Saw Avenue Q in London for the 5th, and penultimate time yesterday. Bit sad that next time I see it'll be the closing night

Yay, I saw it for my... well, 3rd and last, I'm behind...

Well, I MAY go once more, I need to see what my money does. I really, really want to go again

I wish I'd pulled my finger out and got a ticket for the last night, but, I'd probably cry so it's probably a good thing I didn't

Yesterday was great, it was wonderful seeing Julie back again, and even though I last saw her (the only time I saw her) in 2007, it felt like she'd never left. I just love her portrayal, her singing (particularly the big belt in Fine, Fine Line), and that look she does, with Kate, during the fadeout after Mixtape *sigh*

I know what you mean, I too saw Julie back in 2007, but, she just felt so perfect back in the role. I LOVE her, I think she's absolutely perfect for the part and does it so well, and I agree, that look at the end of Mix Tape still cracked me up this last time. Her Fine, Fine Line is just amazing as well, that song always upsets me, but, she made me want to cry... She just seems to fit Kate so perfectly, and whoever the replacement was, I didn't like her as much.

Having said that, I LOVE Mark and Daniel (I'm a bit of a Daniel fanboy, primarily because I have a HUGE crush on him ), so to see her with those two, for me, felt like a 'perfect' cast. So, it was my favourite, hence me wanting to see it again and trying to work it in to my schedule xD I do love Student Tickets, so I may go some time towards the mid of March... I'm going to see Priscilla on the 10th, so maybe I'll go to the Q on the 9th and have a musical explosion, hehe.

trying to work it in to my schedule I like small boys in tights.

?

But yeah, Daniel's great, particularly as Rod (his Princeton accent does sometimes slip a bit). Mark, however, is a perfect puppeteer, I love him in it so much. Loved how Trekkie actually pointed at someone in front row and said 'You do!' when told that 'Normal people don't look at porn on the internet!'.

^Haha, I always forget TPR changes some stuff to 'I like small boys in tights"...

And I definitely agree, Daniel's Rod is a lot better than his Princeton. I mean, his Princeton is good, but, like you say, the accent can be a bit off. His Rod, on the other hand, is sublime and hilarious.

Plus, he's goooorrrggeeeouuuss

Decided to post this here as well as the Rant thread. Because.

Tony winner (for the revival of "Cabaret") Natasha Richardson just passed away from the skiing accident she had.

My thoughts and warm feelings go out to her family and close friends and everyone who knew and worked with her, especially in theatre.

So tragic. I'm really shocked and upset about this. I always enjoyed her as an actress, and will remember her terrific performances in Cabaret and A Streetcar Named Desire. I met her briefly after Cabaret once and she seemed like such a nice, genuine person. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.

I just saw pippin at (whats the name of the theater near Disney concert hall in LA) I saw it for a sign language project as part of the deaf west theater production. It was pretty good, and the host was awesome, but the play was a lot raunchier than anything I've ever seen live. It was funny, and the end was pretty funny.

The Producers - Its just amazing

Spamalot - Pretty hilarious, not as good as the Producers though

Avenue Q - Hilarious and a great take on real life. Interesting concept.

Phantom - Saw it in Vegas, so I know its not the whole show, but I dare you to find higher production quality anywhere else.

Le Miserables - Just an amazing story & music is great

Lion King - costumes. wow.

And maybe he might be reading this thread today (you never know, huh?), so....

Happy Birthday, Stephen Sondheim!

Best Wishes always, and thankyou for all the amazingly great musicals you have penned in the past decades.

I got to see three of them with their original NY casts: Pacific Overtures (1976), Sweeney Todd, The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (1979) and Into The Woods (1987).

Even though this is not musicals related, I thought this thread would be appropriate rather than creating a new thread.

I'm making my return to the stage after almost four years. I auditioned for, and was cast in, Bus Stop. If you're familiar with the show, I was cast as Elma. I am so freakin' excited! I have been dying to get back into theater. My husband is also in the show. It'll be staged the second weekend of May. I'll keep y'all updated. Just wanted to share my good news!

^ Congratulations!

Break many many legs!

And I would say that there are many, many great non-musicals written and staged around the world.

"Bus Stop" is definitely one of those American Classics.

Enjoy the ride, lol.

I was listening and wondering...

Does anybody else have a copy of the two-disc 5th Anniversary cd package of Broadway's Wicked? And what do you think of the second disc, included as a bonus to the original cast recording?

I have thoroughly enjoyed the second disc, with re-mixes of the Broadway songs and also using other great "Elphabas," who followed the wonderful Idina Menzel; and two tracks each, from the German and Japan productions of the musical.

Fascinating to listen to these versions, not knowing the language itself, but knowing what the lyrics are, in English. Fun, actually, lol!

Thought I would ask, since I do enjoy listening to the original show, from time to time.

Quite the package with nice new anniversary 'notes' from Stephen Schwartz.

Saw the London production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat last night - pity it's closing in a few weeks, it was a nice burst of energy.

On the other hand, seeing Mary Poppins on its last night in the UK (on tour) on Saturday!

Just found out. To be released June 2/09, Amazon.com -

Have heard and read great stuff about TSoMF (though sadly, an all-too- short run), and 'interesting' crtiques of WSS with the new latin (spanish?)here and there, in dialogue and song.

So - these two new releases and an already-released (gotta love Toxic!) one waiting for me after I return home from the TPR Scandi Tour....

(Edit to include my getting "Toxic", too. Mmmm.... toxic waste materialsss...)

WestSideStory2009.jpg.47b1dac0c33b6eee4f201c3b7a6c7717.jpg

With dialogue and lyrics latin-ized here and there, by Lin-Manuel Haranda of "In The Heights" Tony success.

Got (I thought) good reviews, but wha'happen? Closed in less than a week. )o: Good news, we still get the score. (o:

Mmmmm toxic sludge. One of the very few Off-Broadway cds I ever buy. This one's up there with "Bat Boy" and "Little Shop of Horrors" I've heard and read, lol.

Darnit, I wished I had seen the tour that had come through here a few months' back. Got great reviews and I do love the Broadway score.

Oh well, not going to pass up a few others, if and when they hit town, lol!

LOVE Spamalot. Definitely one of the funniest shows I've ever seen. And I even saw it Clay Aiken in it, who was surprisingly good!
