I'll probably be at the park tomorrow sometime. If anyone sees a guy wearing a WCB T-Shirt make sure to say hello. If I find any kind of construction work I'll snap some pics. The only real work going on recently has been the hauling away of the ginormously immense mountain of dirt that used to be behind Pirate Shores, although that's been happening since last summer. So far this year Lego Parks have announced: Star Wars Miniland Flying Ninjago Polar X-plorer And since Legoland has had the tendancy over the years to clone attractions over the years, I wonder if we'll be seeing a SkyFly possibly? Gertslauer sold 3 of them this year I believe? Could one eventually show up in CA? They certainly have the space for it, if they wanted to. Not quite sure what it would be themed to. I highly doubt a new coaster, at least for this year. It would make sense for a new coaster to open after the hotel opens to bring in more guests...possibly advertise them in a joint way? May want to take back a few of those chips. Went to the park today, and at the parking gate, they handed us the little guide/offer sheet. On the front it had a picture of Pirate Shores, with a caption that read: "New Attraction Opening In Pirate Shores, Check Website for the Details!" Could this be the new water attraction Screamscape mentioned? I think we'll have an answer VERY soon, since January seems to be the month Legoland CA announces things. Set to open March 29, the Star Wars Gallery will include 3-foot-tall Lego models of a dozen characters from the epic film saga, including Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, R2D2, Yoda and Darth Vader. At the same time, model builders will install new characters, weapons and spacecraft to existing Star Wars Miniland scenes rendered in 1:20 scale using Lego bricks. Among the new additions to the Lego-fied "Star Wars" scenes: Rebel soldiers trapped in a net set by Ewoks in Endor. A Starfighter hovering over a landing pad in Mustafar. Three AT-RT walkers on a reconnaissance mission on Kshyyyk. An Ion Cannon firing a particle beam on Hoth. A Sandcrawler trolling across the sands of Tatooine. Debuting on May 24, the Pirate Reef shoot-the-chutes water ride will take riders down a 25-foot drop that generates a tidal wave splash designed to soak bystanders watching from a pedestrian bridge. A pair of pirate ships flanking the flume ride will be armed with water cannons capable of soaking any riders that manage to escape the deluge. Legoland visitors will be able to access the new shoot-the-chutes ride from the Pirate Shores area of the theme park or from the nearby separate-admission water park. Pirate Reef will be built by Florida-based Hopkins Amusement Rides, which created a number of shoot-the-chutes rides for Six Flags parks as well as the Pittsburg Plunge at Kennywood. In addition, Legoland's separate-admission SeaLife Aquarium plans to open a new Claws exhibit this spring with Japanese spider crabs, coconut crabs, land crabs, lobsters and prawns. Even though, I wouldn't suspect Legoland to ever do this, but to have something like Escape from Pompeii (BGW) would be really spectacular. Its more so common in Europe I believe on some of the log flumes. In America most of the splash boats we have either have no theming, OR they have a cover over the turn around and thats in (I.E Cedar Point/Dorney Park. On May 24, LEGOLAND California is investing millions of dollars into Pirate Reef. The new attraction invites guests to battle each other on the high seas as they blast water cannons, try to avoid getting drenched on the main bridge and plunge 25-feet down a chute that splashes through the battle between Captain Red Brick and Captain Blue Brick. The splash bridge, water cannons and brick building play area are the three main interactive components of this new attraction which will be the first to be accessible not only through Pirate Shores within LEGOLAND California, but also via LEGOLAND Water Park, the worlds’ first LEGO–themed water park which opened in 2010. “The biggest thing they are going to be excited about is getting to stand on board a large life-size LEGO pirate ship and they’re going to get really wet,” exclaimed Project Designer Lindsay Burroughs when speaking about what guests can expect of Pirate Reef. “Each ship is about forty-feet long and more than twenty-feet high,” she continued. Burroughs also explained that LEGOLAND surveyed thousands of guests to find out what they’d like to see as the next attraction. “Through research, it was determined that with Pirate Shores, our current pirate-themed area, being so strongly liked and our new LEGOLAND Water Park being so popular, we wanted to do something more with Pirates and make it a big ride with a big splash!” This spring, crustaceans will scuttle to SEA LIFE Carlsbad Aquarium at the LEGOLAND California Resort with the opening of its newest interactive exhibit, “Claws”. The five new displays include Japanese spider crabs, which can grow to 13-feet across, and coconut crabs, named for their ability to crack open coconuts with the power of their claws. For the first time, SEA LIFE Carlsbad Aquarium allows guests to see the extraordinary weapons and defenses of these fascinating clawed creatures. Along with the gigantic Japanese spider crabs and coconut crabs, the exhibit features land crabs, lobsters and nephrops, commonly referred to as “prawns”. Claws also includes an interactive floor projection that reacts when kids move over it; a touch display allowing guests to feel the shell textures of different crabs; plus a new daily educational presentation and feed. Media and VIP guests attending the press conference walked by fences at the entrance of the Resort where the nation’s first LEGOLAND Hotel is currently under construction. Pirate Reef is an interesting attraction and will indeed be quite large. It connects the water park and the park and both water park and park guests will be able to ride it ala Pilgrim's Plunge at Holiday World. The ride is in a new area behind Pirate Shores and adjacent to the waterpark, and takes up a very decent sized plot of land. I wasn't able to go into the water park and get pics due to time constraints, but based on what I saw, this will be the largest new arttraction/area since either Land of Adventure or Pirate Shores. This attraction is long overdue, and I don't have to go all the way down to Sea World for a decent flume ride anymore. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Late last month Legoland held their annual Lego Star Wars weekend and celebrated the opening of the brand new and improved Lego Star Wars miniland! I have tons of video and footage: Here's a construction update from around the Resort: And here's a full walkthrough of the brand new Star Wars Miniland! I think we're in the right place! For Larry for the Pirate Reef Attraction. They had this huge sign set up to the right of the main plaza. It was hard to miss! And also for Larry, here's a picture of the Pirate Reef ride model that is currently sitting in the Master Builder's viewing room. these are not the additions you are looking for They had a few Star Wars figures on display... Here we are! This is the roof of the Master Builder Building and today it house some amazing models created out of Legos by Star Wars fans! Let's star out with this awesome retro looking lego mural! Glad I'm not down there in that huge crowd! This needs to be real. Mos Eisley represent! Gungan Ship I want this. And so does probably every other Disney nerd. Speeder Episode 1? gdoggy1678 Posted April 12, 2012 Share Posted April 12, 2012 The new ride is looking great so far and is larger then I originally anticipated. The peak of the lift is 30ft while the drop is 25ft. Boats are modled after the old school shoot the chute boats. Each boat will carry 20 people and the ride can run two boats at once. Some of the track for the drop is now in place.
