Hey, quit going after coasterking for what he said. He never said he hates gays, just what some of them may do in public, just like he'd probably have a problem with straight couples doing the same thing in a public place, like I would.

I think what made people respond is his claim that homosexuals are sinners if they commit sexual acts, since they can't reproduce. I know for sure I found that rather provocative.

I'm not claiming it, thats what my church (Roman Catholic) has as their rule I was saying that in response to the other person talking about his church group. Ok so maybe I worded it wrong, I mean its not a sin to be gay so the Catholic and probably most other Christian or other churches welcome gays. They only view them as having commited a sin if they commit sexual acts without being married which they can't get married in the church or reproduce so it would be considered a sin if they went that far. Thats what I meant, its not my opinion that they are sinners.

OK so, IM a gay guy from Tennessee and i went to Disney world last year 2 times with someone else (also gay and my partner) and wasn't gay day. we had a blast and not once did we grope, or make out or get freaky on its a small world. but i agree straight, gay, BI, or if you like to hump trees, it shouldn't be done in public. period. holding hands is one thing but dry humping is a new ball game. and i say that for the kids as well as for other adults. if i wanted to see porn i would go the book store. as far as gay/stright/bi or other, holding hands and kissing is fine ( no deepthroating). children today need to learn that its OK to love who ever you want. there going to see it one way or another ( nickelodeon's , Degrassi) so it should be a positive way not negative either by seeing some one gay or other wise ,holding hands and kissing not by humping. as well as parents shouldn't say "being like them is wrong" they should say something positive. because how we raise and teach our children today will mold them into who they are as adults. and as a Human i would rather be treated with respect

And someone posted why do gay guys have to be girly well first off my partner is probably one of the butchest men I know (on most days) he fixes cars, and can mow the yard just like another guy or girl for that matter. And IM not one to work on cars but that don't mean IM girly IM just me and you take me for who I am, as I would you.

And in closing I feel that as a gay male in the US that I would more than happily get rid of gay days, pride fest's and every other gay activity that was a special day just for one thing. To be accepted, and to be treated as a human and not as some freak. I love, I bleed and feel like anyone else. And I just want to be respected like everyone else I couldn't care less about gay day as long as I was aloud the = rights (equal rights) that everyone else was.

OK i said my 2 cents

Well, I know this thread is pretty well played-out, but as one of this site's Official Old Homos...

I just got back from a ten-day trip which veered into the Bible Belt, and was constantly exposed to cheesy bumper-dingleberries celebrating a war founded upon Bearing False Witness and currently Murdering untold thousands of civilian. I was surrounded by supporters of a President who stands against just about the entire Sermon on the Mount, no matter how much he may smirk otherwise. At every park I visited, young straight girls had their pants hitched just millimeters north of Coochieville, and shirtless young hetboys had their undies showing. Young children were exposed to a vivid T-shirt illustration of a nail penetrating human flesh, and non-Christian children were reminded they were going to burn in Hell. And hey - boy/girl dry-humping? You betcha!

And now I get home to find 14- and 15-year-olds lecturing me on the fine points of theology and human sexuality. Seems to me, folks, that after the polar ice caps melt and DisneySeas is underwater, a little bit of boy/boy ass-grabbing will be the least of our problems.

You folks uncomfortable about gender variance might want to ask yourselves just what that is about. Oh, and to that young Catholic...you guys bow down before a lean, handsome, near-naked young man being gruesomely tortured to death in a redemptive act of human sacrifice...so do get a clue.

^ ^ I think that post could've been written a bit more sensitive, you just kind of attacked heterosexuals and Christians, while they were very civilized during this thread, only one or two comments maybe a bit out of line. There were only a couple of people who had "issues" with it, but I do agree that most people were way out of line with the "femmy" boy thing, I can bet none of those people have actually met and talked with one. I used to work with a boy that is the most flamboyant piece of work I have ever seen in my entire life, but he was an absolute sweetheart, and the funniest person I've ever met. And no, he wasnt' a slut, he lived an extraordinarily normal and healthy life, just like the "normal" gays.

But I think the main issue we had here with Gay Days is the "misreprentation" of gay people as a whole. Besides all the straight people reciting, "Well I don't have anything against gay people but I wouldnt' want to be there during it", our problem is that Gay Days is a very public, and very well-known display of homosexual debauchery, with a weeks of sex and drugs and dance music. It seems like all the "loud" gays in the world gather there, making for yet another fine display for the public eye to see just what all these "homosexuals" are about, while all us "quiet gays" quietly sit at home, pining for a time when it is not just one dimension of the gay community that is in the spotlight, when people will one day understand that gay people are just as diverse and dissenting to each other as straight people are.

And until that day comes, we pretty much are left with these pointless 6-page discussions that go nowhere!

After a post like that, you wonder why people don't like gays?

Yeah, actually...I wonder just what in my post you object to.

Is it my characterization of the WMD debacle as "bearing false witness?" My calling attention to the tastelessness of wearing gory "I'm saved and you're damned to Hell " T-shirts to theme parks? My saying that pro-military, pro-rich Bushies are opposed to the essence of Jesus' message? Are you telling me that young straight people don't go to parks half-clothed and make out? And surely I'm not the first - nor the hundred-thousandth - person, straight or gay, to commment on the thinly veiled eroticism of Catholic iconography. (See also: Bernini's "Ecstasy of Saint Teresa.")

OK, I give up...Iraqi children are NOT getting killed by the American invasion, there WERE piles of WMD found, there IS no global warming, any guy who doesn't butch it up like a NASCAR dad is wrong, George W. is a peaceloving man who believes that it's harder for a rich man to enter heaven than that camel-needle thing, and the crucifixion had nothing at all to do with a near-naked man being tortured and sacrificed for the ostensible common good. Oh, and it's inappropriate for children in queue lines to see two men kissing, but hunky-dory for them to see pictures of nails being driven through blood-gushing hands...

You like me now?

Perhaps my nerves were worked because at BGW, before the Irish step dancing show I was subjected to a support-our-troops video. (Quite comically disregarding the massive anti-American-war sentiment among the Brits, btw.) OK, I understand there's supposed to be a distinction between "Support Our Troops" and "Support Our War"...but we all know that is, in reality, bull. Yes, I support the rights of our (officially homophobic) military to live and be well...but I do not support what they're doing in Iraq, and I object to the president of Annheuser-Busch telling me we should all fall behind them in lockstep. When I'm crossing a bridge at BGW, I do not need to hear the Marines' marching song, nor to be told repeatedly throughout the park to drink Bud because it's the only Real American beer, making Miller somehow traitorous.

Oh, and Zoltan...please reread my post...I did not attack "Christians"...only the ones who insist on shoving their faith down my throat while I'm riding coasters...nor did I attack "heterosexuals"...just the ones supporting a misbegotten, illegal war that has resulted in the deaths of tens of thousands of civilians, while nattering on about the "culture of life."

OK?

Everyone pretty much sucks, and has some group that they tolerate less than another group...let's try to let this one go. Gay Day's happen all over the country year after year...as do Christian Music Day and Arab Days....Heck, we rented out part of Epcot for 'Wedding Days' I'm sure our group offended a lot more people than christians or gays!

Thats what he is talking about. How could you possibly put a gay-like spin on that. I don't preach my religion to others and honestly I'm not a saint, I was just saying what I mean not that I think gays are sinners. I personally don't.

Why does everyone feel the need to blame others for their problems? This is on both sides. Everyone just needs to calm down and live their lives and listen to Huey Lewis. That's the power of love.

Understood...sorry if I offended you. But I reiterate: it's a fairly banal observation that Roman Catholic iconography is chockful of what can easily be described as barely sublimated eroticism...straight, gay, whatever. I know you're only 14, and so all I'll say is...um...this sort of thing is what I'm talking about...

I think this thread is dangerously close to a thread posted previously that became deeply offensive after a while. When it comes to religious views, there's no option really but to agree to disagree.

In respect to gay days - I can subscribe to both sides of the story. On the one hand, I've never been myself, but if it is indeed true that PEOPLE (and I emphasise the word people) are dry-humping and making out in an unacceptable manner in Disney World then this of course I would not tolerate.

On the other hand, it is ironic that this event exists in the first place - simply because it is CONSTRUCTED and enforced by heterosexual people. If there was true equality in the world, and this minority of hateful heterosexuals (and I do want to make it clear i'm just referring to homophobes here) did not exist, then there would not be a need for a day like gaydays, or pride, where gay people are able to express themselves freely as human beings. These days are EXPLOSIONS of expression after a long time of suppression.

For example: imagine that you were put in a box and starved for 364 days of the year, because a large majority of people would not let you out from that box, for ridulous and unfounded reasons. Then, one day, you are let out of that box. What are you going to do?

Because the context in my example is 'starvation and confinement', it would be human instinct to engage in an all out food binge, in front of all to see, eating everything you can get your hands on, and celebrating your new found freedom. Just as we breath in, and out, suppression is naturally followed by expression.

If the context we are dealing with is sexual suppression - what is likely to be expressed at the moment of expression? Think about that one.

Gay is a sexuality, as is straight. There is absolutely nothing wrong with two men holding hands in a themepark. If this was the case all year round, then perhaps this one day of expression would be 'diluted' so to speak. I have had wonderfully romantic moments with my boyfriends all year round at all the Disney parks throughout the world. None of these involved making out in public or anything ridiculous like that. I have noticed many gay couples holding hands without anyone even batting an eyelid - and why should they? It can be quite difficult to overtly hold hands in Disney at times, but my boyfriend and I haven't been unable to do anything that any heterosexual couple couldn't do, so i'm not complaining! From holding hands at firework time, to sharing a nice romantic meal.

Disney is one of the most gay friendly corporations in the world - giving equal recognition and health insurance benefits to gay couples. With family working in the parks, I'm aware that there is a vibrant gay community that keeps Disney alive, and in fact it would be safe bet that, especially amongst the male employees, there is a homosexual majority. These cast members enjoy and participate in the gaydays parties.

If you took away gay people from Disney, then Disney would quite simply cease to exist.

This is NEVER going to change - and that is what makes Disney so dear to my heart
