Canada's Wonderland Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

Hey Canada's Wonderland fam and anyone else. Were a newish channel that just moved from drone footage to vlogging and I'm looking for feedback (constructive) on how to improve our vlogs and make them more fun and professional. Remember this was our first attempt haha

Based on no other experience aside from watching occasional youtube videos, here's my advice:

*Keep the video right around 5 minutes so people don't get bored.

*Fix the shaky camera.

*You're trying to class up a hobby that's not classy, lol. Get a polo with your logo embroidered on it. It won't be as informal as a cheesy T-Shirt, but you won't be better dressed than the park managers, either.

*Focus on small pieces of the park at a time so you don't run out of content.

The attempt to stray away from nerdy over excited V-Logs was a warm welcome for me.

Also you need to constantly be aware of audio. In a coupl3 of the videos there are people not facing the camera for a couple seconds which causes us jot 5o hear what is being said. If you want to move around while talking, try adding a mic piece for necessary audio levels.

Yeah the buttoned blazer is a no go for me. It's way too distracting but I could be wrong since Toronto is a uniquely fashioned city. Half of the time spent there we played the game "hot garbage or ...hot?" because we couldn't figure out if people were rocking a six figure outfit or thrift store mashup.

I laughed entirely too hard at this.

Dude kinda has a Patrick Bateman vibe though.

"And here is this lovely backstage area... where I'm going to cut you into little pieces!"

Thanks so much! This is great constructive feedback. Will 100% fix those problems

Yeah, were going to purchase a mic and receiver for future interviews. I noticed what you said as well.

Oh, I'd LOVE for Wonderland to put in a coaster like that one on the right. Huge thrills in such a tight space!

The blue Schwarzkopf on the left is what you want.

^Jetline is one of those iconic Schwarzkopf's (aren't most), Maurer did some modifications to it's first drop back in '97.

The Gerstlauer bobsled coasters(Vilda-Musen in this case) are fantastic as well. They're thrilling for the whole family, and can be perfectly themed.

^Grona Lumd is my most wanted park!!! Back to Canada’s Wonderland... is the name Ziz still mentionable for the new coaster? Personally I think it’s a great name and fits in awesomely!

I have something to say to you all. I have been holding this in, but I feel now is the time to let it out. Please let me know if you agree with me. Here comes my thought . . . when we are riding Vortex next year, and we are going around the part of the track that circles around the new coaster, how many of you agree with me when I say this . . .I don't think that we will be able to see the drop while circling the new coaster. The angle our necks would have to be at makes it impossible, in my opinion. Please take a couple of minutes to think about this and try to visualize riding Vortex and trying to angle up your neck and head to look straight up. I just don't think it will be possible to see it at all. Please let me know your thoughts.

Changing plans and going to Wonderland tomorrow instead of Cedar Point, anything noteworthy to mention from today? Damage from the storm last night causing any issues today? How is staffing/food lines?

Looking forward to an hour of early entry on Leviathan!

I don't know why, but I love storms, and footage of them. That's quite the interesting visit. Glad the damage was minimal and no one was hurt, but it's dramatic nonetheless.

Jealous of the ride on Leviathan in the fog.

Went to the park today and had a great time. Every coaster (including WMGuardian; though our guns didn't work and the ride is really run down already) was a walk-on for us, many even for the front row. Got on everything we wanted, and grabbed a burger with my meal plan from the place near the rapids ride (best theme park burger I've ever had!), did everything we wanted in 3 hours and went back to Buffalo.

No complaints other than it was tough to get a fountain drink with my pass, and the one place I waited at, the syrup was gone on the coke and everything else was flat. Skyhawk was closed today as well. Operations were great throughout the park!

Glad we ended up going to CW over Cedar Point, which I heard was a crapshoot today as well.

Glad you had fun at the park!

The burger place near the rapids is Muskoka Craft Burger and Beer. I tried it on Friday, and I was really impressed too. The pickle spear and half a sausage are a nice touch, not to mention the chips. I think it's my new go to place for food in the park.

Mini trip report.

I visited wonderland today for the first time this year. Behemoth ERT day, with few people in the park meant it was a walk on and i got a few rides in various seats. I like the 4th train second row as you get a nice floater air over all of the hills. I also like the back, getting pulled over the peaks and around the turnaround. It was running great, and i had some nice rides.

Sledge Hammer was being worked on with workers on scissor lifts and ladders working on the motors that turn the carriages on each arm. I can’t remember now if they were originally hydraulic motors but they were installing/ working on electric motors.

There was lots of work being done on the new coaster, with some storm drains and footers recently worked on. Looks like the workers got sunday off. Splash works opens end of may, and i don’t see a path to get there yet.

The tunnel goes through the middle of vortex’s lower helix and comes out between skyhawk and windseeker on the shore by the lake. Judging by the width i think it is safe to say it is not meant for 12 abreast trains. it looks to be 10 or 12 feet wide. Need to check with dippin dots guy for more clues…

Vortex got repainted trains with new interiors and faux finish paint on outside. Not sure if anything else is changed.

The lumberjack ride is to the left of shivering timbers. It was operating but not drawing much of a crowd. They seem to be creating a ‘Hoserville’ themed area, and have added the canoe ride to the north at the entrance to the kiddie area and Whitewater canyon. It is basically the dumbo type ride where you push a button to make it go up. ⅔ of the riders did not seem to understand the button part, but at least got to ride a canoe in circles.

We rode both minebuster and wildebeast and they both seemed better than i remember. The rebuilt final helix on minebuster makes it possible to ride now.

Having been to Dollywood, kings island and kentucky kingdom the weekend before, where they were stacking them like only six flags can, i was impressed with coaster operations. Even though the park was not busy with next to no lines, the crews got the trains out quickly. Hats off to the efficient, friendly ride ops.

The park is clean and well kept. Visiting other parks reminds me how lucky we are to have Wonderland close by. We left at 11:30 as it was getting busier in time to be home for lunch. i prefer these mini trips where we leave when it gets busier knowing we will be back in a few weeks.
