What is your next park?

Recommended Posts

Five years ago I went to Kentucky Kingdom to personally welcome an amusement park that Six Flags closed and a brand new owner that reopened it. The park still had at least a quarter of itself closed to the public in hopes that new rides and improvements to existing attractions would be opened in the upcoming years. Despite the park being smaller, it still packed plenty of thrills. But when I came early in the season (first week of June) two things happened that made this trip less than perfect.

1- I was excited to be riding LIGHTNING RUN and even waited to ride in the front, but when the restraints went down I was told I couldn't fit into the restraints and I had to leave the ride. I had no problems riding THUNDER RUN nor ROLLER SKATER, but I was too big to ride LIGHTNING RUN.

2- I wanted to ride the new water park additions, but they didn't open up until three p.m. While I did ride DAREDEVIL DIVE I couldn't ride the other new additions because they were either closed due to staff shortages or I spend so much time waiting in line I couldn't get on any other water slide.

That was five years ago. . . this is NOW!!! I have lost enough weight so I could ride THE CLAW at HERSHEYPARK, so I figured if I could ride The Claw then I should be able to ride LIGHTNING RUN. As for the water park I'm just going to stay on the dry rides. Plus, they park added more rides that I haven't ridden yet.

So come the last week of July, I shall go to Kentucky Kingdom and get my revenge. I'm also going to Holiday World and I will kick if off my park tour with a visit to Camden Park.

Then I shall be . . .

I'm planning to make my first visit to Stricker's Grove next month on their Family Day, and taking my kids with me! I don't know what to expect from this small, family run park, so any commentary from those who've been is welcome! Also, if anybody else from TPR is going, let me know, and maybe we can meet up for a ride or two!

The day after that, I'm going to Kennywood, my first time in years, and my kids first time ever! So I'm super excited about that as well, since I love that park!

I had a change of plans, and in an effort to save some gas money, and also get my kids a better coaster (and presumably park) experience, I'm going to skip Family Day at Strickers this year, and instead go to Waldameer on the 11th! Kennywood is still on the docket for the next day, but I'm excited to get to my first amusement park of the entire year, Waldameer!

Also, Waldameer to Kennywood is a much shorter drive than Stricker's Grove to Kennywood

Yes, that is for certain! I've actually changed my plans again, and now will be postponing Kennywood until my big coaster vacation with the kids I'm planning for next year, as it will fit in well there. Instead, I'm going to go either Labor Day weekend or later in September to Canada's Wonderland! So that will likely be my next park. Unless of course, I decide to make the run down to Strickers Grove in a week after all, just without any other parks. Not sure if I will though, so I'll just say CW is my next park for now!

Is this just the "plans fucking change" thread at this point? We originally planned to go back to Dorney & Wildwater two weekends ago, but it got postponed because of illness. Then we were going this weekend, but forecast called for rain, so we cancelled it on Thursday, and then the supposed rain never apparently materialized. *shrug* Whatever.

We're definitely heading down to Morey's Piers rain or shine this weekend for three nights in Wildwood, and if it rains, so be it. There's plenty more stuff to do out there that we aren't dependent upon rides operating or not. Monday on our way back, we might actually make our first stop at Great Adventure of the year. We'll see.

Not sure. Gonna hit Kennywood next Monday. I'm leaving Saturday morning and plan to hit a couple of parks before Monday. CP, KI, KD, SFA, Knoebels, Dorney, Hershey, Waldameer? Who knows? Might spin a wheel to decide.

Probably Rye Playland monday, since I'll be in the area and have the day off.

The weekend after, probably going to hit Funtown in Maine and either Canobie or Water Country.

Second weekend in September, Schlitterbahn New Braunfels and Six Flags Fiesta Texas.

Then King's Island on columbus day weekend for Halloween stuff!

It shall be California's Great America. 2 weeks from now.

Not super thrilled but Goldstriker and Railblazer!

This will start a FIVE park western adventure, the 4 big CA ones and Lagoon. So pretty stoked. Will also cap off my biggest coaster year yet, (after breaking my record the previous 2!)
