Angry_Gumball
Now, that I finally slaved my brother into getting me a park map when he hit up GA yesterday, and being done with finals as of today (yay!) I started my Great America recreation via RCT3. I only have a few screens for now as 1: it's hot here and I didn't get much done and 2: I didn't get much done. (Sounds good, eh?) Anyway, here's a few pics to look at for now. I can already tell that this is going to take a long while to do and luckily I have no summer classes. Lastly, some overviewage and progress I haven't gotten too much of yet. OK, I know it looks somewhat ugly, but this is probably the best I'm going to get with the Columbia. Anyone got a better version of this? Main gates (again) with most of Top Gun in background. Top gun's complete, upto the corkscrew..then it just plops into what will soon be water. The main gates. I like how the main street set came out for this. Edited March 20, 2013 by Angry_Gumball

chmilo24
Looks like your off to a good start, and what is the second coaster you built. It looks like Vortex.
Kingbooba
^It's Vortex, I can tell. Anyways, this is great! I can't wait to see the back with Grizzly and Drop Zone.
chmilo24
I don't think you should put in Grizzly, that will ride is like a huge pimple on the face of Great America. YUCK! can't even stand to think about it.
Goliath513
Looks good and very accurate so far. I haven't been there in 5 years, but yeah, I'm looking forward to seeing how this progresses
Loco
Looking pretty good, too bad its not RCT2, Im still trying to find a good recreation of GA for RCT2
Angry_Gumball
I used to have an excellent RCT2 rec that I downloaded from somewhere...and had one from RCT1. Sadly, I no longer have them as they're on another computer, stored in the attic (RCT1) and gone off to cyberspace when reformatting my hard drive (RCT2). I just got done with Top Gun, but that's probably it for tonight as it's too hot in my room (even with the window wide open) and no breeze is blowing through...it's just too hard to think/concentrate. So basically, 2 coasters are complete: Vortex and Top Gun. And yes, I have to put in Grizz in order for this to be a complete recreation. (I'll make my version run faster maybe..) thefitness
Looks good so far. Why not use water instead of a pool for the lake in the front?
phazan
^Beacuse the thing in the front of the park is actually a pool in real life. Â But it looks great, keep it up!! You may want to add some fountains in the pool if RCT has some good ones though...

Angry_Gumball
BUMP! Â Â Bringing this back into the light as the coaster season's over. I've started back on this a week ago so here's a few pix for you to take a look at. Progression will be a bit slow as I'm still have classes and stuff...I actually need to start filming for my video. Anyway, enjoy! Â
rolercstrluvr
And now the new name for the park, starting next season, will be Californias Great America. Next year they will be getting a Top Spin, and the year after that they will be getting a new woodie and getting rid of Grizzly to put it in. Angry_Gumball
EPIC bump: This is not the same exact project since that one is long gone now. However, 5 seasons of visiting CGA, I figured it is worth a shot of recreating this park once again, now that I know my local park a lot better. Since it's the same park I'm dealing with, there's no need to create a new thread. Â I actually started this a couple weeks ago but wanted to make sure things were going to land in the right place before really carrying on with this. I think I'm onto a good start now as I'm laying out some of the key attractions and working around them some to make sure things are going to fit properly. Once I'm satisfied with an area, I then go in and start adding the details. Some members (very few) on my Facebook have already seen some screenshots as I've got a dedicated album on there as well that I've been updating. Â Here's what I have going so far, relying off of memory, park map, and Google maps. I may start photographing some of the buildings before the end of the season so I can work on stuff during the offseason. Enjoy! Park entry plaza on a gloomy day, perhaps the kind of day some vision when it was announced Cedar Fair was selling CGA. Firefall Sky Tower My 'ghetto' carousel...may rework this later. An early look at Flight Deck before I continued working on things tonight Hometown Square (or now Celebration Plaza) The Great America Theater HT Square from another angle, Vortex in background Orlean's Place (or the Gauntlet, since I have CarnEvil music playing there ) Detail shot Demon and the surrounding area, looking pretty good so far. End it tonight with some overviewage, the most recent screenshot.
SoCalCoasters
That looks fantastic! I can't to see how it turns out! Â I'll you be custom supporting the coasters?
XYZ
Because CGA is my home park, I looked very closely at details and I thought that you did a good job so far. After you are done, it would be amazing too see what all the coasters planned on Whizzer's location would look like.
TXthrills2010
One of the supports on Demon's loop looks a little off. Everything else looks really good so far! I've never been to the park myself but I like how this park is turning out!
QueerRudie
On behalf of the Moderators of TPR's Game Exchange: THANK YOU FOR REVIVING A THREAD instead of starting a new one! I hope the re-creation turns out well- and you might (if you feel so inclined) consider looking at a few of the ideas that Shane has put recently into the "Shane's Amusement Attic" thread- as it would be interesting to see what could have been... Angry_Gumball
Alright, this project has been revitalized once again. Long story short: I had intentions on getting the previous project continuing this off season (which hasn't been much of an offseason for me) but had problems moving everything over to my new computer I bought a year ago. The computer I was running it on was getting a bit laggy. I instead decided to start the project over (again!) and hope that this one actually works out. With a new tool to help me through the project, I think I'll get pretty far and most importantly pretty accurate. Â Â It's been a major pain to switch in and out of the game to look at Google's street view so I can accurately make the buildings. Wii U/Nintendo recently released the street view app on their system so now I have a 2nd screen to look at simultaniously. What you see above is over in the Orleans Place just as you leave from Carousel Plaza. Without further ado, here's how the rest of it is going so far! After starting this last week and staring at this shot for the longest time I decided to get the ball rolling on this and continue. Overview, still lots to do! Another look at the Carousel Plaza. I'm heavily relying on CS to pull off some more realistic looking paths. More Carousel...don't laugh, it works! Overview of CGA's new hotness. Disclaimer: The RCT3 version will NOT feature a tunnel as it's impossible to make. The queue area, based on what I saw during the hardhat tour I got to take a couple weeks ago And I'll end it with an unfinished shot of one of the buildings over in the Orleans-themed area, just before the Bumper Cars. What you see in the very first shot with the Wii U tablet is a little more accurate as to how it looks now.
XYZ
Looks great! This version has much more detail than your last version.
Parallax
You can make a tunnel, but you just have to use a shallower drop. I think a shallow drop would look better anyway, the real one isn't that steep.
Angry_Gumball
Moving along (Slowly, due to paying more attention to detail and placement), here's a quick update for you all! Finally got Vortex's track laid out and placed in what seems the right spot (without being too close to buildings) A look down Orleans Place (or The Gauntlet for you Haunt fans) A brief look at Home Town Square (or Celebration Plaza) And the former Ice Cream Parlor and Gold Striker POV preview area And I'll end it with an overview of what I have laid out so far.
