verticalzero
This news was posted in July on the Website, I know it is old news but not everyone may of heard about it. Does this affect the "Big Dipper" and "Tumble Bug".. The owners of the historic former Chippewa Lake Amusement Park are pleased to offer for sale approximately 95+ acres of land adjacent to Chippewa Lake, the largest natural inland lake in the state of Ohio. The land offered for sale will include lake rights and access currently enjoyed by the owners, including beach use, swimming, boating, docking rights, boat ramps and parking areas. The lake itself has recently been purchased by the Medina County Park District.. This property is a rare jewel for residential, resort, commercial and mixed-use redevelopment, providing opportunity that is simply unavailable elsewhere in Northern Ohio. Asking Price: $3,500,000 http://www.cbre.com/USA/US/OH/Cleveland/property/chippewalakepark.htm?pageid=
Reality15
I dare say this might be the end of the remaining rides on-site. The only hope would be someone interested in the park would buy it and fix it up, which is a slim chance at this point.
ginzo
From the pictures I've seen there's really not much left of the park or rides. This park closed down in the 1970s. Entropy has done a lot of work in the past 30+ years. Has anyone here actually visited the site?
raptorcrew2002
Honestly guys, the rides that where remaining and rotting where lost a long time ago. When I live in NE Ohio about 4 years ago I used to visit CLP and Idora frequently. I have not been back since the ball room burnt to the ground so I'm sure the grounds are much worse now. The wood coaster would never, ever be capable of running again. Only option would be a clone of the layout freshly built. Some sections of the wooden track had so much rot you could collapse the wood by stepping on it. The rest of the rides are as good as bulldozing practice. To add insight for anyone who had never visited those sites, the coasters at Idora “before demo” where in better shape then anything at CLP, by any means. This probably is a good thing. I am still surprised no one ever got seriously hurt, well that was reported from roaming around those grounds. One day I will have to dig through and find all my photos from these parks. FlyingScooter
http://www.forgottenoh.com/abandoned.html Here's another with pics. That acreage has been up for sale for months. on another site, in yahoo groups for Chippewa lake, we talked about this last spring. I would've thought it would've sold by now. Cheap price for that amount of land and water.
