laqueefa
^How can anyone ride that death machine more than once? I've rode twice in my life, and thats enough for me. I'm not into hurting my neck, head, and balls all at once..... unless someone buys me dinner first. then we'll talk.

Guest
I am very happy with Great Ameica and could visit it every day without getting bored. Oh wait.....i'm talking about the real Great America not the California minature Cedar Fair version
Sticky Nicky
How can anyone ride that death machine more than once? I rode it 4 or 5 times within a few hours. I found that if you stick your neck out in the 1st row, you don't get headbanging. You also get airtime if you do a little jump right before the track is level with the brake run. No...sticking my neck out didn't work. Well yea, the headbanging did stop but the fine print is that you get chest banging. The very front row is reridable though, yet the row behind it was quite brutal. Seriously though, I think we need a coaster with airtime as the only 2 rides that really provide air aren't coasters at all. (Drop Zone and Log flume, which by the way, I love the ending drops)

I always jump at that hill at the end. It just makes the ride much better. I've found with all of the B&M coasters that I've ridden (Vortex, RRv, Mantis, Iron Wolf) that the first row isn't that bumpy but rows 2 and 3 are quite bumpy, with the last few rows being smoothER. Loco
Yeah last time I went I rode the second row, and OUCH. The corkscrew seriously knocked me out, It was so painful.
coasterbilly
yeah I did the Vortex @ Carowinds in the back and it seemed to be a lot smoother too. Jumping into this topic too, this really is a park I (or the whole coaster world actually) haven't heard much and still don't hear a lot about because nothing has been done to it since Stealth was removed. CF needs to really bring TLC to some of the parks they have bought. The bigger Paramount parks are solid for now, but they need to do some work especially on this one I think because they need another signature steel coaster and a new respectable woodie in my opinion. Being in California isn't easy with all they have to offer and I feel like this park is at the bottom of the amusement park chain there
XII
I'd say that If they really wanted to improve Great America, they should put the original hell scenery back into Demon because right now, the theme is so $hitty that it's most painful ride in the park. (And the ride isn't rough at all.) Of course, that's never going to happen.
Angry_Gumball
Of course, that's never going to happen. Yea...probably because people today are too overly sensitive and would strongly take offense to it. I'm surprised that it's still called the Demon. Look at what was supposed to be Banshee...it became Mantis because some groups took offense.
Tmcdllr
The headbanging n Vortex would not be so bad if: 1.The restriant padding was not so hard. 2.The "seat" the part you adjust by sliding up and down has slop. If it did not have sideways movement, you would not get thrown into the restraints. Compare that to Riddler's Revenge's seats, they only move up and down and have absolutely no sideways slop to them at all. These trains are very similar so why then can't they just tighten up the seats? Even that by itself would be a big improvement.
sfmmrules!
I wish GA were SFGA instead. Maybe Cedar Fair will see GA's twin park & maybe hopefully someday bring GA back to like how it used to be or make it like SFGA or bring back all the great rides: Yankee Clipper, The Triple Wheel, The Edge, The Lobster, Greased Lightnin, Stealth. Or maybe Cedar Fair won't even care GA sucks & won't do anything about it but add rides GA doesn't need.
KGA29
Or maybe Cedar Fair won't even care GA sucks & won't do anything about it but add rides GA doesn't need. GA needs every ride that they get. However, here is the number of coasters each current CF park has received from the 02 season to 08: CP- Wicked Twister, TTD, Maverick CW- Tomb Raider: the Ride, IJ:ST, Behemoth KBF- Xcelerator, Silver Bullet, Sierra Sidewinder KD- Ricochet, IJ:SC, Dominator? Car- Rugrat's Runaway Reptar, Borg, Headspin? KI- IJ:ST, Firehawk WoF- Spinning Dragons, Patriot DP- Hydra, Voodoo VF- Steel Venom, Renegade That leaves MiA, GA, GG, and GL. GL closed and GG had a plan submitted for 2 coasters next year (though I don't know how realistic that is). MiA and GA have not had a coaster addition in 7 years (9 for MiA) while all other ones have had at least 2, however MiA is rumored to get Thunderhawk which would leave GA as the CF park with the longest coaster drought. Unless you want to count the "worlds first reality coaster" whatever that means.
Sunfire
^I agree with you. I'm so freaking mad that Great America has been neglected so much. Before the 2000's it used to be THE place to be. It was so awesome, and now it's becoming barren. Cedar Fair, PLEASE HELP US!
swampfox
Anyone else think that they may just gut the park like they did to Geauga Lake sometime in the future? I mean, it just has got me thinkin'. But of course, I think GA gets a lot of attendance though, so maybe not.
Angry_Gumball
GA used to get a load of attendance, which explains why I'm so late on getting my Top Gun/Vortex credits. The lines used to be long. Now, you can just walk on. Yes, walk on rides are fine by me but I'm sure it's not 'healthy' for the park especially on weekends. Even SFDK had atleast half-hour waits for Medusa on a Sunday as well as V2, Kong, and Boomerang. As of right now, Invertigo seems to have the longest line as well as Psycho Mouse and Survivor (Yea yea...it's not a coaster, but has the 3rd longest line in the park.) 1 thing I will praise Cedar Fair for is the inclusion of a haunt (simple, and free) but will have a full fledged haunt setup next year. They dubbed the "Carn-Evil" as a preview of what we'll see next year. Lastly, it would be cool if Cedar Fair pumped back in the "America" theme to truly make it Great America again. Looking at the Carousel last weekend and seeing the America pictures like Yankee Doodle and all of that stuff brought back memories of it's American theme. But again, Cedar Fair isn't all about theming, just amusement rides.
Loco
^ Im psyched about the new haunt coming next year. I just wish Cedar Fair knew how to do haunts like Six Flags, but whatever, atleast it's a huge improvement.
Axman
Things were looking up in 2001. Psycho Mouse had just opened, Stealth and Greased Lighting were still in place. Such a good year. The've been going down hill ever since, with the exception of the addition of the Flyers. I'm totally confident in CF, though.

Axman
Yeah, confident, I mean look at the work they did with GL ...jk... The closest CF to GA is Knott's. CF needs something to compete with SFDK.

Although 01 wasn't bad, considering it was their last Halloween event (until 09! yeah). In 02 they added a thrill ride and a very fun family ride and had all 10 coasters (which was very average for back then). The next year they lost a coaster and added 2 kiddy rides and a family flat and that was the beginning of the major downfall.
KGA29
1 thing I will praise Cedar Fair for is the inclusion of a haunt (simple, and free) but will have a full fledged haunt setup next year. They dubbed the "Carn-Evil" as a preview of what we'll see next year. I went to GA today and experienced Carn-evil. Great maze! And it was quite popular which is a good sign for the future of GA's Halloween events. I think it was the longest line of the day at around 30 minutes just after 3. Having not experienced anything like it, I thought it was very fun! I did jump 2 or 3 times. They were selling the 3D glasses for a buck, but I didn't buy them. My friend did and he said that the walls looked really cool. Other Halloween notes: -Lots of Halloween decorations. I liked the ones by Rip Roarin Rapids and Skeleton Beach at the entrance. -Flying Eagles has been transformed to Ghost Gliders and the tubs have ghost sticker decals now. The center of the ride is painted with a picture of a cemetery. The surrounding grass is full of cobwebs, vultures and coffins. -Large bubble foam thing in Kookaburra Cay looked very fun for the kiddies. Great day. Can't wait for a full fledged Haunt next year. darklingscribe
Anyone else think that they may just gut the park like they did to Geauga Lake sometime in the future? I doubt they would get much out of it. Grizzly isn't worth moving, Top Gun and (to a lesser degree) Vortex are terrain coasters. Demon Is so old that it would probably only be considered a new ride at MiA. Really the only coasters they have that could be moved easily are Invertigo, Psycho Mouse and the kiddie coasters. And While Great America has a good selection of flat rides none of them except survivor, the double decker carousel (and maybe the fliers) would bring anything really new to the other parks in the CF chain. Just my two cents. Correct me if you think I'm wrong.
