cfc
You're making me want to go to Indiana and Wisconsin, Erik. Damn you! Â I'm looking forward to seeing more of your Midwest adventures, and it was nice seeing you again at Kennywood.
mcjaco
Oh man, this TR is making me salivate for Avalanche and Mt. Olympus. Only four more days!!!
coastercrazed49
Great trip report. Mt. Olympus looks like a great park. To bad the weather hasn't been that great for this trip. On Cylcops do you have to be 18 to sit in the back seat or back car?
Erik Johnson
The 18 and above rule applies to the last row, though I did see a 9 or 10-year-old girl ride in the back row with her dad right after our last ride.
SharkTums
Yeah they don't seem to care about or enforce rules at Mt. Olympus!
snorkymn
^^^ Well, they did seem to enforce the no adults rule on he kiddie coaster there.. No kiddie credit for most of us. Â Let the peeps know about the "trick" at Holiday World to avoid the coaster lines.. go on the coasters after 1pm in order to do basically walk-ons for the 3 big coasters. Most people seem to line up for the coasters in the morning, then go to the waterpark all afternoon, leaving the coaster lines free. Â Nice pics Erik.. it's nice TR's like this that make it so I didn't have to take my own camera or PC on the trip!
Erik Johnson
Ok here are the Six Flags Great America pictures. Every coaster was open that day, anyone who missed out on credits did not try hard enough. Batman > Superman. This includes the comic book. I am glad that we did not have to wait 2 hours for Superman. Gold Qbots rock! Ryan and Carl loved Whizzer. We waited in line for some ride, I can't remember. No train slippage today. Well, almost everyone. Everyone got the Deja Vu credit. Our newest most favorite friend. The Gold-Qbot Flash Passes saved everyone today, since both parks hit capacity today. As well as Viper, Mmmmmmmmm....Viper. We were lucky to have an early morning ERT on Bull. Good morning Superman, Leanne will be happy to ride your ride later in the day. Erik Johnson
Ok, since I have never been to Cedar Point, I took a ton of photos on this trip. This will take me a little while to update this section. Especially the area that contains Maverick. CP actually has quite a few nice areas in the park. Probably the smoothest steel coaster I have ridden. Yes, I really liked MF. The trim was on pretty hard on the first drop. Mantis is a standup coaster I did not like very much. I love how close you can get to the trains. Wait, I know these people. Much better launch, restraints, and very little rattle. Top Thrill Dragster > Kingda Ka. Corkscrew was our first CP credit. Never trust a ride when its sponsor is a state lottery. I never fully understood this ride. In line for Disaster Transport. Cool, it looks like a Bobsled track. More CP from above. I got a few shots of the park from the skytower. The twisting in the back was fun. This was a pretty cool ride. I liked it better than V2. Darn, we forgot to ride the big wheel. These fountains used to be very popular in shopping malls in 1979. Weeeeeeeeeeee....... Raptor is one of the better inverts around. The front of the park does have a lot of concrete. Wildcat was Leanne's 200th credit. I'm in the camp who really likes this coaster. The park has it's own watertower. I thought it would be bigger. Everyone was waiting for early morning Hotel ERT. Where are we again?
Erik Johnson
CP Part 2. I just encounter around 5000 bugs. One of them was eaten. Pretty Maverick track. Each train has a name. They were running all 6 trains. You get to hear the Dallas theme as well as obscure Ennio Morricone music while waiting. Some random waterfall. Another Maverick building photo The ride does have a lot of theming. A full queue is about a 90 minute wait. The part took me off guard while riding at night in the back row. The lift hill is really fast. All about Maverick. Another Maverick sign. Maverick was very cool.
Cyber.Fiber
Wow, I am really wanting to go to all of these parks now! Great Photos!
yankees15
Great trip report, looks like you had a lot of fun! Are the bugs really that bad as everyone says at night at Cedar Point? Also, what rides are bad with the bugs, and what spots?
snorkymn
Yup, the bugs really were that bad.. I rode MF at night and came back with bugs stuck to my glasses after the ride. Â It's just any ride that goes fast that you have to worry about..
slither37
You do not want to ride in the front seat of TTD or Raptor early in the morning or late at night. Last time I did, my white shirt looked like a windshield. You must also remember to keep your mouth closed. Yuck.
yankees15
That sounds really gross but I know it will be worth it. How are backseat rides with bugs?
SharkTums
Yeah the bugs are bad, and this wasn't even real mufflehead season! Â I nearly ate one on Raptor and Wicked Twister sitting in the back! They are just EVERYWHERE.
yankees15
^That really sucks but bugs won't bother me too much. I can't wait to get out there next summer!
Rouse
^ I hit got hit in the face, by some beatle like bug. It was as big as a quarter and I was riding Millenium Force, I ended up getting orange stuff all over me. lol. Â Anyways. I'm really enjoying your updates. Airtime&Gravity
Good photos so far Erik, and I have to agree that CP has a bug problem. It could have been worse though, I think Michigan Adventure has a terrible bug problem. Â Looks like a lot of fun, and the parks don't seem that bad, then again you got a lot of rain on the trip, and it looks like you were still able to do a lot. Erik Johnson
That sounds really gross but I know it will be worth it. How are backseat rides with bugs? Â I did not notice any bugs while riding Maverick in the back seat at night. It might be because it was my very first ride on the coaster. The back seat at night is very insane, just make sure you hold on tight.
Erik Johnson
More CP! Well, back over to the hotel I guess. The trash cans are a lot nicer outside the park. Pretty geeky, I know. So that is what Magnum's lift looks like from the other side. We did not think Mean Streak was awful, it just did not do very much. Quit follwing me Magnum. Some random body of water. A picture of Magnum. One of many tunnels. The coaster was not too bad, you certainly got a lot of airtime in the front row of the last car. You really can get some good shots of Magnum over here. Since I earned all the credits, except Jr. Gemini, I spent some time on a scenic walk. Blue Red Both sides of Gemini were running with two trains. We earned our Woodstock credit. krazekiddd
Seriously, the bugs on this visit were just evil! Jenn and I were in pain on MF getting slapped in the face. I actually had to clean my glasses off at the end! Â The best thing was when Chris has me look at my restraints on Maverick in the front row. It was completely covered! Erik Johnson
Ok, onto Kennywood. Spot the coaster geek. Yes we got the credit. I know those people from somewhere. Jack Rabbit was good. Noah's Ark was really cool. You must visit this attraction. Kennywood history lesson. Kennywood really is in a awesome location. I see you Thunderbolt. Walking towards the station. This coaster really surprised me. I really liked it. Mmmmmmmm....Phantom. Weeee..... We all had to ride the Whip. Leanne had Exterminator hair. People seemed to enjoy it. Best spinning mouse coaster ever. I liked the coaster. Hey guys! The more traditional sign. Next was Thunderbolt ERT. Another train full of TPR. One train full of TPR. We had ERT on the Racer. One of many Kennywood's landmarks. "Let us in into Kennywood!" It was really early in the morning.
