beatle11
^^Yup...confirmed. Layout looks alot like a B&M hyper, but just taller.
A.J.
Looks like Intimidator (232) and Behemoth had a kid and it grew up into a tall, skinny person. I don't like it. Looks like there will be only two good hills for airtime.
hyyyper
What a strange ride. Can't wait to hear the motivation from the park for making such an odd move.
B&MIntaminGCI
Welp, I'm not as impressed as I thought I would be. I was expecting a Millennium Force and I305 offspring made by B&M.

carolinacaniac
I don't recall either Behemoth or Intimidator having many low to the ground curves like this one. I kind of like the way it isn't strait as an arrow, although this would have been a much better addition to a park like Michigan's Adventure, Knott's or Great America where they don't have a true hyper already, even if it would not have been the exact same layout for the last two because of space constraints. A.J.
AND...wait for it...it's partially a parking lot coaster! What is nice, though, is that Leviathan and Behemoth are on opposite sides of the park.

carolinacaniac
Maybe it will keep most of the speed throughout since there is no midcourse brake? Kind of like Goliath. This will be a GP crowd pleaser I am sure.
ernierocker
Canada's Wonderland announces Leviathan!! www.leviathan.canadaswonderland.com/ Lift height: 306' 80 degree angle descent 92 MPH 3 minutes, 28 seconds Track Length: 5,486' Three 32-passenger trains Eight cars, with four seats per car, per train Fiberglass and steel coaches with lapbar restraints Canada's Wonderland Unleashes Leviathan in 2012 VAUGHAN, ON, Aug. 18, 2011 VAUGHAN, ON, Aug. 18, 2011 /CNW/ - In 2012, Canada's Wonderland will unveil one of the biggest and tallest roller coasters in the world: Leviathan. When the Park opens in May 2012, Leviathan will dominate the Park's landscape, taking riders to breathtaking heights and speeds never experienced before at Wonderland. The excitement begins on Leviathan's first lift hill as riders climb to a record breaking height of 306 feet (93.3M) followed by an exhilarating 80 degree drop. Reaching a top speed of 148 kilometers per hour, riders will experience extreme coaster thrills on 5,486 feet (1,672M) of track that includes a series of giant camelback hills reaching heights up to 180 feet (54.9M), and an astonishing overbanked hammerhead turn at 115 degrees that will cross above the Park's front gate at 147 feet (44.8M) high. "Leviathan will be our 16th coaster and now positions Canada's Wonderland as one of the top three coaster destinations in the world." said Raffi Kaprelyan, Vice President and General Manager, Canada's Wonderland. "We will go higher, longer, and faster than ever before when we launch Leviathan in 2012. With the addition of this new coaster and our diverse collection of rides, shows and attractions, we continue to show why Canada's Wonderland is the destination of choice for those seeking world class thrills and family entertainment". Leviathan is designed and manufactured by Bolliger & Mabillard, of Monthey, Switzerland. The highly recognized industry leader in roller coaster development also constructed Behemoth, which premiered at Canada's Wonderland in May 2008. Construction is well underway at the park, with a completion date of May 2012. Guests who would like to experience Leviathan before the Park opens next year can visit http://www.leviathan.canadaswonderland.com to view ride renderings, specifications, construction updates, and experience a virtual ride simulation. Canada's Wonderland is owned and operated by Cedar Fair Entertainment Company, a publicly traded partnership that is listed for trading on The New York Stock Exchange under the symbol "FUN." In addition to Canada's Wonderland, Cedar Fair owns and operates ten other amusement parks, six water parks, one indoor water park resort and five hotels. Cedar Fair also operates the Gilroy Gardens Family Theme Park in Gilroy, Calif. under a management contract. Skycoastin Steve
I'm excited to try out B&M's first take on the giga concept, but it's definitely an odd layout. And it cracks me up that CF still didn't go over 310.

mightypotato
Huh. It really is Behemoth 2.0. While this is going to be cool and nice to have in the park, I really don't see the point.
PCW_Nut
I will agree that this is an odd choice and is similar to Behemoth however, I'd rather have two B&M's in our park that are similar rather then no B&M's.
sfnesros
In 2012, Canada’s Wonderland will unveil one of the biggest and tallest roller coasters in the world: So I take it they never heard about King Da Ka being built or steel dragon 2000? Or am I just reading that wrong?

osm
The layout looks great, I'd say this is completely different from Behemoth. The high-speed curves look vaguely like I305. Like Intamin's gigas, it looks like speed is emphasized, with a decent amount of airtime, and a lot of lateral forces. Honestly, the only thing I'm disappointed about is the cop-out on the record (tallest and fastest in Canada). This looks amazing, and I can't wait to get back to Canada.
