well you still get SOAKED!!!
LcHg5265
Thunder River Rapids at Lake Compounce was on the Discovery Channel back in the day for "best water rides".
Moose
I have to agree with the one at Parque Warner Madrid. We spun so much it felt more like a teacup. Great great fun. Bluto's Bilgerat Barges is awesome as well. I am glad to hear the rest of Europe's water rides kick as much arse as those in Spain.
bblfgrd
I'm going have to go with Bluto's Bilgerat Barges also. For nostalgia's sake I'm going to throw in Grizzly River Rampage at Opryland...I used to love that ride as a kid.
PAShawn
I would have to say kali river rapids is the best I have been on its like your in another country.
coasterdude5
Thunder River at SFOG. I didn't really like Kali River Rapids... It was alright, though.
ahecht
I gotta agree, #1 is Grizzly River Run at DCA and #2 is Popeye at IOA. None of the others even come close.
socalMAN123
Grizzly River Run is amazing, IMO. However, Popeye and Bluto's Bilge Rat Barges is defenitly up there in the soak factor. But, the last drop on GRR makes the ride. ---Brent
KrakenKing
Mine would have to be Popeye and Bluto's... Also the one at Dorney Park... The ride was about 3 or 4min long... and the last 3/4th of it was all waterfalls. Yeah, no one got off with a dry spot. Sucked it was cold out though >. Axman
Popeye's Bilge Rat Barges! Totally fun an wet! Grizzly River Rampage was pretty good, but Rip Roaring Rapids at PGA always got me soaked!
Dailey Enterprizes
I've only ridden one rapids ride and that's the one at Kennywood. Raging Rapids is a pretty cool rapids ride that follows the contour of the cliff. The lift hill is unique because it goes under the lift hill of the Thunderbolt. CoasterFanatic
I really like Bluto at IOA, but the soaking you get can be a bit much. I also have a soft spot for Congo River at BGA. Apart from the fact that it was my first rapid ride, I also love the 12-man boats. For fun rapids rides that don't drown you, I am partial to the ones overseas (Alton, Thorpe, etc)
Groteslurf
River Quest because of the lay out. Popeye because of the wetness.
sio
I really love Mystery River at MPG. I just don't like the outdoor part.
Holtskee
I have to agree about Popeye's Bilge Rat Barges at IoA. It gets me soaked everytime. I love all the spinning. I recall that Grizzly River Rampage at Opryland was pretty good too. I've always thought Kali River Rapids at Animal Kingdom was too tame...it has the big drop but the rest of the ride is boring. bgwfreak
I know I'll sound like a fanboy, but I really like Rip Roarin Rapids at Carowinds. It has a nice long ride, longer than average rapids rides it seems. The only problem is Carowinds runs the 6 seat boats and the lines more super slow. 2nd would be Dollywood's. coasterfreak101
Popeye's Bilge Rat Barge, hands down. The one at Kings Dominion was a lot of fun...definately a soaker. Kali River Rapids was extremely dissapointing. Way to short, the only fun part was the drop, and not even that got me wet!
sfmmrules!
My first favorite is Popeye at IOA & my second favorite is the one at SFDK. I have been on Grizzly River Run at CA & I thought it wasn't very good. I didn't even get wet! I don't care for Grizzly River Run, but maybe it will be better when I go on it again.
