canadianparkfan
Nicman has 15 years, or possibly even 16 years by now, of experience in this world. He's wise to the ways of how people think and what parks need. Just ask him. Exactly!

thirstydeer
I gotta say, last week was the first time I ever went to the park on my own (my two friends ditched me at last moment) and I don't think I ever had a better time. I went on the Wednesday ( hottest day of the year) and didn't wait in any single line for more then a few minutes, including Behemoth. The line for Leviathan only took about 10 minutes or so. I got there for 10am and left at 2:30pm because I went on all the thrill rides I wanted to go on (except Sledgehammer because surprise surprise it was down for the day). Probably helped the water park was pretty full, but still.
Stealth1
I was at the park yesterday and it was really busy by mid afternoon. Sledgehammer was running off and on, just like every time I go. I had the oddest thing happen on Thunder Run. It was the first ride I went on when I got there as I was with my sister and her kids. The lights were left on inside the mountain, so you could the track and everything inside.
Mossed
Instead of doing a whole TR, I'm just going to mention a few highlights and lowlights highlights - The VR, Leviathan & Behemoth, Wonder Mountain, a lot of coaster whoring, pathetic Canadian dollar means more value, very cool flat ride collection. Lowlights - This park had some serious line jumping when I was there. At Wonder Mountain was the first case, where an employee kept letting people in and out of line. I've never seen so many people go through the queue with their bags, go put them down, and then be allowed right back where they were. Or run to the restroom and come back to their spot in line. Quite a contrast from Six Flags, where they give you a ticket with a number. The second case was on Leviathan. Leviathan, 1 kid turned into 12 kids about midway through the line, and they tried summoning even more friends. Two groups of people behind them, stopped them from allowing it to happen anymore. One guy in front of these kids tried to defend them. It escalated. Everyone was yelling. The kids all ended up getting kicked out of line just prior to the stairs, but not before letting their voices be heard. Yelling obscenities to everyone. -- Neither really bothered me. The Leviathan case was actually quite entertaining. Made the line go much faster than it otherwise would have. Still, kinda shocking. Security did a great job. Food services - So unbelievably awful. Over two full days in the park, we didn't have a meal go smoothly. Not once. Other people had similar incidents. Talked with an ACE member, and he said it's the worst he's ever seen it. WonderlandMan
I agree with the line jumping. CW is my local park so I'm there often, and so far every time I've been this season I've had to call out at least one jumper. Last time I got called a Narc by some dude in sunglasses after I told him to get out, I guess he just wanted to dig into me with those 90s insults
Johnlloyd
I go to the park every two weeks so, I do see line jumping from time to time. Whenever I do see someone line jumping, it is mostly kids who think they can get away with it. Usually, they do get away with it but I have seen some get caught doing it. Whenever that happens, a ride attendant typically escorts them out of the line. In rare extreme cases, security has been called to deal with the matter. I usually only see line jumping occur at certain rides and coasters such a Leviathan, Behemoth, Drop Tower, The Bat, and Thunder Run. Most of the other rides have relatively short lines so, line jumping tends not to be an issue. I wish that anyone who line jumps would realize that it only slows things down for everyone else. I know they wouldn't like it if someone else did it so, why should they do it? If you have to leave the line for any reason and you want to re-enter, you should just have to line up at the end of the queue line again and wait your turn because you forfeited your spot in line. Going to amusement parks would be so much better and more enjoyable if everyone just followed the rules that the park has created!
Voyager6442
I'm looking for someone to go with to the park over the next few weeks... any idea on how I can connect with likeminded individuals? I want to get some good use out of my season's pass (with parking included). I was wondering whether you got any helpful responses to your post. I am always solo when I go to parks and would like to have some like-minded company. Thanks. Voyager6442
thirstydeer
I spoke with one individual from this thread about going but our schedules haven't been very compatible. I'm sure we'll go but a lot of my August is tied up with work and family plans. I also went by myself a few weeks ago (for the first time) and I didn't realize I'd actually enjoy going solo - would still be nice to go with someone else. Interested? SbSteveZ
Hello, Gang! I'm planning a trip out to Canada's Wonderland on Saturday, August 20th and I'm looking for advice on what to ride when, and if fast lane plus is worth it or not. I'm a Buffalo local, so I'm used to Darien Lake's 15-30 minute max lines with one train on every Coaster, or CP, where you can expect to be waiting a LOT if you don't hit rides in the right order. Any tips and tricks would be greatly appreciated! (Also, this is the first time anyone in my family has been out to CW since 2000. Pretty neat!) PATTYCAKES
Steve, we'll probably pass each other at the border. If you are coming for only one day, and you want to go on most of the rides, then for sure, you'll need a fast lane plus pass. Otherwise, you'll have to be at the front gate at 9am and get on the big coasters first to beat most of the GP. xx
Married a Canadian
SteveZ Fast lane plus for sure at the weekend....just gives you a bit more flexibility. A couple of rides don't have this feature...so they will be the ones that you want to do early..most obvious being Wonder Mountain's Guardian. If you check back a couple of pages...there are afew good "schedules" to try at the park and which rides to hit in which order. If you are driving up from Buffalo on the 20th....give yourself PLENTY of time as the QEW/401 is pretty terrible. Arriving for park opening might take an earlyish start if traffic is bad! Have a great time...the weather has been pretty amazing up here this summer, hope it continues for your visit.
thirstydeer
You'll want to hit the rides with low ride capacities first, which most happen to be rides not covered by the fast lane: The Bat, Wonder Mountain Guardian, Thunder Run, The Fly, and Dragon Fire (all which also are in the same area of the park). Personally I don't think it's much of an issue if Behemoth and Leviathan have long queues because they progress rather quickly, thanks to their high capacity rates. Getting a fast lane would be great but a fast lane plus isn't necessary, but then again it's only $10 more than the fast lane or so and it'll save you maybe 30-45 minutes of waiting time in the day. buck funny
Hey does anybody know what is going on with the Enterprise/ Orbiter? I was there briefly sunday morning and they had a bunch of maintenance guys there lifting the boom up and down without rotating the wheel (which was kinda cool to watch). The hydraulics were making some miserable groaning sounds too. I don't know if it was for service or training, or was there some kind of problem? The last couple of times i have ridden it this year the boom did not go up to vertical and it was making funny noises and smelling of hydraulic fluid. I hope they completely overhaul it over the off season. It looks like it is getting tired out. This is not surprising since it is almost 40 years old and in service every day all summer. CF have been going to Europe to find vintage rides like this to restore for their parks, and here they have one of the last remaining Huss giant enterprises. Take good care of it guys! When I had last visited the park on July 20th, Orbiter was operating. I had ridden it that day and it had gone vertical like it normally does. It also wasn't making any funny noises. But, I have noticed that in previous visits and years that the hotter weather does make Orbiter and most rides groan more than in cooler weather. I hope it gets fully repaired as it is 35 years old this year and is the last Huss Giant Enterprise operating in North America.
williamj2543
So this thread has been pretty empty with respect to next year. Do you guys think we are getting that green wing coaster track from the B&M plant? Or are we going to have an empty plot of land another year... TheJewelOfJool
There would've been teasing and land clearing a while ago if it was a coaster. I'm pretty sure it's a water park expansion or another small addition.

Which is fine because it is still a great park. I just hope its not 10 years before the next good coaster.
