WillMontu
Cedar Point, home of 17 coasters, 41 drinking fountains, 67 drink machines, 68 rides, and 2000 trash cans. I have reorganized these photos for better organization, though they are not necessarily in chronological order. As with my SFGAm segment, I have broken this up into several segments To be continued A rather common sight that day Some of the smaller rides were actually running, but I was not willing to kidnap someone to get this credit Some of the park is actually decently landscaped Being Cedar Fair, it takes a while for the park to get the rides open after rain Some people, Dan included, went for shelter People continued to wait In weather speak, this is called an SLC. In other words, Scary Looking Cloud Robb told us that Cedar Point has its own weather system It backed up for miles But there was still a line to wait in Maverick had started testing with live riders And they're off... Everyone is lining up for the Running of the Bulls People have started to queue up Outside the hotel is one of the gates to the park The hotel has two choices of views. You can get the coaster side (like at Big Blue at Blackpool Pleasure Beach), or the beach side, complete with trash cans The hotel even has a TGI Fridays, and the bar was a common shelter from the rain Supposedly haunted too While it wasn't the nicest hotel of the trip, it has the most history, and the location can't be beat A while after checking into our rooms, they had the power going again, and all the rides were lit up This meant that we couldn't unload the buses and ended up walking through an old, dark, creepy, hotel. So, what kind of vacancy are we filling? As it turned out, there was no power Upon arrival, something seemed to be going on
FLIPDUDE
Yay! CP!!! And way to capture "The line" cloud. Though you really made it seem like the power outage was this insignificant thing that lasted a couple minutes. We had to wait on the bus for an hour at approx. 1AM before having to enter the haunted hotel and get settled in our rooms which had no air conditoning, so we had to wander the dark creepy halls with flashlights for an hour, exploring every nook and cranny of the hotel untill we finally discovered that one side of the hotel does have power and we all gathered there for like an hour, being our usual TPR selves, to the tenth power because it was so early in the morning, and THEN the power finally went back on, by which time it was already like 2:30AM. WillMontu
CP Continued. I didn't have many pictures of the power outage. When I got off the bus, I went up to our room and tried to take a nap. I didn't fall asleep until after the power turned back on (it takes me a long time to fall asleep if I'm not very tired) To be continued What is it with Schwarzkopf rides and sudden stops? The cars are a little cramped. Casey told me that he didn't even try for the credit Wildcat is an old Schwarzkopf coaster What was with these necklaces over by Mantis's station? It also had the most inversions, until Chang and later Riddler broke the records When it was first built, Mantis was the tallest and fastest standup coaster. While in line, Dragster had started back up It's an old school B&M stand-up, first built in 1996 We next headed over to Mantis We enjoyed MilF The ride doesn't have much airtime, but it's big, fast, and smooth. But MilF was what we were waiting for Mantis was cycling empty trains We sheltered for maybe an hour before the rides started running again Of course, we were sheltering by a set of lockers by Millennium Force. It was made even less pleasant by this guy's cigarette smoke. Use the designated smoking area. Please. Unfortunately it started to rain again Cedar Point does have some history that hasn't been paved over At first glance this may look like Dollywood. It's not. Looks like a coathanger transition here Time for another Arrow credit Vertical loop goodness On the second day, the ride was running three trains, which is quite impressive for an otherwise short ride It is one of the older Arrow designs, though this one has a vertical loop too. To Jahan's delight, it was Corkscrew Some moments later, some of the rides started to open. What exactly are we promoting here? 20 more years and that beer could be real (or even less, considering the number of times Robb and Elissa go to countries where the drinking age is lower) I noticed this sign back after returning to the hotel to change into dry clothes. Why don't they like me?
FLIPDUDE
Awsome update! Oddly enough, though, I don't recall it raining twice that day. Just once for a really long time. Second time was just a slight dripping, and that was while Dragster was already operating.
coastercrazed49
Great update Will! Those pictures of Cedar Point where all the trees were soaking wet were pretty cool looking. Can't wait for the next update.

ElToroExtreme
Tomi I deff. Rained like 6 times that day! I was in line for Maverick the ENTIRE time!!! Cedar Point high five ::UFFF::
FLIPDUDE
Right, so Will says it rained twice, you say it rained 6 time,s and I only remmember it raining once. I was near dragster, you were near Mavercik and Will was at MF. Cedar point DOES have it's own weather system!
thecoasterkid
It rained on and off throughout the whole day...which I guess you could see as being like one big long rain. There were 2 main downpours that I can really remember though, and both of them were within 20 minutes of when I decided to try to do the rides. The first one in the morning, which eventually drove alot of us into the TGI Fridays, and then we tried to go back out after that because it looked to be clearing up, only to have it downpour all over again and drive us back to the hotel one more time. My small group was even about to catch a cab and head down to the Sandusky Mall for awhile to kill some of the rain time. Luckily it cleared up for good while we were waiting for our cab though...which I'm pretty sure never showed up anyways, because we waited a good 30-40 minutes for it. verticalzero
Blackpool claim their SLC is a world's 1st for the whole ride being built over water. They said it was an added 10 million pound attraction. Since they owned Pleasureland in Southport and already bought the SLC, only cost about 1-2 million to transfer the ride to BPB. A poor marketing advert and to name a coaster after a local adult "swingers" club makes it even more funny.
WillMontu
Continued. Mostly coaster porn in this update Next update: MORE Arrow rides! Did Tomi (FLIPDUDE) enjoy Magnum? The train looks a bit like a Wacky Worm from this angle This is the most painful part of the ride. It is an Arrow, after all Almost looks like a vertical loop The turnaround at the end has some heavy banking Unlike the other Arrow hypers, Magnum has six cars in each train. Anyone know why Desperado and Pepsi Max only run with five? How many times have we seen this shot on the Discovery Channel? It also passes through the "upcharge" section of the park, separate from the park itself Magnum runs through the waterpark. As far as I know, it hasn't chucked any wheels into it Signature shot! What's that I see through the trees? The queue moved reasonably quickly The queue for Magnum The ride has a lot of the 1980's era "7 segment display" font on the signing Take a few coathangers, add in some gravy buffets, and this is what you get Magnum XL 200 was the first "hypercoaster", and one of three built by Arrow The lap bars are more comfortable than the OTSRs on all rocket coasters built after It doesn't do very much, but it is a "short but sweet" ride It also held a few records before Ka came along, though Erik told me that he thought this ride was better It was the second of the Intamin Rocket Coasters Dragster is probably one of the more difficult credits to get, thanks to the Intamin Curse To top it off, Draggin' Iron is complimented with an Iron Dragon. Who would have thought of that Ryan got pounded in the back seat There is an urban legend out there that a train collided with a concrete support. This is false, especially considering that the supports are steel. And on the second day, they had three trains running relatively smoothly The ride-ops had earned some awards The ride vehicles look similar to conventional Arrow cars. Arrow once said that they decided to "take the Corkscrew chassis, flip it upside down and hang something under it" This ride has flame decals too, but the ride just drags along It does look somewhat pretty On the first day, they were only running one train Draggin' Iron is an Arrow suspended, an increasingly rare breed of coaster, after losing XLR8 and the conversion rides like Vampire to floorless trains. Another Arrow, another credit
FLIPDUDE
*Snicker* Oh my gosh that coaster is a freak. Riding it twice in a row just because there was an open seat was definately a mistake, and Homer has the onride photo to prove it. Just in case you can't tell from the pic, in the picture, that's me screaming in pain, mourning the losss of my knees.

WillMontu
^ He was referring to his haircut. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bowl_cut More Coaster Porn in this update Rides featured: Gemini - An Arrow racing coaster. Wood supports with steel tubular track. I rode both sides to get the full credit Mean Streak - A giant woodie. Trimmed to death. It doesn't do very much. I rode in the front seat, which was actually somewhat smooth. Maverick - The park's new ride for 2007. An Intamin looping coaster with several launched segments. Okay ride, but a bit hard on the neck due to the design of the restraints. Some people know to anticipate the transitions, but for my first ride I was in the last car and I was not able to see them. I only rode once for the credit, as the line was too long to try and ride again. Day 2 will be started in the next update A little out of order, but this was the queue for Maverick After riding, they had started to close down the rides and we headed back to the hotel Erik and Leanne on Maverick I understand that a lot of people liked this ride, though I found the restraints uncomfortable, especially on the neck There was a grouper on duty at the time to maximize the capacity of the ride. I skipped part of the line by going through the Single Rider row Some coaster porn shots The station is designed to that two three-car four-seat trains are loaded at one time We went back over to Maverick and they had just re-opened it after another closure. Ryan just got pounded by Mean Squeak I rode in the front seat. It wasn't very rough, but it didn't do very much. Too much braking It doesn't go that fast Time to take on Mean Squeak. At least it looks pretty Maverick still had a line and there were several trains stacked on the brake run The sun was starting to go down and we had more credits to knock out It's the back seat on an Arrow. What were you expecting, Erik? It was built around the same time as Colossus and was a record holder for a while, though unlike Colossus, it races on a regular basis Inside the station It looks like a woodie, but it's actually considered a steel coaster Gemini is the park's racing coaster
Guest
CP mustve been having a bad week. When I was there (like 2 days before you guys were ironically) Mav and MF were both not up on time for the morning hotel guest riding. On top of that when we actually made it in the queues MF, TTD, Wicked Twister, and Maverick (about 3 billion times) all broke down on us. That park has far too many Intamin POS's for their maintenence staff to handle. We did manage to get on all of them, but it the visit was much subpar to the previous year. The one train operation probably has something to do with the rain. I was at Valleyfair! sometime earlier in 07 and right when it started to drizzle very lightly immediatley all their coasters dropped to one train and they said because of Magnums incident all CF coasters were required to run 1 train in light rain. Also you guys went to SFGAm the day before read to succeed tickets expire, which is always the busiest weekend of the year other than FF. Looks like you guys combatted it with q bots and a pretty wicked ERT session though . Am I the only one geeky enough to notice the Schwarzkopf ad was placed right next to a Schwarzkopf ride (actually inbetween two Schwarzkopf rides as a Whizzer helix is on the other side of that midway)? RIP Psyclone
I had a dream last night that I was riding Gemini, probably because of this. I actually felt the drops, so thanks for that!
WillMontu
That Schwarzkopf shot was in fact intentional. Should I keep going or stop here? This appears to be the transfer track for Disaster Transport They cycle for the sky tower is fairly short, compared to one like SeaWorld (though theirs is an upcharge for regular guests) Hey Joey, they have an Intamin first gen. Kind of hard to come by these days OMG! Cement! Trash cans!..and a Maverick garden! I only got nine coasters in this shot There's a "boneyard" of sorts under Disaster Transport Very nice view of the parking lot You can get a nice view of some of the rides, such as Raptor It's a typical sky tower, though unlike the one at Geauga Lake, it was actually operating. "Welcome to the Space Spiral" Close up of ride workings Obligatory motion blur shot It's an Intamin Impulse, but unlike V2, this one has twists on both spikes Wicket Twister is in the same area and almost has its own themed section (see the two trash cans there?) It swings beyond 90 too It's a Huss Frisbee type ride that swings, and is more likely to induce nausea than any coaster MaxAir is one of the park's major flat rides, located near the front It's still enough to make some people sick. Yuck! It's a medium sized out and back woodie, and provides a better ride that it's big brother Although in the late 90's, the trains were butchered with ratcheting lap bars, seat dividers, and headrests Blue Streak is the park's oldest roller coaster, built in the 60's Don't these people know that Maverick is at the other end of the park? And they're off Uses for a Cedar Fair trash can #328 - Makeshift barrier After riding Raptor a few times in the front seat, we noticed that they were starting to let people enter the park "Raptor rules the sky". I first saw that slogan used in someone's signature on RRC Raptor is the park's old school B&M inverted, first opened in 1994 as the tallest and fastest inverted coaster There are at least 20 trash cans in this pictures. Can you find them all? After MilF, we headed towards the front of the park, as they had a few other rides open for hotel guests. The front of the park is the standard for Cedar Fair - Cement and trash cans Pure coaster porn! It doesn't look very tall from this angle Everyone has this shot Cedar Point has its own water tower. It isn't very spectacular, compared to Holiday World's two water towers and that one with the mouse ears While many people headed for Maverick, I went with Erik and Leanne over to MF for an early ride Day 2 started on a similar fashion to the first
