Canada's Wonderland Discussion Thread

p. 433: AlpenFury launched coaster announced for 2025!

Recommended Posts

The countdown works based off of the time set on your computer. When I set my computer clock ahead to tomorrow 7 am, the countdown is blank. You will not be able to see the announcement until 7 am (Eastern Time US & CAN), when they open the new page for the ride. They made that mistake with the Behemoth countdown and the layout was revealed when someone set their computer time ahead to the announcement date.

I'm still thinking a launch of some kind. That's just my hunch, it's not anything I've been told (well, other than the possibility that it won't be a very long ride). A lift hill and drop on a giga take up enormous amounts of track length, and even the "short" giga (305) is still 5,100 feet long, largely in part to the massive lift hill and drop. The number range I was told is nowhere even near 305's length. But I will say that what I was told wasn't as rock solid as the other stuff. So, once again, we'll see. But I don't expect a traditional lift.

I apologize in advance for not having the time to check the whole thread. About the name of the ride, I don't mean to be rude but.... has anybody tried going to http://leviathan.canadaswonderland.com/

It's a working website with an admin account login at the moment. I got the idea from http://behemoth.canadaswonderland.com/

Isn't that a pretty good sign of the name of the ride. If you try any other name before canadaswonderland.com you will not get a page to load.

Meh, this I don't like. I'm not a fan of the gimmicky type rides like that...I wish we'd just go back to the days of traditional coasters. Not saying gimmicky rides aren't fun, but it's just another sign that the best days of life are well behind me/us.

I like that it kind of shows like two tails running along side each other. I'm expecting at least some section of track to run through one of Dragon Fire's corkscrews. Interlocking corkscrews might be a little stretch.

I've often wondered why Leviathan has never been used as a coaster name before.

For the exact opposite reason CF changed the name of Banshee to Mantis. Religious leaders called on the name change.

Now here we are, and we have Leviathan, a monster mentioned in religious scripture. I like the name myself, but you know someone is going to whine about it!

And so it begins...

I don't personally care. I'm saying that on behalf of the park. With all the hype the park's put into this ride it'll be a heartbreaker to see the new coaster become a let down and not boost attendance.

It's also a huge risk for CW to become B&Ms guinea pig. What makes a giga a giga is usually it's intensity (am I wrong?). B&M hasn't been known for it's intensity, so B&M will have to step up it's game to compete with Intamin.

^Pretty much any new major coaster is going to boost attendance. The GP will see adds or hear about it from a friend and flock, it's what they're good at. We as enthusiasts are going to flock because we believe it's going to be a B&M first. It's going to increase attendance for sure.
